QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) It's basically September. I know what we have in this team. Its a team built on great pitching, and a very good bullpen, with a streaky Offense. Isnt that what we thought coming into the year? There is a very good chance we go 3 and out in the playoffs this year, a very good chance. There is also the chance that our bats get going in late September, and we make things happen in the playoffs, a good chance. This team is flat out a streaky team, and we all just have to hope to catch the right streak. Once again I guess this is how you interpret streaky but I don't consider us streaky at all. We had 1 stretch where we played absolutely horrible but besides that we've been pretty consistant.

It'll be either the Marlins or Astros. The Astros might have a a bit of an advantage cause all the NL East teams most likely still have some games to beat up on each other.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) Life as a Sox Fan: Too many f***en pessimists around you. He gave up a double on a later pitch . Sexson did not hit the 102 pitch. If you all want to complain get your cry baby asses back in the game thread. Let some of us enjoy the moment. Some of us have different ways of enjoying the game of baseball. I love the 100mph fastball. Who's complaining? I love Bobby but I love him because he can get guys out not because he can light up the gun but that's just me.....

I wish Damaso and Neal threw right handed. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) He did allow a double on the play. That seems to be forgotten. I love Bobby as much as anyone but who cares what he hits on the gun, don't get me wrong it's fun to watch but it really doesn't matter......

QUOTE(One Pump Chump @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) To get back on topic... I have talked to redandwhite about this before. Ozzie is not the best manager in the game...not even close. Probably not even a top 15 manager. And, IMO, he is probably one of the worst, if not THE worst, in-game managers in the league...and while that is an opinion, the mass would agree. But without Ozzie...are the Sox 78-47? Is there any other manager in the game that could have the Sox at 78-47 right now? I don't think so. So ya, he is pretty much Ditka. These guys would run through a wall for this guy(or at the very least, into a wall), and you can see it day in and day out. This basically sums up how I feel. He's an absolutely horrendous in game manager but this team is no where near as good without him. I love his managing style as well. -
QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) like, i love him more than hawk.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) Message boards? Um, no. Feeling the pressure of being consider ESPN radio's Chicago affiliate's "baseball insider"...perhaps. Now, I'm not saying the guy is making up stories. Wait... Is that what I'm saying? I don't know. It can't be a good thing when you don't know what you're saying.

Lets assume Bruce is right here, that still brings us right back to where we were on the 31st, needing the reds ownership to sign off on the deal. I'd absolutely love for this to happen and I'm already getting my hopes up but I just don't see it happening.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Spark, catalyst, chemistry... Next I'm going to be given a lecture on osmosis. I agree w/ the op. Pods will help b/c his obp is higher than anyone's, save Konerko, and b/c it takes Timo out of the lineup and out of the leadoff spot (lowest obp of anyone with nearly the same amount of pt). That's no small thing, but it won't make anyone else hit. Pods hit well at the beginning of the year and our offense still had problems. Why would it be any different now? It'll help, but we still have problems. Actually having pods on base helps the guys behind him a lot, so I completely disagree with that statement. Also we were scoring a ton more runs at the beginning of the season, so your point is off base imo.
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) So, we are all converting and starting an "I love Timo just like Ozzie does" fan club? I've never disliked Timo, so I'm not converting to anything.
-
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Timo has delivered a few clutch hits than I can remember: -Yesterday's go-ahead single. -The go-ahead 2-run single again Min (even though the Sox lost in 16 innings) -The game-winning hit on Memorial Day against Anaheim -The game-tying hit against Oakland. He also threw out Ryan trying to score the tying run yesterday. I'm not saying he's a great player or anything, but he's delivered in the clutch more times than a few other guys on the team. Go ahead and rip me, I don't care. Bingo.
