Water carrying from the white sox community
Just want to say that though I defended Chuck, mcguffey has become insufferable this offseason. I like the media stuff he produces, but his tweets and commentary has been bad. Really miss when it was mostly dan hayes and chuck.

My favorite draft would still be Abrams’ but starting to seem unlikely. Best case scenario is abrams goes to 1 and royals do think like “we have a lot of catching prospects” and adley goes to 3.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
Rosenthal tweets yesterday that la seems mostly in it because of giants headway even in a short term deal, and that Bryce is still looking for $300 mill. Heyman tweets today that actually everyone is in for long term deal and all over $300 mill and oh by the way philly your fans seem to want Harper most. Where could he get that info? Oh to be a fly on the wall.

The worst thing about Dunn is his d has also fallen off. Zack Lowe said bulls were heavily shopping Dunn and no teams were interested. I wouldn’t mind ball, bulls getting little from PG though Arc clearly performing better than Dunn. Zack has been doing an interesting job with ball in his hands. Shame WCJ isn’t there too. next offseason definitely need someone though.

Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
I’m going to have a kinder interpretation that means the same thing: they care about what the money represents. Harper has been one of the games biggest stars since he arrived as a 19 year old. He wants to be the money amount that represents that, that’s why tax rates etc I don’t see as a big play though they will work around it where possible. Manny wanted to be a 300 mill player. Harper wants the biggest contract. You hit there you’ll get him.

Somehow I followed all of that except the sunglasses.

I feel like Sullivan’s article has people brushing over all Sox beat writers. One, he isn’t really the Sox trib beat writer, he’ll do columns and profiles and fill in. Two, Sunday trib was very critical of Sox. I don’t feel like DVS I’m sun times has been carrying water either. And Fegans post machado article was great. I know chucks sunshine Schtick isn’t fun right now, but whatever, that’s not the show he has created. And I don’t think it needs to be.

Bulls should rest Porter until after the hawks home and home. Lose both and it’s assured they keep the 12.5% lottery

Haven’t seen any timeline, wasn’t listed as serious. That said, don’t be surprised if he’s out for way longer than he should.

He would have succeeded had we been able to develop him ourselves.

I’m not sure that people are prepared for how crazy the result could be. Seems like people still in their head are still assuming top position will mean top pick.

Honestly would be terrified for a Mizzou pick to screw things up more than excited he’s good. Though Mizzous track record for top picks is pretty good. Aaron crow was probably the worst but he still had an mlb career.

I’m super positive on him, just joking about it since he was only Missouri’s hitting coach for a month, likely doing limited work with the team.

Honestly Sullivan’s piece sucks because they have him doing the entire sports section every day so he tried to multitask a bunch of takes.

Is there anyone that compiles player stats for only weekend series?

Outfield Moves if No Harper
He can hit the absolute crap out of the ball and that's a good skill. If he can smooth his deficiencies to average then you have one elite skill carrying the player and that's good!

Outfield Moves if No Harper
They also had him DH because of nagging injuries. I really find scouts info on hitting projections and pitching projections seriously, I find body projections short of adding power, health and defense reports less seriously.

Let's talk about player development
This was one of the reasons I was so disappointed. If given the choice, and you say on one choice the sox would develop talent and scout as well as the indians or I could have manny, I'd choose the former. Manny just helped paper over some of the deficit to allow the hit rate on stars from our farm system to be lower, but now it has to be really high on starters and a few stars. Now, I'm open to the idea things are better than the results. Last year above all was brutal largely due to injuries. Hansen could not recover post injury mentally or whatever. Collins and Sheets were the downers, but then it was mostly the 4A guys in cordell and tilson that they got nothing from. Everyone else was decent but just got crushed by injuries. Dunning, robert, kopech, adolfo, burger (not decent, ended up nothing. Maybe with health this year they show they are at another level and...great. Hope so!

2/25 CWS vs. SFG
So this article says he worked back up to 94 mph at some point https://newsok.com/article/5603029/manny-banuelos-enjoying-a-resurgence-with-the-oklahoma-city-dodgers Basically, he had TJ in 2013, completely lost all of his velo and was at 85-86, in 2017 he made his way to the dodgers and found his strength again and was back up to 94 where he was really good in AAA last year and caught sox radar. My take is basically that he's happy he has maintained his velocity and we should expect it around 92-93 and top out and 94 until someone says otherwise. He also throws a cutter in the article so maybe he'll play well with cooper.

Fegan tweeted out Banuelos was at 92-93mph and that he was really excited about that.
