  1. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) That type of logic goes completely against the thought process' of the "Little Reinsy's" on this board. Jeez, give me a break. The sox offer to maggs was actually overly generous in my mind to begin with. Maggs is a very good player but he's not elite, he's not worth 15 million dollars, not even close imo. Payroll keeps going up and up killa, it's not perfect but it's not horrible either.
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) There are players several worthy of 15 million: There are some more I'd add to that list: Pujols, Arod, Vlad.

    Napolean Dynamite

    One of my favorite movies.
  4. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) The more I think of it... This is a horrible rumor... The O's would never ever do that deal. Yup agreed, the only person usable for them is Neal, they have a 2b and plenty of outfielders there would be no room for willie or borch.
  5. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) No. Damn that's a s***ty trade. For who??? I'd do that trade in a second. Borchard's nothing, Willie is definitely expendable, the only would I would miss is Neal but getting another stud like Ryan would give us perhaps the two best lefty relievers in the al along with steve kline.

    Crede

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) He is one of the 3 guys that are key for this season. Crede Contreas Podsednik. I'm going to add another player, his name is Health To me that is the key to the season but I agree with you those three are huge keys.
  7. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) Did anyone hear how the workout for the Tigers went this week? I would say that they must feel he looks good... or they are just feeling the need to add a player to their team. Honestly, I think it's the latter. Detroit built their fans up so high for this offseason making it look like they were going to land a couple of stars and they have just signed Percival.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Crede is that slow. You watching a different crede than me? Frank might be even slower after coming back from the surgery. When i think of a speed team i think of a team that can go from first to third almost at will. That is not gonna be the white sox in 2005. Yes, you must be watching a different Crede then me cause Joe isn't that slow.
  9. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) it's bothered me that you haven't asked one of the mods/admins to change your name to rowand33....that is unless there already is one. LOL, sorry, I've thought about it I just don't want to mess with the name, you know there is just to much awesomeness attached to it
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) When we are at full strength we have four of the slowest players in the league if not all of baseball. It is not a guarantee when someone hits a single that pierz, crede, konerko, or thomas will score from second. Sometimes i wonder if konerko will be able to score if he was on first and someone hit a triple. Crede isn't that slow. Aj and Pauly are snails and Frank while definitely slow isn't Pauly slow.
  11. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 09:39 PM) Is what? The Sox scored the third most runs in the league with Frank and Maggs missing 198 combined games. I don't know how many games Frank will be missing this year, but Dye is replacing Borchard/Perez/Gload, Uribe is replacing Valentin, AJ is replacing Olivo/Alomar/Burke/Davis, and Crede can't get any worse than the way he played last season. Plus we added a real top of the order and more overall balance to the lineup which should help provide some consistancy. Like I've said before I'd take this offense over the one we've had in past years. Add that to a good rotation and a great bullpen and this is one hell of a team imo.
  12. QUOTE(YoungstownIndians @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) Bullpen is even now. We both suck! The sox have one of the better and deepest pens in the league, do your hw please. Our rotation is also better. You guys had a great offense last year, however you lost both guys who made that offense tick last year in Lawton and Omar. The Indians won't finish .500 this year.
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Pierz is so damn underated defensively as a catcher it's not even funny. From what i have seen he moves around back there pretty well and seems to block everything in the dirt. I have seen very few better in the past five years better at blocking balls in the dirt. Why is it always said he is a bad catcher? Because of his weak arm? No fricken kidding, I'm with you 100 percent, it really drives me up a wall when people say that.
  14. I hate matching teams up position by position it's a horrible way to compare teams imo.
  15. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Hey....i thought harold baines didnt want to be the third base coach anymore, whats up with that? will he still be the third base coach? he said he wasnt the right fit for the job... This thead confuses me, anyways Harold was never the 3rd base coach and as of right now he's still the bench coach.
  16. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) maybe...if i could chose between having carmen or dave next yr, i would take carmen in a heart beat. Ugh, no way. Dave seemed like a part of the team to me somewhat like Hawk seems that way, I enjoyed listening to Dave's pre and post games, I like Carmen also but no way would I take him over Dave for that job.
  17. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Sosa is good, people just rip him because he was a cub Hes going to help out the Orioles big time this year, watch Sosa's an overrated player and has been for a while imo. Sosa always hits a ton of homers but he batted .253 with a .332 obp percentage last year not very impressive numbers. I still think the orioles finish in the cellar this year.
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) I don't put all that much stock in what baseball experts are saying, but when we get so little love in the off season I have to reevaluate what's happened. Pitching, both starting and relief are no doubt better. Speed and defense are also up. We lost power. Lee, Maggs, Jose, gone for certain and Frank returns whenever. Maybe we haven't increased all that much. Tex, the team lost it's flash that's the main reason the sox haven't been getting much recognition. Invividually the offense won't put up as many great statistics as the last couple years but this is a much better "team." Listen to your own advice and don't put much stock in what the so called experts have to say.
  19. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) I think you mean Kenny is the Joke.. How many Div Titles do we have under him.. anyone ??? People we changed managers and now players when this year fails.. who is to blame? Herb Schiender? Jimmy the Hot Dog Vendor.. When it comes down to it.. The GM is to blame period. Fire KW lets get a GM who knows what he is doing.. I read a another post and it sums up KW to a tee.. KW gm's like he played. How true is that Hell, why not blame Herb Schiender since there is no person in the sox organization with that name.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) It's a joke how he even tries to compare the Cleveland bullpen to ours... I'd take one of their relievers, that being Bob Howry. And he'd be the last righty in our bullpen to make our team. Talk is cheap. April Fourth -- Bring it... That day seems so far away, I can't fricken wait for it to get here.
  21. QUOTE(hi8is @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) ok, dont get me wrong, im just as big a frank fan as any of you... hes my favriote player and will always be... but, has anyone ever wondered if he used steroids... i know he has publicly detested them, but that dosent mean much.... im just posing a question, not picking a side then... just bored and stiring up the pot Not a chance.
  22. Told ya he wouldn't let you down Ryan. Great job Goldy as always.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) That's right Rowand, first step if admitting. Ha, I hate the team but there is no denying they are one hell of a team. Even though I do dislike them I enjoy watching them play. They're a great team.
  24. Congrats Illini fans. It pains me to say this but they impress me more and more each time I watch them play.
