QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 10:47 AM) He might still be. He barely cracked .250. We're completely sure about Profar. Ah, yes well if batting average is how we will judge Moncada's success then I imagine he will bust.

I'm old enough to remember when Byron Buxton was the last complete bust.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 06:49 AM) Manchin votes with Dems on more issues than not, and most importantly he'd vote for Dem leadership. Control of committees and what gets brought to the floor is immensely powerful. He is miles better than whatever Republican you'd get out of West Virginia replacing him. Yes I would say that Joe Manchin is better than a former coal executive responsible for the deaths of his employees

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 09:25 AM) I would have to be pretty certain that Nick Madrigal could stay at SS in the big leagues to take him at #4 With guys like DeJong and Senzel getting moved to MI positions, I think there is a strong case to be made that there is now greater possibility of unlikely guys now being playable in those positions due to shifting and the like. And some scouts are adamant he could be a great SS now, he's just at 2b because of the team set-up.

But I do want to reiterate that this is really bad baseball and it sucks to watch and I'm frustrated. But they had a month of incredibly bad baseball last July too. Helps that they had good starts/ ends to the year. If we have a great second half nobody will care.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 09:15 AM) I think Bears take Nelson if he is there, and trade back(Buffalo, Arizona) if he is taken before their selection. I wont be disappointed either way I don't think it's likely, but trading down and getting Davenport, Ward or Jackson, and then trading down again in the second, and finally getting a stockpile to move forward with for depth would be really nice. I just don't see the moves that make our pick valuable unless Allen falls or someone like Chubb gets there (take him).

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 10:18 PM) https://www.yahoo.com/sports/compare-yoan-m...-012809345.html For some reason, they decided to compare the start of Paul Konerko's career to Yoan's...because they are completely similar players with similar backgrounds, lol Or maybe it's a reminder that development isn't always linear.

I think we should familiarize ourselves with some teams in similar situations. The phillies sold off their players, then in their first rebuild year had a better showing than many expected. Young pitchers like Nola and Velazquez showed up, and players like Odubel Herrerra came onto the scene. Then, in year 2 (last year) the first half was a disaster. Injuries, pitching regression, and star prospect JP Crawford struggles. but the second half they find Hoskins and Kingery, and excitement emerged. It was enough to jumpstart things in the offseason with Santana and Arrietta, and I think they are well on pace to be good next year, (blah blah Kapler) I would have preferred to have been the brewers. They scoured the waivers and found a bunch of high performing AAAA players that turned into a diamond of consistent 2-3 WAR guys and overperformed. I think many saw Davidson, Delmonico, Sanchez etc and could see the same. Nothing has happened that has changed my opinion on where this team is headed. It's unbearable to watch this 2015 baseball, instead of last years much more fun brand. But there is a lot of stuff that will break the other way soon. Our actual pitching depth is still in AA, our hot relievers are in 2019 territory. There was a 1 year gap between our original influx of talent and the next wave behind it. So this team is a odd match and that's okay. If you've seriously downgraded the entire outlook based on 3 weeks, you didn't actually want a rebuild of young players.

Man is there anything worse than NFL Draft Twitter? It's embarrassing constantly seeing overly sensitive fans writing incredibly offensive tweets at the scouting guys because they didn't make a mock draft that they liked, and of course are idiots because some of they gave a good grade on a player that was bad previously. It doesn't seem like the other sports (can't speak for hockey) bring the same kind of terrible fan as the NFL.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 10:19 AM) Everyone seems to be guaranteeing Nelson is Hutchinson. No one knows whether that will be true or not and there is a lot more risk projecting olinemen than there was 10 years ago. College blocking schemes differ so much now from the pro game that there is a lot more guesswork in the projection to the NFL. That said, if Nelson ended up being Hutchinson, I'd take that out of the #8 pick all day and every day. Well, it helps that we have his former O-line coach for that.

Nice Yurchak game, 3/4. Good McClure showing too.

Basabe with a double, Alex Call with a homer.

I too would rather be one of the franchises in the draft that arbitrarily receives additional draft resources.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 12:27 PM) It was. And it was really interesting to see them talking about looking at college relievers. Yeah I thought that was the best part and makes sense. It's not just to find the best relievers, but to evaluate how their teams are using them and if they could be starters. ANd the focus on Louisville and Florida with that. The other part is while last summer and at soxfest there was an emphasis on how they need to spread out their talent more, as it gets closer and in this piece it's clear that isn't THAT much of a concern. They aren't going to pass on a guy in the first 10 rounds that they like just because he's a college outfielder. But after that, I guess we'll see less logan taylor's, destinos, etc.

Surprised Liberatore seen as a riser. Didn't have much to rise, hasn't performed that well recently.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 09:00 AM) Is there evidence of what the Braves were offering because I don't recall their top guys being on the table. I don't think so. There was a poster here who had some sort of source in ATL hearing things, but I just recall it was pitching heavy and the only position player that would come up was albies. I do remember a handful of posters identifying Acuna as a player who was exploding up boards with scouts and some saying that wouldn't be enough.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 15, 2018 -> 03:08 PM) Assuming he doesn’t go out for the 8th, this will be Clarkin’s final line: 7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 6 K, 0 BB Excellent start to to season for him. Yeah no kidding, I thought Birmingham was aggressive for him.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 15, 2018 -> 01:42 PM) The mlbfarm website is now a part of the mlb website and is tons better (imo) than the milb one https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/prospects/stats/affiliates Yeah the alignment on mobile kinda gets off but the box score integrated with the scores is nicer. Harder to follow actual game though. Micker with a homer

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 07:52 PM) Why is Collins sitting in favor of Courtney Hawkins getting DH ABs? That's insane. Why is Hawkins even still in the org? Courtney Hawkins is not blocking a single prospect. Collins isn’t sitting for Hawkins ABs.

QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 03:10 PM) I think we will need some luck to land MPJ. 1, 2 and 3 are some combination of Ayton, Bagley and Doncic. Then you have JJJ who is a could be a special 2 way player in his own rights, and there is always a team that likes a 7 foot defensive anchor so Bamba could be considered here. I could see MPJ going anywhere from 4-6. He's the guy I want the most because his game fits today's NBA so well, but I honestly won't be disappointed with JJJ or Bamba either. I just hope we get at least the 6th pick. Eh, it's a ways off. Plenty to dream on until it's set. -
Don't see how Sox/Twins get a single game in this weekend

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 13, 2018 -> 03:47 PM) It will be interesting to see what they do this weekend. Weather sucks, but it's also tough to postpone an entire series. U.S. Bank Stadium (where the Vikings play) is actually configured for baseball, as the University of Minnesota plays early home games there. I wonder what it would take to play a couple of games there. Wrote this a bit ago, but Adam Hoge said this is not an option due to a motocross event already booked for the weekend.
