\ I wouldn't want 2 Gordons on the team. Forget it.
-
Completely agree.

This is one of my favorite comments on this board. I tried thinking about the options but could only do so for about 3 seconds. It's like looking directly at the sun.

Does the recent success of Ely and Gio Gonzalez

I'm not saying that we could use Ely in the rotation now and that he'd be a good longtime starter in the AL. I'm saying that he's a pretty good young pitcher to have around. Have you seen the useless crap that we have downin Charlotte right now? And, I'm pretty sure that if Kenny said no to shipping Ely to the Dodgers, we'd still have Juan Pierre and his 6 RBI's in LF. -
We told Freddy. He said, " That's a bummer, man. Wait...what were we talking about? Ere....take a..hit..man....pass it back...I've got cotton mouth... where's my slurpee and nachos ? So, what'd they say about the Hudson brothers?"
-
Yeah, but somehow if he were playing here he'd be hitting .188 with a .229 OBP.
-
Why is it when Kenny wants a player he'll give up all kinds of decent prospects to get them but when he unloads our players we can't get back any decent prospects ?

Agreed. -
I think they should move up the 24 year olds to AA to see if they really have anything there: Andrew Garcia, Willy Loman, Justin Greene, Dan Remenowsky and Dylan Axelrod. They have all performed well and would have a good chance to help the Birmingham club and establish their credibility as prospects. Gilmore has not proven much and is still young. Short needs to work on his walk rate and base stealing. Don't rush him. Bellamy should have more than 48 career minor league innings before being pushed to AA.

Realistically, the only deal that bothers me is the one with Ely. Firstly, no team could acquire Jake Peavy without giving up some talent. So, at the time, this was a pretty fair deal. We don't know how it will turn out but I don't think the Sox gave up too much in this deal. It was always likely that Richard could have more success in the NL. Gio, I would like to have kept. But, once again they couldn't get Swisher without giving up some talent and it's taken him a couple of years to start acheiving his success. This part of the deal wasn't too bad for the Sox. It was the return they got on Swisher when they decided they had to dump him for whatever they could get in the next 5 minutes or whatever it was that happend that resulted in them accepting the Yankees scraps for him. I am pissed about the Pierre deal, even though he is playing much better, because I highly doubt that there was any other team out there willing to pay $ 9 mil. for two years of Pierre's contract - let alone throw in two decent pitching prospects. And, Ely may not become anything special but he did just beat the Tigers (an AL Central rival) and did the Sox really need to include him in the deal? -
Yea! Let's go for two!
-
The sad part is that there is no one in the minors to bring up to replace anyone on this team.
-
Wow. 36 posts and counting for Chris..er..Chase Blackwood. And, women think they have less power than men ?
-
Mauer and Morneau could go home and play video games on the couch for the rest of the season and the White Sox would have no chance to catch Minnesota.
-
That's t be expected. You can't start dumping players, even if you want to, on May 19th. There aren't enough trading partners yet.
-
I don't see the value in spending $ 100 mil. a year in payroll to continually battle Cleveland and KC to stay out of the AL Central cellar. And, I disagree, there will plent of good prospects to be had for this group of players. But, that's why they need to dump them all. They need a lot of prospects and because the organization has been rn so poorly for so many years they have very few good prospects currently. Which, again, is my point. They need to gut everything and start over the right way. I don't want to watch this crap anymore. I'd rather watch a bunch of excited young kids win 60 games a year for the next few years while we pile up high draft picks, prospects, and develop them the right way.

Over the next two months the White Sox should move: A.J. - he'll bring a good prospect. Ask Texas for the best of their 4 young catchers and a minor league arm. Let that catcher and Flowers duke it out for p.t. now and see what we have. Konerko- this is probably the best time in years to deal him. He could really help some team and the financial commitment isn't that large. He could yield a really nice prospect or two. Rios- yes, it would be nice to keep him but why? To see if this team can finish ahead of KC ? It might be better if we got the number 1 draft pick instead. Besides, the Sox gave up nothing for him so it could be a steal if they get a goo dyoung talent for him. Jones- trade him now while he's playing well. Again, a steal if they get a nice prospect. Putz- same as above. Floyd- as soon as he rights himself and he will. Peavy- same as above. Buehrle- send him to the National League. If the Cardinals don't want him then someone will. Take what you can get. Trade these 8 guys for the most young talent that we can get and start over. For this year, keep: Pierre- no one will take his contract so they are stuck through next year. Linebrink- see above Teahen- ditto ( atleat the Sox have his replacement already for 2012 Morel) Might as well hold onto the rest of the team and add the young guys to it. They can't be any worse. Kotsay, Vizquel, Garcia and Nix let them play out the year. They have no trade value.Same with Quentin. Decide next year what to do about him. Start over next year with our core of young guys and hopefully they will draft high and well for the next few years. Maybe they can fix the organization in that time with a much lower payroll and the money invested into international scouting, better coaches, scouts and minor league player development with a new organizational philosophy. Why continue down the same path that's proven to be ineffective?

What was KW's best post 2007 season move?
WHITESOXRANDY replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Alexei Ramirez. Signing a major league average at least, defensively and offensively, shorstop for a million bucks a year. A steal. -
If you are JR. who is on your BIG BOARD to replace KW?
WHITESOXRANDY replied to chisoxt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is the first time that I've ever said this but Ozzie has to go now. His vision of how his teams are going to win just doesn't work. -
Trib cracks open a new can of worms
WHITESOXRANDY replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The whole premise is stupid. The Sox could trade for any player but what's left of the team after the trade? Viciedo isn't going to interest, let alone excite, the Brewers. So, the Sox send Rios and Floyd to Milwaukee for him. Would the Sox be a better team ? Not at all. The only way that KW makes a deal like that is with minor leaguers. And, the Sox have crap in the minors. -
Agreed. That's why I'd go with: Beckham Rios Quentin Konerko Teahen Jones Ramirez A.J. Pierre I think this lineup would score a lot more runs.
-
Maybe he needs glasses.

Jon Gilmore: 10 Game Tease or Breakout Candidate?
WHITESOXRANDY replied to Ozzie Ball's topic in FutureSox Board
Just the fact that the Braves dumped him off so quickly makes me feel that there's little chance that he'll amount to anything. -
There's no telling what Ozzie is going to do. Even his statements are open to interpretation. However, right now, Jones should be playing in atleast 8 of the next 10 games. I'd be shocked if that didn't happen. And, this is the reason that I liked the Jones acquisition - he should be out there for defense alone. If he just provides decent offense then the Sox are better off with him because he's clearly the 2nd best outfielder on the team. Pierre is worse than I thought in LF. I saw him play CF and I didn't like that but I thought he'd be good in LF - he isn't. Kotsay is a nice bench player for the right team but this team is in need of a big bat so desperately that they can't afford to be playing a Pierre and a Kotsay much.

That was awesome! Thanks
