  1. I love the idea of Davanon. He's really a perfect fit imo.
  2. Whether Miggy is locked up longer then Jon is really irrelevant in my mind. I want to win the damn thing again this year and imo Jon gives us a better chance to do that then Tejada does. Worry about the Garland situation next year, I'm just not a fan of making a void in the pitching staff to upgrade at short where Juan is still a solid option.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) I must be watching different games than others, because I think Tejada would be a huge upgrade over Uribe. If you put Tejada on our team instead of Uribe, the offense would be improved to the point where you could trade Garland and still feel like you have enough to compete for the championship. Also, I'm not too worried about Tejada's attitude. A lot of s*** went down with the Orioles, and I'm sure if he was in a competitive situation, he'd be busting his ass for 162 games. As much as I love Juan, Tejada is a huge upgrade and would be a welcomed addition. That being said I would not trade Garland, period. I wouldn't trade Jon straight up for Miggy, our pitching staff is to damn good and when you have the 5 guys we have, that alone can lead you to a championship. I don't want to go through a whole season with the Duke as the 5th starter again even with an improved offense, it would make this team worse. Pitching>Hitting.
  4. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) What we need: 1) Either a backup at 3B or a backup at SS. With Uribe's experience & arm strength he could become #2 on the depth chart at 3B. In that case a new #2 is needed at backup for SS. Ideally a quality backup at 3B is what we want. Using Uribe is a plan of last resort. You really confuse me at times Juggs, you explain the whole Mack deal and then you go on to say how we don't have a backup 3b.
  5. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) We filled one hole today with Mak. The utilty guy. We still have 3 remaining: 1) LH RP 2) 3B backup / SS backup 3) CF with speed I did not see enough good things from Anderson last yr to where I'm convinced he will not struggle mightily playing everyday in CF. The fact he's had some surgery this off-season doesn't help his cause. Owens is tearing up Winter Ball & with his SB talent might surprise us all. But if KW has an opportunity to get Crawford & move Pods to CF he should do it. The plain simple fact with Harris is that he's worth more to the team as trade bait than as a player. 2=Mack and Pablo 3=Anderson and/or owens. With Pierre gone we're going into the season with Brian and Jerry fighting it out for cf. Both of them have good speed so that's not a problem.
  6. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) Buehrle said in an interview that Frank told him he could be a fulltime 1B again. He said it on the Dan Patrick Show. There isn't a team out there dumb enough to let Frank be a fulltime 1b again.
  7. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Hermanson got by the last two months pitching like s*** i do not care what anyone says. You know i was one of the only cotts supporters around here. I did not want him to fail and you know it. LOL, Hermanson pitched like s*** because he doesn't throw hard. Of course. You didn't like the signing so you never would admit he pitched well.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) Podsednik sucks ( oh ya he is one of the best lead-off men in baseball... )... never really bashed the sox, alot of people said much worse than i did. I i do like the indians, i don't see what the problem is. I was the only one that could admit the indians would be damn good in 2005. Said their pen would > ours ( most people thought they would repeat what they did in 2004. Most os soxtalk also thought their offense would suck and they would not get near their 2005 numbers offensively... oops. There was nothing to update for a long time and then BOOM and i have not really had time. Updating a free agent list on soxtalk was not my main priority but i will try getting it updated soon. Ok, Mr. Pat myself on the back. You owe me a sig cause of our Cotts bet, you also said Hermy would suck so lets not get to full of ourselves.
  9. Bump. On now, not sure when AJ is going to be on though.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) I have barely been around give me a break. Last year i was on top of things before most people. You get no breaks.
  11. Julio has become one of my favorite players. The guy can still hit and he's very fun to watch.
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) You are redirkulous... :headshake I hate you too.
  13. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) I think Timo gets way too much hate around here. ^
  14. I've never really had one favorite player, I have players I like better then others but when it comes to the Sox I've never had one favorite player. I'm weird like that.
  15. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) He was a component of a solid bullpen. Your snapshot of Marte consists of blown saves and various forms of bed wetting. I believe his inconsistency was due to an injury more than mental problems. His breaking ball was consistently flat, and his delivery was ackward. If the White Sox felt it was injury related, and were unwilling to treat his trapezius issues, then perhaps it benefits us. But until information is released which indicates that, I'll continue to hold my position trading him for Mackowiak alone was unnecessary. More than any quantifiable reason for trading Marte (high whip, lack of control late in the year), I wouldn't mind keeping him as insurance. Can you depend on Hermanson, Cotts, Politte all posting stats similar to their 2005 totals? Bobby and Neal are pretty much sure things in my mind. Viz and the Duke are going to be pretty solid even though everyone hates viz though he was fine last year. Dustin is the biggest question mark obviously with his back so yes I'm definitely worried about him. Cliff I think will be fine as well as long as he stops throwing that stupid 2 seemer.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Maybe I just undervalued Marte last season, but was he really a VITAL piece of our team last season? Really? He was a vital part of trying to blow that lead against Cleveland. The guy's mechanics are all f***ed up right now, he's giving away his slider, he's a headcase, and he can't throw strikes. He's done, he was awesome in 02 and 03, started to decline and 04 and was flat out awful last year. All I know is I'm happy he wont be trotted out there against a tough lefty in a tight game ever again.
  17. Still a solid, solid pitcher. That's probably to much money but compared to what some guys have got that's not to bad. Nice move by the Kitties.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Pablo is an absolute butcher at 3B. At the beginning he was a butcher there, towards the end of the year he played pretty damn solid at 3rd.
  19. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) WTF? They already have Javy Lopez who is one of the best catchers in baseball. He'll dh. Got to love the O's though, they can't pitch so of course they add more hitting.
  20. Love it. I think Damaso is done and Mack is a verstatile, solid bat off the bench.
  21. Very interesting deal, Marte is a stud but obviously the Bosox just left themselves a glaring hole at ss. Another deal must be on the way.
