  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) How many gms have had that kind of money and not won at least 1 ws? How many have won 2 in that time frame?
  2. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 07:01 PM) That's a thoughtless and empty ass reply. Try backing it up. Because there's a ton of gm's with a lot of money that have never done anything. Not to mention the great drafting and development that Theo has been apart of with the Sawx. High payroll or not, the guy won 2 World Series and went to the playoffs 6 out of 9 years, to say that half the gm's in baseball could have done that when a lot of other teams in the Red Sox payroll vicinity were having trouble just making the playoffs is indeed absurd. And for the record, I don't think Theo is the best gm in baseball and I certainly don't believe that him being the president of that team ensures any World Series wins or even playoff series victories but Cubs fans have every right to be thrilled just as the media has every reason to be fascinated with the story.
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) So an awkward situation has arisen at work where one of our office people hasn't talked to me since last Friday because I believe he thinks I banged one of his assistants. My job and all of that are in no danger, so it'll be interesting to see where this goes. Haha, that's awesome.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) That's right Jim Margalus from Sox Machine is running SSS, brain fart. And he's the best Sox writer out there, professional or otherwise.
  5. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 05:09 PM) How many other GMs could have performed the "miracles" that Epstein performed with that payroll? I bet more than half of them. That's really an absurd assumption.
  6. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Eh... I'm not sold on Theo Epstein and his buddies like everyone else. He has to show me what he can do without having the 2nd biggest payroll in the MLB every season. And it's not like I'm a Cub hater. I just don't see the fascination with this guy. I say that KW will win another ring with the White Sox before Epstein ever wins one on the northside. 2nd biggest payroll or not he's been head of the best organization in baseball since his arrival, that's the fascination.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Kate Beckinsale was really hot about 5-7 years ago. Not sure what about her has changed since...seems she's had some plastic surgery work done. Something just seems artificial about her appearance now, hard to put a finger on it. Really? I feel like she doesn't age at all, she's f***in perfect imo.
  8. 30 for 30's are the only good thing ESPN has left. I didn't see this one yet but heard great things, going to watch it tonight.

    Samuel L. Jackson

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 09:03 AM) Samuel L. Jackson?! He's in every movie. -1 for messing up the quote.

    Samuel L. Jackson

    Ya, she's pretty nasty.
  11. I would just love to hear what the radar reading was in that throwing session...

    2011 TV Thread

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) He's turning into a total gay douche on the show, I wish they would just minimize him. The rest of the show is still pretty good. Nothing compares to Blue Mountain state IMO right now. Comic f***ing gold. His character has always sucked ass. Barney and Robin pre ugly transformation is what really got me into the show and kept me hooked until now. My dvr is full of Blue Mountain State episodes but I still haven't got to them yet, I'm looking forward to seeing what that show is all about.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 1, 2011 -> 06:32 AM) Conan in NYC was awesome last night. Am I the only person that wants to dislike Hugh Jackman because of Scrubs?
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 1, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Hope KBS stays ineligible. He maybe the worst guard I have ever seen at SIU. I'm interested in how Dillard will do at Dayton and Booker at Iowa State. Dillard probably already is leading the conference in turnovers and Booker has fouled out of 3 games. I think you'll be surprised at how both of them do under real tutelage, both of those guys have talent though both of them were headcases at SIU. Don't forget Brandon Wood after dominating at Valpo is now at MSU.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) Philip Rivers has been extraordinarily mediocre this year, if not bad. He's a turnover machine. He's been plain bad.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Can't deny though that he's given Denver a ton of money and attention. Maybe that was part of it. They knew they'd be bad for a while, so why not stay in the headlines. See also the Ozzie Guillen Guide to Public Relations During a s***ty Season. Is Tim Tebow funny enough? I don't want a boring quarterback starting for my team.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) scottmerkin Scott Merkin AL Pitchers are: Buehrle, Haren, Carmona. AL Catchers are: Pierzynski, Avila and Wieters. No Beckham at second base Um...what the f?
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) The problem is the fawning, not that's he's religious or vocal about it. Warner is an evangelical born-again Christian and active in that community, but no one really dislikes him because of it. Probably because the media didn't waste so much time obsessing over it. Well some people do hate Warner cause of his wife. I like most am sick and tired of Tim Tebow but unfortunately we're all being part of the problem with this Tebow debate we're having in this thread.
  19. I actually feel that this move makes it more likely that Thornton is back...
  20. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) So happy that Mizzou is getting an early start to exhibition season with no NBA. This is my first viewing of basketball this season at any level and I'm pretty excited to have it back. Ya, it's nice to have college hoops back. SIU apparently didn't look as awful as most people are expecting us to be in our exhibition yesterday. Maybe we'll finish 8th in the league instead of 9th or 10th.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 12:33 PM) Just put on a bunch of nba stuff and wrap some chains around you, NBA lock out. I'm so clever. Sadly enough, I actually saw someone dressed as this yesterday. Idea stealer. And this weekend was awesomeness, absolute awesomeness.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) This man and his horde of rabid fellators are making me root incredibly hard against the Rangers. Yup. I actually like a good amount of players on Texas but Hamilton literally makes me hate the whole team.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) Josh Hamilton says god told him he'd hit a home run yesterday. But also says that god said nothing about winning the game. Cocaine is a helluva drug.
  24. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) He's supposedly decent in the field. I'm not sure if he's good enough to stick at SS, but I've heard he's close, which means he can probably play a fine second base. Gotcha. Thanks.
