QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 12, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) Haven't had a Long Island in a long time, but I remember them tasting good on the way back up as well. Pinch actually had pretty good long island deals.

*Official* Work Out Thread
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 07:18 PM) Weird, I just heard about these and am considering doing one in the spring. If you have a specific question or two let me know, I know a guy that does them regularly. Let me know if you're going to do that, I've been wanting to do one of these for a little while now.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 12, 2011 -> 12:43 AM) Holy f*** grow a pair, at least drink a jager bomb or a beer. Long Islands are actually fantastic if you're trying to get wasted. Coming from a guy who took down 20 Jager bombs in 2 hrs, Long Islands are just as lethal.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 12, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) Well, f***, I don't suppose anyone as actually looked at the problems in this trade. First, the White Sox HAVE outfielders. They may not be good outfielders, but they have outfielders. If we are still including Quentin, then they have two big upside bats, one expensive contract with high upside, one talented outfielder, and one jack of all trades outfielder. That's 5 MLB outfielders right there. Jacoby Ellsbury, him, yeah, I get it, he's good. He's not going to be 9.4 WAR good every year, but he's a legitimate 3-5 WAR player, every single year, given health. That's why it's a given here and not on the field. Josh Reddick is an outfielder. Why? Ranaudo was a college pitcher who struggled in his final season in college and did not do well in High-A this year, which is a level he should atleast succeed at, considering all of his factors. I won't rule him out, but, simply, no, no value at this point. In the meantime, the Sox give up their biggest trade chip, their second biggest trade chip, and arguably the most valuable player in the entire organization right now. Um, no You say "Ellsbury, Reddick, Ranaudo for Rios, Danks, Quentin, and Sale," and then we can talk. Until then, that is worse than any of the other hypothetical trades posted on here, which is exactly what it was. If Williams authorized that trade, then he would be canned immediately. Angry Wite is funny.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 12, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) I'm partial to Loyola Marymount Ya, UCLA will be quite dangerous come March imo but they might get upset a few times in the early going because of their guard play.

2011-2012 NCAA Basketball Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 12, 2011 -> 07:49 AM) I can't believe how mad I was when he made that shot. The way Belmont was playing, I had tons of confidence that PG was going to win the game if they held on that possession. Austin Rivers has a lot to learn about the college game. Tried going around, over, and through double teams way too many times instead of passing the ball. I was pissed just cause I wanted some March Madness buzzer beaters in November. That was a fun game though, every time it looked like Belmont was done, they fought back. And ya, as talented as Rivers is, he made a lot of freshman mistakes but that kid is obviously oozing talent.

What's Plan B?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) So tell me how many times in the history of baseball a team has gone from 60 wins to a world series contender in one or two years? I'd venture to bet it is only a couple tops. Probably a lot actually.

Milwaukee Brewers win bidding for Norichika Aoki
QUOTE (beck72 @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 08:35 AM) De Aza may turn out OK. I'm just tired of the sox thinking they can go cheap at leadoff ala Pierre, and get by without solid .300 hitters at the top, It's funny cause you literally just described Juan Pierre here. Pierre was semi close to a .300 hitter while not being cheap whatsoever.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 08:10 AM) SIU got a commit from Travis Wilkins, a 22 year old kid coming back from his mormon mission. Supposedly a bigtime sharpshooter Lowery has actually done a good job of getting the talent level back to where it needs to be, lets see if we can actually keep these guys in a Saluki uniform for 4 years and lets see if Chris can coach them up at all, my guess would be no but hope like hell I'm wrong.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 12:42 AM) Apparently, the offer is being taken to player reps for a vote. Take the f***ing deal. Also, Stern said a 72 game schedule would start Dec. 15 That's great for the Bulls, who aren't tool old and are deep. It's bad for the Celtics who will get tired due to age and the Heat who will run LeBron, Bosh, and Wade into the ground. 72-0, take that 96 team!

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 12:21 AM) Jon Heyman sounds like the #chisox are expecting to hold onto carlos quentin, talented yet inconsistent player who hit .254 Not buying it as that would make no sense whatsoever.

For as awful as Carson Palmer has been for the last year and 2 games, he sure looked good in the 1st half. And Rivers is the new Cutler.

Penn State horror story
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) On the flip side of this, if someone will use Photoshop to create a picture of Paterno with a blatantly false title of "PEDOPHILE" right across it, I will gladly use it through the end of the NCAA football season. Any takers? People are going to be confused as f*** if you're posting with out the Hennig avy.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) By all accounts Paterno has been nothing but a saint for PSU, we all make mistakes. And even if its entirely true, I still think its hard to justify firing Paterno for not calling the police. Jesus christ man, this is more than f***in mistake.
