QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) When I was standing up for Jenks he still was earning a lot of saves. In fact, didn't he blow a similar amount to Sergio? And I like Sergio. And Matt? He was really good as closer this year. I said last year I was in favor of closer by committee with Jenks struggling some. Jenks was nowhere near as bad as Done. My head hurts.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 06:09 AM) Love Venus' class, but she bores me as a player. Hate Serena's... well everything as a player. (but I love to look at her. ) Yucky.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 02:09 AM) Or...just go play action...pretty boneheaded play calling there, with no time outs. Auburn has that horseshoe wedged squarely up their ass right now. Well that was the last play of the game and if the qb pitches the ball, the rb walks it right in. I'm talking about the play or 2 before that where it was clearly a td but was not reviewed. You're right though, Auburn is more than lucky at this point. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 07:00 PM) Hope Coack Kill is ok. I know he has a history of this sort of thing. Scary stuff. I've never heard a single person have a bad thing to say about him. Sounds like he's going to be ok though. -
I was a freshman in high school and we were in between periods when everything started to go down. Teacher had the tv on when we walked in and nobody knew what the hell was going on. We had no idea it had anything to do with a terrorist attack. They "closed" our school for the rest of the day but that actually meant we had to stay there and all we did was watch the tv coverage in every class. Crazy looking back on it and just remembering how ignorant I was to the whole thing.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 01:05 AM) A good manager adjusts to what he has at hand. He shouldn't have to complain about whatever his GM did (after all, that is his boss). A good manager doesn't let a player who has constantly failed against a certain type of pitcher hit against that pitcher in late game situations no matter how much money he makes. Some of you act like Ozzie didn't have a choice in the matter or didn't have somebody better to use in that situation. He did and he did have a choice. He just chose not to because he thinks Dunn makes too much money. I guess people have their own definitions of what a good manager is, but to me, a good manager is one that deals with what he has and gets the most out of what he has. Ozzie hasn't done that since 2005. Some people are just absurd at this point. We all f***in know that Kenny has made numerous mistakes. Many of us want him to be relieved of his duties(hehe duty) as well but that has NOTHING to do with the fact that Ozzie keeps putting these players in positions to fail. I get the fact that Ozzie has some crazy cult following for some dumb ass reason but some of the moves he's made this year are just beyond mind boggling. He's literally made some of the stupid decisions I've ever seen any manager make in the history of baseball. Ozzie is seriously either trying to be fired or is just baseball retarded at this point and I'm f***in tired of him bringing my team down with him. -

Speaking of td's that should have counted, Miss State should have tied Auburn up on the 2nd or 3rd to last play of that game. Really not sure why that wasn't reviewed. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) Everyone clamouring for rebuilding and saying they would go to a ton of Sox games if the tickets were cheaper, your time is now. The games are meaningless, the younger players (even though most aren't that young) are playing, and tickets can be had on stubhub for $5. Step up to the plate. You mean when Adam Dunn and Alex Rios are in the lineup while Viciedo sits on the bench? Rebuilding starts with getting rid of the manager and gm because otherwise we'll never go through it correctly. And you're damn right that I'd actually go to a decent amount of games next season if they attempted to do a rebuild correctly.

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) I don't watch a whole lot of Tennis, I usually just get wrapped up in the Quarter/Semi's of the Majors, but that Federer/Djokovic match was the best one I've ever watched. Also, in watching the Wozniacki/Williams match, three things: 1. I really do not like either of the Williams sisters. Or their father. 2. How is Wozniacki #1?? The few times I've seen her she just loses. 3. And maybe this is just me, but I find Men's Tennis FAR superior. I despise the Williams sisters.

First off, let me say that Djokovic is clearly the best player in the world right now, the guy is just flat out awesome. That being said, he was definitely throwing quite the hissy fit today when the fans started to side with Federer. You're a grown man, man up and stop being offended that you're not the crowd favorite. Boo hoo.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 06:19 PM) He let Dunn face a lefty with 2 on in the bottom of the ninth. The pinch hit Viciedo for De Aza. Not that you could pay me to watch a Viciedoless(starting the game obviously) Sox game at the moment but holy s*** that is bad. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) I am so mad I missed those heel antics of Djokovic He seemed to get a little sand in his vagina when the crowd started to side with Roger.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 04:32 PM) This is an all time low for Soxtalk. 3 posts in 5 innings for a game thread. No Viciedo, the game might as well not be taking place.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 01:46 PM) Has been a real crazy us open so far with all the rain, 2 americans made the quarters so that's something. All top 4 seeds made semifinals though, seems like the gap after Murray is pretty big. Hoping Murray or nadal win this one. Epic and depressing match between Federer and Djoko.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 12:33 PM) SABRmetrics has jumped the shark. Hilarious.

From that list: Santos, Crain, Reed, Thornton, Santiago, Infante and Ohman.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) Again, outs made, like hits, are better reflected by this statistic called BATTING AVERAGE. Is this a relatively new statistic? I've never heard of it No f***in s***. You're the one who threw out the 11th in hits stat, Greg is talking about "tangible" statistics, so I was just trying to be as simplistic as him. But once again, thanks for letting me in on this new batting average thing, I'll look into it.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) Tangible fact: he's also first in sacrifices, which are productive outs he's called on (not decides) to make. That was fun, too. Ay, FINE. If you take away ALL of Pierre's sacrifices and don't take away any one elses, he's still 11th in all of baseball in outs made. You happy now?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) s***, who's made more? I was sure he was leading in that category. Ichiro and Melky Cabrera.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 01:44 PM) Tangible fact: He's 11th in hits. Who cares how many at bats he has? Tangible fact: He's 3rd in baseball in outs made. Who cares how many at bats he has? That was fun.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 01:36 PM) As far as Juan, nice to know he's 11th in the league in hits. I state again that helps my argument that he's a good baseball player. He's 11th in the AL in hits while being 8th in at bats, so no, it literally does nothing to help your argument.

Did you guys know that Juan Pierre is still the 4th worst outfielder in baseball this season according to WAR?
