TRADE THREAD II ~ July 2 - July 8
QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) SF flagship station was talking about Schmidt to the Sox. It looks like it will be Jose Conteras, a high prospect and a lower prospect... The host said that if the deal goes through that KW would like to re work Schmidt deal and add on a few more years Did they make it sound like it was almost done?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) It's gonna be Matsui. I know it. And those out east will go insane. Either that or they f*** us over by putting 2 sox players. They love to throw Frank on that thing, watch 'em do it for the hell of it.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) I like that idea. I really started buying into the Halladay as the SP for the ASG, and then I heard that. I really would like to see the Sox be rewarded in some way for what they've done up to this point. However, in a way I don't want to see our pitchers have to be in the real game, for the sake of our season. I'm torn. I'd rather Mark not start, I'm going to be excited to see Jon and Mark be there but I'm going to be holding my breath with every pitch, I'm paranoid like that........

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) I'd say we'll have Pods on there. We'll have to stuff the ballot box big time if we want a shot. Ha, me and willie were just talking about the same thing. We always get a guy on that damn thing and some dirty red sox or yankee wins it.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) Izturis? Wasn't he hurt for a good while? Look at his obp and he leads off for them. I love watching him because of his defense, however he shouldn't be in here.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) I'm agreeing with Gammons. He thinks Mark should start to award the White Sox for the best record. He must have got smacked in the head, I wasn't expecting that out of him.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) He took Duechebag over Hermy and Politte? You've gotta be kidding me. I said the same thing but he's the only rep from Oakland. EDIT: If you're talking about Duchserer(or however the hell you spell it)

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) I remember all those years that Frank was stiffed out of a 1b spot because 1b in the AL was so deep. My how things change. That's what happens when players stop juicing

QUOTE(Yoda @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Amazing how he had 30+ HR's a couple of seasons ago and now he is designated for assignment. He just wasn't the same and I wonder why? His pharmacy was sold out of flintstone vitamins.

Always good to have a .240 hitter representing your team.

GAME THREAD 7-3-2005 SOX vs A's
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Contreras always has good stuff and quite frequently, he sucks. While its a good indicator of how good someone will perform, I'll take great command and mixing speeds over pure stuff anyday. Schmidt, when healthy, is one of the 5 best pitchers in the game. This is when he is clicking on all cylinders. Just look at his game log over this season, he hasn't really put a solid streak of good performances together like he did the past 2 season. Personally, I think the guy is pitching hurt. I agree 100 percent. I was just commenting on his stuff because that might be an indicator that he's getting healthy. As you said a healthy Jason Schmidt is an absolute stud.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) I can't see the Giants trading him without getting 2 of the 3, if not 2 of those guys, and someone like Gio. Gio's to young for Sabean

GAME THREAD 7-3-2005 SOX vs A's
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) If the price was right....I can say that I think the price minimum would be two of the following three: B-Mac, Sweeney, Anderson. If that is the case, no. I'd also like to see him at least throw a few gems and get his heat back up to a respectable level before we would even consider this. The last I heard, SF said they were going to exercise his option for next year for 10.5 mil. If the package includes two of those three I'm with you completely, no thanks.

GAME THREAD 7-3-2005 SOX vs A's
QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) So if today was a good day for Schmidt... what's a bad day's line look like? It was a bad game obviously because he was falling behind every hitter, I said his stuff was good.

GAME THREAD 7-3-2005 SOX vs A's
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) There's only one problem. If he was the Schmidt of the past 2 years, I'd say yes. However, he has a 5.11 era in the NL and has already had a DL stint this year. He is not, at least to this point, an outstanding starter. Well boz obviously my scouting report means nothing but his stuff was good today. I was watching the game on mlb.tv and he had a fastball moving all over the place, a nasty splitty and a good late breaking curveball. Today was just one of those games pitchers have, home plate was jumping around on him and he was just 2-0 on a bunch of hitters. If the price is right, I'd personally love to have him. Once again what I think means nothing though.
