  1. I like porcello in the "I think he can regain his 4.5 era" way, not his "I think he can regain his cy young year" way.
  2. eh, if he fails because he can't throw you get insurance on it. I don't think sox will ever be close enough to lux tax for it to be an issue. Worse to get a guy that pitches through everything and just sucks.
  3. no because I think most fans just want to get the good players this offseason and not just happy the sox have a healthy cash flow.
  4. I would feel this way if I was the rangers or twins fans, but as a sox fan - them executing the most obvious moves was way more comfortable for me than them being "creative". If they aren't being creative in turning budgetary allowances into real cash, they aren't good at it.
  5. nuh-uh man, no way phillies can afford more players (phillies sign castellanos from sox)
  6. If you are willing to spend 25 mill/yr on a 4 win pitcher...why not spend an additional 10 mil per year and get a 9 win one.
  7. Mena's are the types of write-ups you want from a 16 year old. I really dislike how the sox keep going for young power/unprojectable body types though. They seem to end up with a lot of 19 year old first baseman out of international.
  8. He pushed these back after an article on how there was too little info on players since they signed earlier and earlier and the teams typically hid them after verbal agreements. Highlights: Yolbert: Tatis: Bailey: Veras: There is more so this is being nice. Small write-up, several follow-ups to 2018-19 class.
  9. Is it going to prevent them from signing anyone? No. They aren't near the lux tax. They have plenty of money.
  10. Guys I'm starting to be concerned you actually think he is made out of glass.
  11. OTOH sox could use some good intensity in the club house, and I've never heard people didn't like bumgarner on their team.
  12. pitchers I like but are high variability (aside from ryu) Decent chance at 3rd starter production: Miley Decent chance at fourth starter production Porcello (move him back to primarily 2 seam/sinker) Jordan Lyles Pineda (gopher ball) Martin Perez (pair cutter with coop) So yeah, bumgarner starts to look better.
  13. Yeah, like if they had signed lance lynn last year instead of going after innings eater nova.
  14. talking about what the white sox should do >>>>> limiting ourselves to what the white sox will do (kevin gausman is available. only 28, could be interesting !!?!?!)
  15. (the white sox if they fail on wheeler should pivot to rendon)
  16. I mean, 5 years 110 with a sixth year team option for 20 million with a 10 million buyout.
  17. I don't think 200 innings is even needed anymore. It's nice when it happens. And, I mean, trade him then.
  18. Cool but you have him for 8 years. If you want to have perfect production for every year in a pitchers contract don't sign any free agents.
  19. I mean forbes valuations are trash but sox fans and illinois residents have subsidized reinsdorf's fortune over the years and the least he could do is throw some of it into the entertainment bucket for us proles instead of passing it down to his kids to mismanage the bulls.
  20. Yeah I'd much rather be 8 years on cole than 6 on wheeler. Honestly same with stras.
  21. yes because we have so little information about years 6-10. CBA, revenue, potential farm system, player performance, team holes, etc.
  22. This is where I refuse to align my expectations to just what sox have made themselves capable of to what they should be capable of. They absolutely have the room to go after mookie betts next year even if they signed Wheeler. They choose not to. But they choose not to, and then weirdly also choose not to play in international, and have not brought in nearly enough accountability into PD and scouting. So...yes I'm not going to just say, yay! Castellanos! Our decade is solved!
