The rest are 18 and 17. It’s always exciting when 18 and 17 year olds swing above their weight.
  2. They are related. The original signing created a relationship with the tatis family that Paddy was able to use to sign two additional prospects. Bloodlines are often a plus in projecting 16 year olds.
  3. I would have to imagine a trade is in the works. I would guess Phx or Memphis, and hopefully we don’t need to send out assets aside from Dunn.

Yeah, have to say so nice that Vaughn is giving us what we expect to start. But the very pro starts of Ramos, Diaz, Gladney, and Ramirez make this a group to dream on. It sure what we’ll even see out of Dalquist and Thompson this year.

Man @Rankin I don’t know if Sean is on here but it’s so awesome having a futuresox writer in AZL

Right, and he faded a bit at end of DSL season. It was hard to get any info on Sosa for a while but at least he had an initial Badler writeup.

He’s a total mystery man too. Anxious to hear how Sox or other evaluators think of JR
  8. Arci is back. Three years is annoying but I’m sure it won’t be hard to shed. Trade dunn.
  9. The shadow of michael jordan has hurt the front office and ownership more than any part of player legacy. The front office takeaway is that the 90s bulls were about defense and grindyness. And if you were a part of it you can tag along forever. Not that it was the most talented.
  10. I think Madrigal probably will have less than ideal power production even by standards for him until 25 or later.
  11. Just to put a bow on our discussion, the yankees signed 13 guys despite signing Dominguez for 5 million (nearly all of their pool). The quantity aspect of the sox just never seems in the top 15 of everyone else (who also seem to have top guys)
  12. do we really have to chase ron all over for this?
  13. So another reason for optimism on Madrigal offensively is Kevin Newman. He was a name mentioned in the Q to Pitt original deals. He had high contact rates but low power. His power really become an issue last year before turning around, and now is looking at a 3 WAR season despite being less of a defensive ace as Madrigal (though has SS adjustment). High contact rates I really think have the ability to increase power production through better selectivity. Newman also only has a 6.5% BB rate, which is in line with what he did in the minors. Madrigal recently has improved to nearly 8%. Newmans k rate was 7%, while Madrigals is 2%. So main point is you have some comparison points for a recent highly rated contact hitter. Though I'm sure that doesn't excite everyone too much.
  14. Did we all see Sanchez' writeup? https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-to-sign-fernando-tatis-jr-s-brother-elijah?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage
  15. Kawhi has rings with two different orgs. I think what is attracting him to LA lakers is he wouldn't have to be the guy. He clearly wanted to go play in LA regardless.
  16. I have said it before, but in latam scouting there are worse heuristics than just blood lines, and I don't know if it is saying this, but if this kid has 55 power already ? that is freakin cool.
  17. Same, I think if the sox get realistic with him he would pair well with an opener. He has trouble maintaining stuff and some poor control outings, but also some serious high swing and miss stuff when its on.
  18. Yes, this, and the (again, early and relative) success of Ramos, Diaz, Rodriguez and interesting start for Guzman, along with success of Robert and Tatis has given me a more positive view of Paddy's operations and giving more patience here. We are seeing success from guys not even mentioned on J2. We are seeing commitments from guys that haven't been seen in 2 years. I'm anxiously waiting for Badlers December writeup, because his 2018 year in review for the sox had way more prospects and was way more positive than I expected. I would have loved to blow this all on Jasson Dominguez, but the yanks are able to do that because of reputation. If we can get these guys paydays the next few years, I think we are really at the point that things are turning around. ^positve post of day. That, and Paddy has done a good job of recommending this top talent. So if he truly wanted to go after Sanchez, I'm willing to wait and see if there is more than meets the eye.
  19. I know when the sox won their first game 1-0, their last game 1-0, and their final world series game 1-0, I was thinking "God damn this is an offensive powerhouse, what do the stats say? That we only had one 'RBI'? Those stats are idiots!"
  20. I'm just stating that even the plan to draft a star sucks because by time they are truly a star they have left. And I don't think it's a chicago problem, it's a bulls management problem. We've talked a lot about the nets, but one of their big advantages over the lolknicks is they invested a crapton of money into sports science. Would you feel more comfortable extending your career there or with Dolan, who could not keep Porzingis healthy. Would you feel more comfortable there or with the bulls who...(I don't need to finish this sentence). What Toronto just did with Kawhi is a big feather in their cap. Stuff like that matters. The bulls are an incredibly valuable and wealthy nba organization with a small front office staff. Why are they not using their money they don't spend on tax and pushing the boundaries for whatever extra margin they can find? If they do the hard work the rest falls into place. But they did buy two monitors for their analytics guy.
  21. uh, hell yeah, I'm about this guy. Great find @TomPickle
  22. This was excellent! So nice to hear in person reports on Ramos, Beard, Gladney and Torres. There is another 17 year old straight from international - Harold Diaz, as well as Jose Rodriguez who was in DSL last year. How have they looked? Rodriguez power has been impressive so far, hilariously with 3 hrs and 2 triples but no doubles.
  23. Funny but of all the superstars in the league I can only think of Steph currently with their original team after the first extension, though there is a sliding scale and I guess Westbrook would be the borderline.
  24. ok so searched pipeline, fangraphs, and BA and got no info on any of the non-tatis / sanchez guys. Good luck futuresox writers!
