QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) That's pretty amazing. Kershaw is now 20-5 on the year, with a 2.27 ERA, 0.99 Whip, and 242/52 strikeouts/walks. Does he win the Cy over Halladay or Lee?? He absolutely should.

Go ahead, drill the Sox
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 08:49 AM) We don't need to get in to a discussion of retaliation and beanball wars. Wild pitches by youthful rookies is the issue. I don't think you are going to hear a lot of chipping of teeth by the Sox or any team on a matter like this. If the coaching staff collectively feel it needs to be done they will plunk the opposing team as needed and won't be signaling their intentions to the media. Hey this link is doing all sorts of work today: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-ozziesecret080308

Alejandro De Aza continues to play very steady ball
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) Real excited about this kid. Hoping for .265/.335/.415/.750. Think that's actually a very reasonable line to expect.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) Sean Tracey just tweeted f*** Ozzie. So Oney about 35 minutes ago tweeted "Managers dont tell players to hit other plays. Player police that themselves" and literally 2 seconds before you posted that, I tweeted to Oney "Tell that to Sean Tracey."

Chicago White Sox @ Cleveland Indians, GAME 2
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 09:43 PM) And just think, his OBP is still well below 300 even with those HBP's. Maybe that should be his new approach at the plate. Just stand right next to the dish, keep the bat on your shoulder and hope you get plunked.

Ozzie is all talk, has been for years. If you're ever going to retaliate tonight would have been the perfect time, you literally have nothing to lose. It's very frustrating.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 12:13 PM) I agree that it has potential, and if anyone can make it work it's Miz and Truth, but as always I have zero confidence in the WWE writers to deliver on the promise. I think you're about to see a Johnny Ace, Miz, Truth, Nash stable. Even though Ace is horrendous, I'm fine with a new stable, my only hope is that they don't team up Punk and HHH to take it down and that's exactly what it looks like is going to happen.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) Jeff Ross dominated. Anthony Jeselnik, Seth MacFarlane, and Amy Schuman were very good. Patrice O'Neal and Steve-O were pretty bad though. Tyson wasn't that great either. I have no idea who the hell Amy Schumer is but I thought she was f***in hilarious.

Love it. I'm no where near sold on him yet but I'm cautiously optimistic going forward.

2012 Manager's Traits
QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) Ozzie will be the manager of the White Sox next year with all of the same staff I've been saying this for a few months now. I'd give anything to be wrong but I have a horrible feeling about this whole thing.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) Very true. This does bring back horrific memories of our near September collapse in '05. I'd gloss over and enjoy any Red Sox message board you can find and at least revel in their current misery. Big, big difference though. Through September 19th in 05 the White Sox were 10 and 8 in that month, the Bo Sox are 4 and 14 right now this month. We weren't collapsing, the Indians just weren't losing, Boston on the other hand is in a free fall at the moment. Lets hope it continues!

De Aza still has a .929 ops. It's still only 121 ab's but that's quite impressive regardless.

Cooper and/or Ozzie status could affect MB coming back next year
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 11:09 PM) I cant believe how comfortable people are with just dumping Mark Buehrle. Its so ridiculous. Have to make the right decision for the organization whether it's at the expense of Mark or not.

Official Boxing Thread
QUOTE (Real @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) If you honestly think Pacquiao could beat Mayweather, then you don't know boxing, period. The *only* reason the mass media has been flaunting this fight for as long as they have, is because the media hates Floyd Mayweather. They want nothing more than to see him lose. They look at Pacquiao like some sort of unstoppable force (despite the catchweights, cherrypicked fighters coming off devastating losses). Pacquiao is TOO SMALL to beat Floyd Mayweather, I'm telling you this right now. Bookmark this post, because I'm gonna tell you exactly how that fight will go down next year: pacquiao would try throwing his jab, landing at an almost nonexistant rate due to his size and reach disadvantage, and he'll try his trademark "leaping in angled-combinations", but floyd would just put all of his weight on the back foot (like he always does against aggressive/ambush fighters!) and pacquiaos combinations would serve only to gas himself out, because he'll be swinging at air. Takes a lot out of a fighter when you're hitting air, floyd doesnt even need to be particularly elusive, he'll just hop backwards (as he, again, always does against guys who try to lunge in, as Pacquiao ALWAYS does) as Pacquiao jumps in (off balance like he always does), and Floyd will nail him with pull counters and straight right hands Floyd will jab/pull counter him to the point of frustration I'm telling you right now, and people here who truly know how to dissect fights can critique me here , Pacquiao's punch output will be very un-pacquiao like because he wont be able to effectively get close enough to Floyd without getting tagged Floyd stops Manny late, thats how I see it going There is zero chance that a smaller fighter beats Floyd Mayweather, he's too skilled, too smart, too fast, and a better boxer than anybody in the welterweight division. Let's be real, Pacquiao is a JWW. He killed these bigger guys because they allowed Pacquiao to nullify his reach disadvantage by charging forward, trying to be overly aggressive. simply put, pacquiao will not be able to use all of his tools and abilities against a fighter like floyd and it'll be almost entirely due to their size and reach differences pacquiao fans shouldn't even be mad about the fight turning out that way because it'll be almost completely due to size (of course, Floyd's brain also has a lot to do with it, he'll fight the correct "big mans fight", unlike what Shane did) let me grab my flame suit, because I know it's coming feel free to actually break down how you think the fight would go (please, don't ignore the reach advantage floyd will have fight-night, and don't ignore his uncanny ability to be able to position himself perfectly in the ring to land his straight right hand lead) First off, I never claimed that Manny would win but he's certainly the one person that has a shot. If the 2 do happen to fight, I'd probably look for a Floyd decision just like I do in all the rest of his boring ass fights. But I would love to see Manny beat the living f*** out of that punk and if you don't think that Pac has a chance then you're absolutely crazy. All I'm going to say about the media scrutiny is that it's well deserved, Floyd brings absolutely EVERYTHING on himself. The guy is a f***in jackass and a moron. And I like how you think you're the king s*** of boxing. Please, I grew up and trained with boxers and martial artists since I was 8 years old, so I know a thing or two about the sport. I suppose it's not a coincidence with your attitude that you're a Floyd fan.

The WWE just jumped the shark again. Unreal. Seriously, didn't think I could get so mad about scripted fighting but that match was straight out the WCW playbook and to have HHH win? Wtf does that do for the company going forward? I don't f***in get it. Awful.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) Who? Cena and ADR. Cena with the right person can actually be ok but pairing him with ADR has made for the most boring WWE championship feud ever. EDIT: And just off the top of my head I was actually think they were going to let Henry get a decent title run until a returning Undertaker takes him out.

You're being absolutely absurd, Real. Nobody in their right mind has claimed that Ortiz was going to win that fight, it was quite obvious that Floyd was the better fighter but what he did was beyond cheap. Was it legal? Sure it was but that doesn't make it any less of a cheap shot. And if you don't think Floyd is a punk all you have to do is watch his post match interviews, from the one with Merchant to the one where he said "this adds to my legacy," the guy is a f***in joke of a human being. Unfortunately, there is only one guy on his level(and everyone has known this for years now) and I hope like hell Manny gets a chance at him. I'd pay good, GOOD money to see this ass hole get his ass kicked and I hope Pac Man gets his shot.
