  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) Were gonna be there the same time. I'm gonna go the 25th when my spring break officially starts. I can't wait. Cool, do you know where you're staying?? Have you looked into airfare yet?? Should be fun, like I said it's my first time, I can't wait.
  2. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) Well Dye, will get hurt sometime during the season, Carla is a DH, Timo could share time with Escobar.. BUt come on I lost credibility.. you mentioned Gload and Harris in RF.. are you kidding me, this isn't your PS2. BOTH suck in the OF.. I know you have a hard on for willie, and to each his own, but to say that he starts over bochard.. is just plain nuts. I don't want to see Gload in the outfield either but I'd throw him out there before I'd start Borch in right. As far as willie goes, I'm sure jeckle means willie in center and aaron in right.
  3. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) ANd if Mags puts up numbers like he has in the past.. who is the dumb one? The Tigers.
  4. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) Diaz...Two good major league starts and one okay one, the rest were terrible but he was jerked around too, dominated AAA. Grilli...Zero good major league starts and about 2 adaquate ones, rest we're terrible and he sucked just as bad in AAA. Grilli hasn't proven s*** over Diaz, IMO. Grilli had a lower era as a starter. Also while Grilli never had any great starts, atleast half of his starts the sox had a chance to win the game. There is no doubt that Felix's control is much better then Jason's but Grilli's stuff is also much better then Diaz's.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) Hitting so many homeruns weren't the problem. Hitting so many solo homeruns were the problem. Homers aren't a bad thing. It's just, when men are on base, it's a lot more productive for an offense. I'm going to kind of disagree. Obviously homeruns aren't a bad thing, however when you have to hit homeruns to win games, then yes it's a bad thing. The entire team has been hung up with the long ball for far to logn now, having to many homerun hitters was part of the problem, imo.
  6. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) I'm one of the few that is hoping some other team picks him up. As long as he's on the team theres a chance that KW will use him. That scares me to death. The fact is Diaz is a better pitcher. I'm sure he's a nice guy but I don't see him being anything better then the next Jim Parque. Diaz might be the better pitcher in the sense he showed he could pitch well out of the pen but as of right now Grilli has been the better starter.
  7. QUOTE(silver and black @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Little o-t, but what will we do with O-E-O sound bit? Trash it.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) Without any information on his injury That's about the stupidist thing I could think of doing. I assume the deal was still on the table when Magglio came back from the injury and probably got taken off the table after he was officially gone for the season but I could be wrong about that, just an assumption by me.
  9. Whether you like Kenny or JR the sox front office handled this whole ordeal with class while Magglio did the exact opposite.
  10. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) While my league is substantially more complicated than what I will explain here, I'd just like to get opinions on whether I am getting good values on who I am keeping. Therefore, I am keeping it simple. Here is the gist of things, $275 dollar cap, 5 x 5 league, there are 12 teams. You must retain 6 to 10 of your players from the previous season. Positions are as follows: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, Middle Infield, Corner Infield, 5 OF spots, 2 Utility Spots 5 Starting Pitchers, 3 Relief Pitchers, 2 Pitchers (Relief or Starting) In total, you have 25 Roster Spots plus 2 minor leaguers, which are irrelevant to this discussion. So what I am going to list is the list of 9 players I have compiled that I am most likely going to keep along with their dollar values. Randy Johnson $39 - I figure I have to keep, especially since he's a Yankee Jason Schmidt $26 - No brainer here, especially if healthy all year Mark Buehrle $15 - I am on the fence on this, but decent value Freddy Garcia $9 - Again, the Cell scares me, but worth the risk (I think) Zack Greinke $5 - Good value as a 5th guy in my rotation AJ Pierzynski $1 - No brainer Paul Konerko $7 - Again, have to keep at this price Hideki Matsui $16 - On the fence Jim Edmonds $16 - Good value, health is a concern as he grows older So basically, just anyone with good fantasy knowledge, your two cents please. I am trying more or less to decide if these guys are good keepers at these dollar values. The main ones I am concerned with are Randy (although I am certain he will go higher in the auction if I let him go), Buehrle (can he repeat his high K totals), Garcia and Matsui. Any further comments are welcome as well. Here's my advice aboz, I'd actually let Randy go but that's tough to let someone of his quality go and I'd definitely keep the other 4. As far as the position players you mentioned definitely keep aj, pauly, and Edmonds. For me it kind of depends on how other outfielders are priced for whether or not to keep Hideki. Just my advice aboz.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) America West or Southwest would be the cheapest most likely. America West's hub is Phoenix area so a lot of times they have some deals. If your lucky you should be able to find something for 180-200 roundtrip, but depending on whether the flights or full it may be a little more expensive. Jas, the cheapest I've seen so far is 336 round trip, if you guys find anything cheaper can you let me know?? I'm going from the 26th to the 31st, can't wait.
