  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) ChiSox7546: this isnt gonna be very close Chisox3443: i betcha it will be Hmm. Whoever that guy is will prove to be a genius in the end.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) Reggie Bush>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the god you worship Frank Thomas?
  3. QUOTE(trev76 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Does anyone know when the College football bowl games are announced im anxious to see if notre dame makes the fiesta bowl They did. Now you don't have to be anxious.
  4. Reggie Bush has 105 yards rushing with 3 minutes left in the first quarter.
  5. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) i'm very very tempted to try and put somethign together to get down there. Does that involve picking me up here?
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) Prediction: Long of the Year...take the points and UCLA (21 point underdogs). Final Score: UCLA 49 USC 46 I expect a total shootout and a close game. I'm picking UCLA because I'm biased. UCLA has a dynomite offense, USC has no defense. UCLA has no defense and will not be able to stop USC's offense. Turnovers will be the difference and if UCLA wins it will be because USC lost the football (uncharacteristic of them). In all honesty I think USC will win (but I'll make my prediction of UCLA anyway) but its going to be close and it will be a fun game to watch (total shootout). Didn't you predict UCLA to finish outside the top 25 a few weeks ago?
  7. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) I must be totally missing the boat with Furcal. Before this season, I saw a guy that played defense very similar to Jose Valentin, with fielding percentage included. I also see a guy that happened to have his best year defensively in a contract year. I also see a guy thats already 28 and should have been in his prime for the past 2-3 years, yet none of the season's would put him anything more than slightly above average at the SS position. I see a guy that in his 4 full years in the majors is averaging 12 homers and 56 rbi's with over 600 at-bats each year in a potent Braves lineup. I must be missing something big here if teams are offering him anything over 6-7 million a year. Why are you looking at his power numbers? The guy is a good player but what the dodgers are offering for him is nuts, no doubt about that.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) Did they get Benson? Not yet, but Benson for Julio has been rumored.
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 04:43 AM) Why is it that Baltimore can't seem to remember that pitching is a part of the game? This is the same franchise that had Palmer, McNally, Cuellar, etc. :headshake The Orioles are a mess. Abreu is obviously a great player but Erik Bedard is by far their best starting pitcher and they want to get rid of him? Right.
  10. Colorado starts off the game with a nice drive, they fumble on that drive and Texas strikes with the first score. 7-0 UT.
  11. QUOTE(Wealz @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 12:21 PM) Lot's of things have changed since last year. Like What?
  12. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) maybe it's just me but i say he goes back to the Braves and shows loyalty to the Braves. I really doubt it. I think Furcal is waiting for the biggest deal possible. While this deal is obviously way to much as far as money per year goes, I think Furcal holds out for a 4-5 year deal.
  13. QUOTE(Wealz @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) The Ozzie Plan offers so many different possible combination of games that it would be near impossible to process orders over the phone in a timely fashion UNLESS the customer has his act together. Internet only is definitely the way to go. I ordered my ozzie plan over the phone last year, worked fine.
  14. Why the heck would the Padres trade Mark Loretta for David Wells?
  15. QUOTE(timotime @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) you are like the kid in high school who hates the assistant principle, the one that is the disciplinarian. if that guy is gone, another will fill his shoes and do the same thing. welcome to reality. its the same thing with boras- if all his clients were to fire him, there would be some other aggressive agent who would pick all those clients up. so no, i dont follow, because thats the way business works in a capitalist society, regardless of what industry you are in. (i did not see your edit until i posted this) The White Sox won't deal with Boras, so yes the Boras factor is huge no matter what the player is or what he's worth.
  16. QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) I definitely understand where they are coming from. When I got the DVD, I was certainly surprised that there wasn't more coverage of the Astros. I obviously didn't complain about it, but I did notice it. Hell, they followed Sox players, I'd have liked it just as much to have some behind the scenes stuff of the Astros. Seen what their locker room was like after the games and what not. But it's all good, I love the DVD, and I'm going to go pop it in right now. Ok..lets think about this. We won the world series, who is going to buy this dvd more the Sox fans for 'Stros fans? To be honest it never even crossed my mind that the Astros would be on the dvd that much as far as behind the scenes crap goes. If they won it, I wouldn't have bought the dvd and wouldn't have expected extensive sox coverage.
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) I dont agree with Congress doing it, but I wish there were some force out there somewhere that could rectify the atrocity that is the BCS. I think we all do. I hate the bcs beyond belief.
  18. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) If there was a color halfway between green and black, I'd use it. I mean, this is a guy that plays Twins baseball, and we all know how hard that spanked us from 2001 - 2004. This is still a team that has Johan Santana, a bunch of no-names who turn into superstars against us, and, of course, their dreaded minor league system, which will invariably produce a new generation of Sox killers as it does every damn season. Hopefully we luck out again and they get injured or come off to a bad start, but never, ever count out the Twins. The Indians might be the media darlings, but the Twins are still the team that gives me nightmares. They're a machine, right? One of your famous posts from the beginning of last year.
  19. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) I congratulate the Twins on their 2006 Division crown. He's baaaack.
  20. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) This review has convinced me to go out and buy the DVD. It's a great dvd.
  21. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) Huh? I think something got lost in that translation. I think Iguchi is fine in the number two spot. I don't advocate any linup changes from last year, Juan can hit 9, I like that. I'm not sending any memo to the sox to go look for a number 2 hitter; I'm sending a memo to the board that the Sox shouldn't trade for Juan Pierre. We don't need a number 2 hitter, which is why we don't need to trade for Pierre, along with a million other reasons, most of which deal with how bad a hitter Juan is, and that BA can't be any worse while coming much cheaper. The Sox want a new number 2 hitter, nobody said anything about you wanting one. That's why Pierre has been brought up so much cause the Sox want to move Iguchi down to make use of his power.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) Okay, while I don't like the BCS, Congress is f***ing pathetic for getting into some of these things. Words right out of mouth.
  23. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) IS HE GOING TO HIT LEADOFF FOR THE SOX. Sorry about shouting, but christ almighty, listen to yourselves, we need a #2 hitter--he will not hit leadoff if traded to the Sox. He will hit number 2, which would be a mistake. I'm not sure why everyone is trumpeting his OPB, it was terrible last year--.326...wow, quite the leadoff man. Career you say: .355. I concede that .355 is a decent enough number, but it sure as heck isn't noteworthy, not for a "leadoff" hitter. He has speed, but rarely gets on to use it. I'm kinda tired of looking up all these stats on my dialup, so if anyone wants to pick up the anti-pierre cause that would be cool. His 2006 salary is going to be above 5 million, FYI, which of course is about 4.75 million more than any of our in house options. Roughly, 1/17 of the whitesox total payrole would be going to trade for Juan, plus whatever talent we have to give up, and I have to think the marlins ain't taking El Duque or Marte, they want prospects. His job as a two hitter would still be to get on for Thome and Pauly behind him. He can move Scott over cause he's a great bunter, he'd be a great guy to hit and run with cause he doesnt swing and miss a lot, and he gets on base at a very good clip to where as Thome and Paul would always have someone to drive in with Scott and Pierre in front of them. Juan would be a great fit as a number 2 hitter here. Sorry, but his slugging just doesnt meant that much.
