QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) If it ended today, the playoffs would be Soxs v Soxs Anaheim v Twins Angels are 3 1/2 games up on Boston for 2nd best record and the Twins are 1 game up on Cleveland for the WC (others include Bal 2 1/2 back, and Yanks 3, Texas 3.5, Tor 4 GB) Is it to early for me to say if the Twins don't win the division that they have the wildcard locked up??

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) just outa curiosity, whats up with your fetish for ron villone? Prolly the fact he's very good.

What are you smoking buddy. Garcia>Clement. Garland>>>Wells. Garcia>>Washburn. Also, Schilling is still very much so a question mark.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) Oh my.. they just had another one on.. Something about eating the other team for lunch.. They added that one once Bobby got called up.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) Say no to Eddie! He has lost velocity and is playing with a partially torn rotator cuff. He is a trainwreck waiting to happen. He keeps getting the job done though. The thing with Eddie is he never relied on velocity to get hitters out so while it's obviously still a concern, his drop in velocity isn't a career ender like it was for Koch.

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Id never deal Gio, kids gonna be great. He's in high a ball. He's got a long way to go with some injury and durability questions hanging over his head. He's got a chance to be special but that's far from happening at this point and Burnett already is special.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) Jenks has pitched 1 inning in the minor leagues, and Baj 8, if the Sox have a chance to acquire a proven veteran like Eddie the Eagle to put him in that role, they'll do it. Actually Jenks has pitched more then 1 inning in the minor leagues and Baj has pitched more then 8

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) The thing is, he's probably going to get more than Freddy, since he'll be the only real good starter available in FA if he decides to go that route. Some team like Detroit could offer him $12 million a season for 4 to 5 years. If he gets on the open market he's going to make a s***load....no doubt. Think about it though, if you can trade for Burnett and lock him up, not only is this years team set but next years is basically as well.
-
If AJ gets traded here expect him to be resigned quickly. Think Freddy or even quicker.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) Prior gave up 6 runs and 5 in the 5th inning. Julio Franco hit a 3 run homer with 2 out. I love Julio Franco, that guy never ceases to amaze me.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) I think Burrnet will be on the block, and with Eddies ??? situation with his shoulder, I don't think its going to take alot to get him. Add to the fact I really have it in my head that this franchise wants to deal Marte, Eddie will take his role on. I think something just like this could go down. I'm not disagreeing with you, just wondering why you have it etched in your mind that Damaso will be traded?
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) I honestly think this senerio could REALLY, REALLY happen. Sox land A.J Burrnet for Marte,Bmac, and OF prospect(don't think Anderson or Sweeny because of Bmac in the deal.) Sox get Guardado(take Marte's LHP role.) If that happened Tony you wouldn't be able to wipe a smile off my face for a long f'n time.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) Ok, lets assume...Marte, Tracey or Gio, and Sweeney for Burnett. Who here pulls the trigger on that deal? I'm basing this off what Rosenthal said the Marlins were interested in (in terms of pieces) as well as the fact that the Sox would refuse to give up Bmac. If thats the case I'd pull the trigger on this deal, however I'd hope the Sox would try to reup with AJ. All that said, even if they didn't I'd still be really tempted to make this trade, especially if they then pulled the trigger on a deal for Wagner or another solid left handed reliever. Marte is good, but Burnett is very good and would give the Sox a filthy rotation. I'd do it assuming either another left hander is added to the pen or kenny finally just says f*** it, kevin walker sucks I don't care if he throws with his left hand or his ass he's just bad.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) wait theres only 24 hrs left till the deadline

QUOTE(go-sox05 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) Burnett had 14 strikeouts yesterday. Has 111 on the year. Yeah he's alright. That performance by Burnett yesterday is overrated. I'm a fan of AJ, no doubt but not because of what he did yesterday.
-
I'd love Burnett but would hate to lose Damaso unless of course Guardado was acquired, ok now I'm just going nuts.
-
I'd prefer a White Sox vs. Insert NL team here world series. If the sox got in to the series I could care less who they face.
-
QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) A sweep puts the Sox at 60 wins for 1/2 way. I'm not saying, I'm just saying. Go SOX Oakland's obviously been hot as hell but if we're going to to do it, we have the right 3 guys going.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) College is overrated Can you call my mommy and daddy and tell them that.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) If you had to trade a current core guy on the squad for a chance at Rocket[hypothetically speaking] or for another guy that you think could extremely help this team, who would it be??? Here's the choices: Pods Arow Dye Crede Uribe Iguchi Konerko Pierzynski Thomas Anyone in our pitching staff minus Jenks and Walker. No one.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) I'm still laughing at the 8.5 mil Contreras makes. Ya, but just look at Jermaine, Carl, Scotty, Aj, Tad, Mark are making, that's highway robbery. I also see Garland was designated for assignment and Felix Diaz was recalled

Welcome, welcome.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Its just a rehash of the Southtown article. However, I can't say I'd give up Bobby Jenks because I Think he can help the team now, plus when your keeping your payroll down and are already spending big bucks in your starting rotation, I think its apparent you got to develop relievers from within (cause you can't afford to go out to FA for both, imo). Cotts and Jenks can be two of the better relievers in baseball and the Sox will be able to control them for a while. Of course Politte and Hermy were pretty nice FA pickups, lol. On a sidenote, Alou keeps talking about how good the Giants pen will be next year. I do think the Giants will have some interest in Willie Harris, especially since I think Ray Ray will be traded (he's having a good year too). Having Hermy, Cliff, Neal, Damaso and Jenks all atleast through next year makes me giddy

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) I didn't see his last start but I saw you talking about how he pitched pretty well despite the stats. The big thing I have noticed is that his secondary stuff looks there. The only thing is he's struggling with his velocity (but that could definately come back as his arm gets closer to 100%). At the same time when his command is on (and he had been rolling up until that previous start) he's still dynomite. He has good movement and is a total beast. Like I say I'd trade a few of the Sox top prospects for him, but I'd also be quite interested in Omar. I love Uribe to death but Omar is a leader that could help this team while Uribe could turn into a super utility guy giving the Sox incredible depth. Plus he can spell Crede at 3rd at times. I don't necessarily have a problem with it and I don't think Omar is the kind of guy that would have any type of negative impact on chemistry. On top of that I really think he'd help this team down the stretch and hopefully in the postseason as well. Obviously he's signed for a year too long, but whose to say the Sox can't acquire him for this year and than trade him off to someone else later on. Omar is hitting .303 in a pitchers park. Drop him to the 9 spot or even slide him to the 2 slot, moving Guchi down, regardless, it would give the Sox a little bit more pop and we all know he can play D (so can Uribe though). It also gives the Sox an extra weapon if anyone goes down (knowing you can plug Uribe in at any of the infield positions). The move would spell the end for Willie though because right now Ozuna >>>> Willie. What you said about Schmidt is dead on. My take on his last outing was it was just one of those games that all pitchers have, he just couldn't find the strike zone. Anyways on to Omar, I have a great deal of respect for Omar and I agree he wouldn't mess up team chemistry, however that contract scares me off a bit, don't want to be stuck with him for another 2 years. I love Juan defensively and it'd be really hard for me to change that left side of the infield unless you're getting an all out stud. Omar is damn good, I just don't know if it'd be worth it but that's just my take.
