  1. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) Isn't technically Tony La Russa the first Latin manager to go? He was born stateside so maybe that's the distinction Lou Piniella is I believe.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) Just about every team's hometown fans dislike the manager or tend to be extremely over critical of him. It stems from watching every damn game of the season and having the oportunity to 2nd or 1st guess every move a manager makes during a game. Did you know a lot of Braves fans are upset with Bobby Cox for only winning 1 world series over the 14 seasons they've been in the playoffs? It's true. The managers that we see as being great and would love to have them managing our team are heavily scrutinized and in a lot of cases disliked by that team's fans. Excellent f***in point, kalapse....and after reading other teams message boards, I completely agree.
  3. QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) If you are looking by terms of wins and losses, then yea, it can probably only get worse. But even I dont think anyone is going into next year expecting this team to repeat (I would love it if they did, but I just don't see it happening). lol, we don't even know what the team is going to look like yet and we sure as hell haven't won the series yet so slow down there buddy.
  4. QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) man i swear a firework went off like right in my window that night. scared the absolute s*** out of me. i could smell the gunpowder or whatever. It didn't hit you?? Damn, I missed.
  5. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) I'd love to see MJ! I'd rather have someone associated with the team in some way not just another bandwagoner even if it is Mike. JMO.
  6. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) My sense is that Hawk throws out the ball at one of these games. The WHite Sox have to do this. Daley should get one. So should MJ. Nobody else besides Frank over Hawk. IF they don't do this, it will be very sox-like of them to blow this opportunity. THe crowd will go nuts if he is there. MJ? No thanks.
  7. 6 and 7 are my two favorites on the list.
  8. SRO

QUOTE(peanut33tillman @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 06:09 PM) I believe so but am not postive bue yes I could've sworn I saw tix selling for SRO(Standing Room Only) You were probably looking at different teams cause I know the cards sell SRO.
  9. SRO

Wasn't for the alds or alcs so I highly doubt it.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Actually that makes it clearer. "FANS WHO PURCHASE 2006 FULL SEASON TICKETS..." If they didn't process your order, you didn't buy tickets. It sucks, but technically true. And yes people are going to be PISSED. And honestly they have a right to be on this one. This whole thing was worded terribly, nobody knew what the hell was going on cause they couldn't get through on the phone and now this. Some people took a chance and had it backfire but they have every reason to be pissed here imo.
  11. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) A CHANCE not that they WOULD get them. I don't think they expected the response they got from what I can tell. That's the problem though Kap, they worded that whole thing so poorly, that's why my dad wouldn't jump at it until we talked to a rep which we never got a hold of, I can easily see how that would trick some people.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) Yeah, that is going to be a mess... Eep. There's going to be some kind of uproar due to this.
  13. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) just got off the phone with them...if you have not got a call you do NOT have tickets Wow man, sorry to hear that, that aint cool at all.
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) At this rate I'm really hoping we play Houston, because i think we can match up better w/ their lineup in their park. St. Louis on the other hand..............Either way, i am curious as to how Oz is going to make out the lineup card in the NL park. Obviously, top priority is giving PK protection, and w/ Everett out, who bat's behind him? Dye? AJ? Crede? Rowand??? Personally, I'd like to see Oz go w/ this lineup..........Pods, Rowand, Iguchi, PK, Dye, AJ, Crede, Uribe, P.........But I imagine he will probably go w/ this one.......Pods, Iguchi, Dye, PK, AJ?, Rowand, Crede, Uribe, P.............Considering the pitcher has to hit, I think it's extremely safe to say the BP will actually pitch in the NL park. Let's just hope their not TOO rusty Cliff Politte should bat 5th. Honestly, I think you'll see aj moved up to the 5 hole.
  15. Plan B it is.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) MLB controls CS and WS tickets. Why would they do a lottery for some teams and not others?
  17. My step mom and I both got through saw the tickets and then ticketmaster kicks us out of the system. I SAW MY f***IN TICKETS
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) It'll be like that ESPN commercial...where someone is always going after the trophy (I think thats what they were going after). So Rowand will whack someone and say he's got tix, we'll all find him and it continues until the lucky person finds his way into the gates Pssh, if I die those tickets are coming with me.
  19. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) I suggest finding someone you know with tix, and killing them. Its pretty simple. That's been my backup plan all along.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) Actually I'd say this is why in some cases, it's better to serve up a meatball to a guy and let him see if he can hit it than it is to walk a guy. You better throw a meatball when the go ahead run on deck is albert pujols.....whoops.
  21. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) How many minutes do you keep trying? I'm sure this thing will be sold out within 10 minutes. The alcs tickets sold out in like 40 minutes or so, I'm sure this will be much quicker.
  22. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) I've got so many people working for me, I feel like a damn ticket broker. Ditto, that being said I still know I won't get anything cause life hates me.
  23. To answer the title of this thread: Both and neither. If we play the way we did in the alds and alcs we're going to win this thing but if we play bad baseball we're going to lose to either.
  24. IMO, this deal makes a lot of sense for next year however doesn't make to much sense for the series. This deal is basically a ticket brokers dream considering they can basically get their money back by selling one ticket, that being said now cub fans and more people who have a lot of money and just really never gave a s*** about this team are going to be at the games even moreso then the alcs. More diehards are going to be screwed and alas the stadium is going to be much quieter and give us less of a homefield advantage. People were complaining about the noise for the alcs and there's a good chance it could be worse this time around. That's the thing that bugs me about this whole thing. But hopefully I'm wrong.
