  1. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) so we can all piss and whine and f***ing cry over every little pissant move our GM makes? damn... how soon you morons forget what we just accomplished. ENJOY what is happening... and realize that management is not sitting on their ass while everyone gets better, we are getting a LOT better. It's funny cause most of the contenders in the AL have not got that much better yet the team who just won the world series has got much better. Kenny knows what he's doing and he's doing a hell of a job making this team a legit WS contender this year and beyond.
  2. Expect the unexpected. I really have no clue what is going to happen next.
  3. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) Even though I like the moves that Kenny has made thus far, I can see where you're coming from. I have no idea why people are flipping out, though. So what, the dude is sentimental. Don't let that stop you from responding with some classless nonsense. It's more the fact that he's calling Kenny Williams evil for trying to improve the team, that's ridiculous. I think all of us are going to miss certain players that are now gone but I want to f***in win this thing again, last October was to damn fun, I want that again.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) I know they added Beckett, but they have lost Renteria and it looks like they will lose Damon and possibly Manny. Mueller is gone and Schilling is one year older. How have they improved? And the Blue Jays? Come on, they're the Blue Jays. The Angels used to scare me, but we proved that we can dominate them (even though they were Colon-less). That only leaves Oakland and the Yankees as the teams that look like threats. Oakland never succeeds in the playoffs and the Yankees have been finding ways to lose with all that talent, so I don't see anyone but ourselves in the way of a second straight pennant. If you don't think Boston has improved then the Yankees sure as hell haven't. Neither of those teams scare me to be honest. The A's are going to be good but they do not scare me come playoff time, to be honest the two teams that scare me the most in the AL are in our own division, Twins moreso then the Tribe.
  5. QUOTE(TLAK @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) Every one of them except Frank contributed, thats how that team worked. Sure they all contributed but outside of Aaron none of them were important to this team at all. We've got rid of our 3 worst pitchers and have added a guy with a number 1's arm, one of the better lh hitters in baseball and one of best utility guys in the game. Right now this team is much better then lasts on paper.
  6. QUOTE(TLAK @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Intellectually I know you guys have a good case. But after years and years and years of failure this group of guys put it all together - so KW responds by tearing them apart. He's not tearing anything apart, we've lost 1 guy who played a major role for this team last year.
  7. f*** YOU KENNY WILLIAMS, f*** YOU FOR BRINGING US THAT WORLD TITLE AND f*** YOU FOR TRYING TO MAKE THIS TEAM BETTER. I CANT BELEVE YOU WOULD TRADE THE GREAT EL DUQUE, MY GAWD. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  8. Grain of salt. Right now..yes obviously Bmac is in the pen but just cause the Sox say they want to keep all 6, means nada at this point.
  9. Worst. Thread. Ever.
  10. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) He's a future 30/30 and possibly 40/40 guy. Guaranteed.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) KW makes mistakes once in a while. Last year everything worked out perfectly, even the greatest GMs don't have that happen too often. I do think if he trades him it will be to the NL or to a second or third tier team in the AL. He wouldn't want Garland to bite him in the ass next season. Every gm makes mistakes so sure he's going to make some, but my point is that he's closer to the Garland situation then we are and he obviously feels that he offered Jon a fair contract and now he has to move on.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) Just look what Beane got for Mulder is all I have to say about that. and dont look at what he got for Huddy.
  13. QUOTE(Beastly @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) Can someone recap some of this thread? I want to know opinions without spending and hour reading all of this. A lot of people like the deal, some don't, sf1 doesn't like the yankees.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Evidently not accepting the team's first proposal for a contract extension, believed to be 3 years/24 million means you don't want to play for the White Sox according to Soxtalk. A lot of people are speculating on what Garland would command in the open market, and the figures on this board are so much higher than the White Sox reported offer, he would be a fool to accept said offer. Well considering Kenny believes that he needs to move on from Jon I think I'll go along with him, considering he's a little closer to the situation then we are.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) Think about, I know what you're saying and understand what you're coming from but personally, I would not want to mimic the Yankees. I would rather have a team that battled to the end and won a World Series old school style than have a team with no chemistry, a bunch of superstars, and a lot of big ego's. The White Sox won the World Series in 2005 with clutch hitting, great pitching, defense, and team chemistry. Nobody hated anybody else on the team. None of out players tackled any cameramen. None of our players b****ed and demanded a trade. Sure Marte was a headcase but did you see him jumping around in the bullpen after PK's grandslam? And yeah, Carl was a nut too, and while he was mad about getting out of the 3rd spot, he put up and shut up and contributed. The Yankees are not a "team" like the Sox are. They are a bunch of individuals. And getting back to the minor leagues, the Yankees' have a pretty-much non-existant one. It's not like the Sox are adding bad guys here.
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) That's propaganda.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Well, now that Viz is gone, I see Dotel as KW's next target. Jas called that one. Could be, that's a definite possibility.
  18. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) I can't believe you didnt have a Viz sig. Ha, well I'm not the only cursed one. Willie had gio and Young as his AAP's.
  19. I was a little sad getting rid of viz but to be honest it won't be that hard to find a suitable replacement for him.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) HIS AGE DOESNT f***ING MATTER ^^^ His age means squat to us if he's not here come next year. If you can trade from a strength to make the team better then....DUH.
  21. Miguel Tejada is a f***in stud but trading Brandon is just a no no for me and even for Miggy. If we can somehow put together a package with Garland and Uribe and make it work then I'd be all for it.
  22. QUOTE(VAfan @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) If KW now turns around and trades 18-game winner 26-year old Jon Garland then he will have made things worse. Jon Garlands age right now means absolutely nothing to us. It's fantastic that he's 26 but he's a goner after next year anyways so it does not matter how old he is.
  23. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) Getting mine 13 game plan.. Am I correct to assume that we are passing out the rings on Tuesday and not the Sunday Game? Correct.
  24. For the record Joe Crede is not a fa after next season, I'm not sure how that rumor got started but it's definitely spread.
  25. Adding that 8 mill is absolutely huge so that makes things a lot better. You definitely have to wait and see now to see what other things happen cause this could have a trickle down effect. Whether you like the trade or not I can't believe anyone would say they lost faith in KW after this move, especially when Vazquez hasn't even taken the field for us and Young hasn't played above AA ball. If Coop and AJ(don't forget how aj can help pitchers) can do there thing we could have 3 years of a younger Jose Contreras, just think about that for a little while. Overall, I'm torn on the deal a little bit cause I want to see what else happens but I got complete faith in Kenny.
