Houston @ Sox - World Series Game 1
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Clemens on the road scares me Not to hard to figure out why he's been so much better on the road and it's not to hard to figure out that the cell aint exactly a pitchers park.

Sox Fest SOLD OUT!
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) I cant believe it sold out already. Usually I pick up my tickets in early november. This will be the first time in years that I won't be able to go. Hopefully someone has extras that I can buy. It would suck to not go this year. If KW and Ozzie thought last year was a love fest holy s***. Everything you said goes for me. Usually book the freakin hotel in early November and have been to the last 5 or so, wow, what next regular season tickets sell out before I buy my ozzie pack next year?? With my luck that will somehow be possible.

Sox Fest SOLD OUT!
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) Also if you are 21 years old or older (much older in some cases) you can always spend the evenings at the Hyatt bar. That is one of the highlights of the weekend as many players, coaches, and fans hang out up there. LIES, you know you don't have to be 21.

Ozzie going off on Mike North
QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) Jay has to grow some balls. To learn how, he should listen to Gammons talk about the Red Sox, or Rush talk about Reagan. That kind of criticism takes big balls. Not the crap that Jay writes. I know you like Jay but I'd still love to see Hawk just knock his ass out one day.

Sox Fest SOLD OUT!
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) There will be plenty of daily passes around. Remember when someone books a room they give them 4 passes for each day, which means most people will have two extras to each day, as more rooms are booked by two people. Your best bet is to ask around here as it gets to be January. Ahh....good point. Anyone nice enough to help a rowand out.

Houston @ Sox - World Series Game 1
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) Ok let's chuck Kevin Walker out on the mound for us then. Bahaha, the aussy made a funny. You know what I mean, all the splits can be thrown out the window imo come saturday.

Houston @ Sox - World Series Game 1
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) Ok so lets get the lowdown on Roger Clemens. Away splits, 1.32 ERA with a .191 BAA. Gulp. Night games, his ERA is .77 worse than day games at 2.10. Outdoors he has a 1.52 ERA. Gulp again. In September though, he had a 5.40 ERA with a .292 BAA. He just wasn't K'ing batters that month as he had only had 13 in 4 games started, way below the usual norm. He's not good with RISP with 2 outs, 12.23 ERA there. 5.87 ERA with RISP, which is pretty good compared to other pitchers. Looking at his pitch counts, if there's a slight weakness, it's his starts. ERA's of 2.63, 2.40 and 2.21 from 0 to 15 - 30 - 45. So we need to get on him nice and early, because after that well he's pretty damn good. Looking at our hitters against him, Jermaine Dye is 6 for 18, Joe Crede 3 for 5 with 2 HR's, Paul Konerko 8 for 18 with 5 doubles, Pods 5 for 14. Pierz, Everett don't have good numbers, Uribe is 1 for 2, while Rowand's never faced him. Throw all those stats out the window, come saturday they mean nothing.

Keys to beating Houston
Most of these games are going to be decided by 2 runs or less so one of my key is if Taveras is in the lineup keep him off base cause he'll produce a run himself if Freddy or Jose is out there. Besides that, get Podsednik on base the way he was getting on base for the two previous series.

Mulder for Haren, Barton, and Calero
QUOTE(3E8 @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Huh? It's just a fun little tidbit for anybody who appreciates Sabermetrics. I understand your point and I agree that it wasn't a good trade for the cards, I'm just not much of a fan of win shares, didn't mean to sound like a jerk though, sorry if I did.

Roger Clemens
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) Wtf? That's very strange. Was she a Sox fan? It's a weird, weird story. She also said the stros would win 10 to 2 that day and they did.

Mulder for Haren, Barton, and Calero
QUOTE(3E8 @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Haren win shares = 15 Calero win shares = 5 Mulder win shares = 12 Net win shares lost = 8 Net salary added in '05 = $5,896,500 WHOOPS! I'm sure Jocketty cares so much about win shares.

Houston it is...
QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) My only concern is this: Minute Maid is very similar to the Cell, and we've been much better all season when playing on the road in a bigger ballpark. Busch would've been a better fit for us. I still think we are a slightly better team than Houston, but I'm definitely more concerned about them than I would've been about the Cardinals. But hey, that's why they play the games. Bring it on. The good thing is a lot of the balls paul just misses will get out at houston. Who knows how that park is going to play for us, we'll find out though.

Houston it is...
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) wow this makes me nervous and I dont know why Cause we have an oppenent now. I just got nervous as well, I also got nervous right when the angels beat the yankees. Just how I am I guess.

Houston it is...
This figures to be a ridiculously low scoring series, so because of this I'm sure we have a high scoring series on our hands.

Ok, now they can do that.