  12. Uh Oh, better start looking towards 06
  13. QUOTE(TLAK @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) Any one hear anything about Jason? It's been 10 days since he was designated. Nothing on Roto, or MLB transactions. I don't see him making the team outright, but he he could be pretty handy to have in Charlotte if somebody gets hurt. I agree and no I haven't heard anything yet either. I assume it's a good thing though if we haven't heard anything.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) Seriously dude...give the guy a break....you're kind abeing an asswhole. Nah man, that asshole doesn't deserve a break. I'm sorry but he's the one who took his parting shots at the sox, he's the whiny ass baby, he deserved to get his ass booed, maggs=jackass.
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) Mike, I don't think that's the case. No arbitration offered = no draft pick compensation if I understand it correctly. Correct.
  16. QUOTE(YoungstownIndians @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) Okay say whatever you want.... I am EXTREMELY OPTIMISTIC This year. I have been looking at the last few years as REBUILDING. But this is our year. And so far all predictions on websites have us higher than you except 1 maybe 2. This is your first problem, relying on so called "experts" to make predictions. :headshake
  17. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) Man I hate the Patriots so much.. Everyone wants to talk Dynasty but yet no one bring ups the fact that they didnt even make the playoffs two years ago Im also sick of the "free agency era" excuse... its not too hard to keep your core of stars and build around that with role players.. All the Patriots have done is draft well, it has nothing to do with the FA era.. They have drafted well and gotten players to buy into Bellichecks system.. Simple as that f***ing patsies I hate the pats as much as anyone but they're a great fricken team and there is no doubt that they are a dynasty. The free agent era isn't an excuse but it's a fact that it's harder to keep a team together in this era then in era's gone by.
  18. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) see, my problem isn't the "greed" it's more of the goign to the papers with so much s***. those "parting words" in the other thread was just uncalled for Ditto. The greed really doesn't bother me because there are a ton of players like that, it's the way he left, he's a jackass and I hope he rots in Motown.
  19. If he kept his mouth shut and just left, I would have gave him a standing O but now I'd definitely boo because maggs is a PoS. To bad I'm not going to any tiger games this year but I hope he gets booed by everyone.
  20. I hope his career goes to s***, I really do. I hope he rots away in Detroit. What a loser, honestly.
  21. Well guys, it looks like I'm going to get down to Tucson for my spring break week, I'm really excited....it's going to be my first time and should be a lot of fun.
  22. QUOTE(greg775 @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) You are class!! :headshake He's not a classy guy at all.
  23. QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) Does anyone think that is just a PR line or do you think he's serious? Do you think that Maggs would have really accepted arbitration? He just got a deal that could be up to 7 years 105 mill, he hired Borass for a reason, no way he would have accepted arbitration.
  24. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) How bout Brett Favre doesn't pull a sharpie out of his ass or get his ass laid out at mid field at Texas stadium after a td. Ok, so he likes to celebrate, I don't see any reason why people would label the guy selfish because he wanted to play in the game, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind people would have been labeling Brett a warrior if he did something like this.
  25. Anyone see the interview with T.O. He was talking about how the media was calling him selfish but he said if it was Favre they would have called him a warrior. Honestly, I can't argue with that.
