  1. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) 65/5? We overpaid. No way is Konerko worth $13 million a year, objectively. But with the money bins that medicore relief pitchers arae building today, in the context of the inflated FA market this year we may have actually underpaid. Hehe.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) :headshake :headshake :headshake Fans, be happy!!! We have a top three 1-2 punch in the league. BE HAPPY! Why you headshaking at me, what did I do?
  3. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) I think there is a chance they still bring Frank back in a platoon role with Thome. Check out their splits. Frank hits better against lefties and Thome hits better against righites. Neither are platoon players.
  4. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) I would've thought KW would have some loyalty toward Big Frank. Oye ve, we all love Frank but what do you want: Frank Thomas on the team or another world championship?
  5. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) pierre iguchi thome Konerko dye aj crede uribe pods We would want a Pierre type so we can hit him 2nd and utilize gooch at the bottom of the order, SO we get Pierre and keep tad in the 2 hole.....BRILLIANT
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) This makes my winter. We might as well send Kenny on a plane to the Caymans for the winter, because the hard work is done for the REAL executive of the year. Welcome back Pauly So we got a team that just blew through the playoffs, we bring virtually the same pitching staff back with a better 5th starter and a full year of Bobby Jenks, and we add one of the leagues best left handed sluggers to team up with pauly in the middle of the order. I think I'm satisfied.
  7. Is it spring training yet?
  8. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Levine has been wrong alot more than right, If he is right well a blind squirrel finds an acorn sometimes. It's on espnnews, it's legit. PAULY PAULY PAULY
  9. This made my f***in day. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
  10. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) so this is different than the DVD already released right? You're so smart.
  11. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) I still think he resigns with us, If he turned down a 65mil deal, what makes us think that he will sign a 60 mil one... I would like to know if Thome was able to call and talk to him, as well as KW. I think most people knew and believed right at the beginning of the offseason that Paul was either staying here or going to the Angels. He either wants to be on the west coast or stay with the sox, the money had nothing to do with him turning down Baltimore.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) Aaron Rowand is a World Series Champion center fielder. Jim Thome is a career stud that is proven yet unproven. Before we fall too much in love with KW, although we all do, lets consider what the PK & JG trade for Randy Johnson that didnt happen would have done for last years WS run. If Jerry Colangelo wouldnt have punted then KW would look very bad today....Thank Goodness! No offense but you basically just pulled that out of your ass. There were rumors that PK and Garland were being offered but we have no freaking clue if that was true. I could tell you that Kenny balked at that trade because he didnt want to give up both Jon and Paul.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) Dave Wilder, the same guy who said Bobby Jenks was ready last season, thought Owens was ready in August. Maybe..maybe not. I mean, he's obviously been hitting very well but the Met was perfect for the type of hitter he is. The guy has still barely played professional ball, I'd like to see him play in a less spacious ballpark like charlotte first and let him continue his development. I like owens and I like him a lot but I don't want to rush someone like him when we have other options. It's hard to find very good leadoff hitters and down the road owens has a shot to be a very good one, I don't want to mess with that opportunity.
  14. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) Of the 5 things you mention here, the last three (CF, 2-hole, logjam) are all solved with one move. That move's name is Owens. Owens is still very raw and I'm still not sure whether he's ready. I would like to give him another year in aaa and then give him a shot to make the team in 07 and I'm pretty positive the sox feel the same way.
  15. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) i would say the vast majority of Sox fans didn't know about it. I would say most on this board knew about it, it's been talked about over and over again on here.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Not really that was Buehrle's 1 bad season, Garland wasnt really all that good 4.51 era, Colon was decent for a #2 but with the season he had it would prob put him as the 4th or 5th starter on last season's team.... Buehrle, Garland, and Colon were all very good down the stretch that year and the offense just went to sleep in september. Also, the only reason that team didn't run away with that division is because the offense couldnt hit worth a nickle the first two months of the season.
  17. QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) It depends what kind of money is involved. If it's straight up, it's a salary dump of Posada. His 2007 will probably be guaranteed after he meets his games played clause next year. Pavano's value is lower than any of our starters (not counting Duque). Not only is he more expensive, but he's been ineffective for most of his career including last year most importantly. Duncan's a good prospect, but c'mon, who has a better farm system, Sox or Yanks? Just for the hell of it: Propose a trade that you think would be equal to the yankees deal, from the sox.
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 11:26 PM) Edit: was it OldSox? I'm starting to doubt my memory. That sounds right.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Im sick when people say we didnt win with Clee, Maggz, Thomas......thats because our pitching sucked back than... our closer was Koch blowing everything and we never had a 5th starter and Garland was mediocre at best. You throw in the pitching staff for the 2004, 2003, 2002 teams they make the playoffs and possibly win the WS too. 2003 we had the pitching staff to win it all even with the 5th starter void. The offense minus Carl Everett choked it up big time.
  20. QUOTE(OilCan @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) WTF!?!?!?!? From the article: Is this just plain Baltimore BS?!?!!?? No. This has been known for a while.
  21. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) Not even if they call up Felix Diaz to take over Buehrle's spot in the rotation? Blah, you win this round.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) I see #2 http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=9&cfg=bb&c=4&yr=2007 The thing you're looking at is top by position.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) And thats all there is to it. I don't care if you want to call me a blind fan, or a homer fan, or whatever. After last off-season, and the work Kenny, Rick, Jerry, EVERYONE did to acquire the right pieces to win the World Series, WHATEVER moves the organization makes, I will support, because I have put my trust into them. They are going to do everything they think is right to make this team a Champion again. Everything. This is 100 percent how I feel. I will not complain about 1 thing the sox do this offseason, Kenny and the organization have earned that right for atleast this offseason.
  24. QUOTE(farmteam @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) So how good is this Eric Duncan (or something like that) or whatever the commentators mentioned? I though the Illini were pretty dry in the recruiting department this year. I'm never on the up and up when it comes to recruiting (well, occasinally, I just haven't read anything in awhile). Got the yankees on your mind?
  25. QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) Garciaparra could fit too. The whole point is, if Konerko bolts, they will fill in with other very good pieces to compensate. They won a World Series, they want to win another, and there are opportunities on the marketplace if they get creative. There are always opportunities and these guys are always thinking ahead. I really hope the whole PK situation sorts itself out before Monday. That way if he bolts Kenny has the whole winter meetings to find us a replacement.
