  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 12:13 PM) I may be optimistic about certain things, but I am very realistic when it comes to handing out contracts and acquiring players and our payroll. We're going to lose a lot of games 9-8 this year when our bullpen consists of me, you and ss2k5 because we can't afford to sign anyone. The bullpen is not going to go unfixed by KW. We already have 3 really good back end of the pen guys and a pretty decent long reliever. Give Kenny some time and the bullpen will be just fine.
  2. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) My grandma is really failing in health, the doctors just said they would be amazed if she makes it to Christmas and my relatives are saying she looks just terrible right now. She's my only grandparent and is just the sweetest lady. My dad apparently was crying today, in my 20 years of being alive I have never seen him shed a tear, I just feel awful. Sorry to hear that dude. One of my grandmas(who happened to be my closest family member outside my mom and dad) just passed away a few weeks ago, it sucks.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 11:05 AM) Something is strange when shack is the pessimist in a thread. Other than SS2K5, and nobody can touch his homerism, shack is the biggest homer on the board. And EVERYONE else is happy. Gage going all Bill James, Shack becoming the Grinch. Weird times around this board.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) The White Sox are NOT the Yankees. Not even close to a fair example. Ya, I kind of misread your point initially, my point of everyone doing it still stands though. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:55 AM) He did sign with us, and at approximately the same price as we thought was fair, as a consensus. He did it in early December so he wasn't holding the club hostage. I'm really not sure what you want from the guy, it's not like he held out for an unfair price for a long period of time, he signed for fair value relatively quickly and left the negotiations to his agent like you're supposed to. I'm astounded. And ding ding ding, there ya go.
  5. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) That was why I used to word potential. They have the talent to have one of the best line-ups in baseball as Rios, Konerko, Quentin, Dunn, Beckham, and Ramirez could all be Silver Slugger award winners. Pierre could bat .300, AJ did this in 2009 and we really do not know what Teahan can bring. Thus Greag Walker is in a bad spot if they do not produce. Sorry no green, I really believe this. Ya, that's really not the best of ways to look at things though. Konerko is going to be worse than last year, that's guaranteed and Beckham is going to be better than last season, that's also guaranteed. Then there's also a good chance that AJ puts up better numbers, outside of that it's kind of anyones guess. We certainly have a good lineup now but it's not going to be the best in the league, that's for sure.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) I guess I am naive then. I thought PK, our captain, wasn't every guy in the league. Derek Jeter is the captain of the Yankees too and he did it. EVERYONE does it.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) For me it's the third guaranteed year. Ok, that I understand.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:29 AM) It's not complaining. It's showing legitimate concern for the possible long-term ramifications of the deal. Over 1 million freakin dollars a year? We'll be ok.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:28 AM) So where does it put the payroll for next year? A lot.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:21 AM) Is that a lock or does he have to earn it in spring training? It's his.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:19 AM) So as of right now we have pretty much the same exact offensive lineup from last year except Dunn replaces Kotsay...right? Morel.
  12. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) I like it, very fair price and creative with the deferred money. I would have preferred DLee, personally, but I don't feel we overpaid compared to Paulie's market value at all. Exactly my thoughts. I've been saying the whole time that Derrek Lee made the most sense but I certainly wasn't going to complain if PK came back. This team is now set offensively and in the rotation, just need to add a few arms to the pen.
  13. I hate to sound like a broken record but this is seriously a no brainer. PK and D.Lee are a good bet to put up similar offensive numbers while Lee plays better defense and gives you more speed on the basepaths, and obviously just as important is that he allows you to save some money to add some arms to the pen. Memories be damned, this is an easy decision.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 05:43 PM) Where on earth would you get that idea? If 14 doesn't re-up, then they're going to be even more desperate for a 1b/DH next year. I guess Kotsay could be available and Dunn could play 1b. Because we're going to sign a 1b one way or another it appears. I'll agree with Fathom on this one. I'm still hoping for D.Lee and a reliever or two with the extra money but I surely wont complain if PK is brought back at a reasonable price.
  15. Konerko has every right to wait and try to get the best deal possible, the White Sox also have every right to move on. Derrek Lee should be option A anyways.
  16. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) My friends and i have gone to a Brunswick Zone that had all you could play Laser tag for like ten bucks on wednesday nights and the place had a bar, it was an excellent time. Ya, there was a bar right across the street that we went to before and after, like I said, good times. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 01:48 AM) Talked to the girl that saw my penis the other night. Described it a "ferociously cute." I have no idea what that means. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH and might I add HA
  17. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 11:59 PM) Didn't hear B&B today, but I heard KW say something very similar to that in an interview today... And the context I heard it in was KW explaining why he didn't want to talk about the problems between he and Ozzie. Could be two separate events. But the wording was pretty similar. I literally have 0 clue what the context of it was, I just got that text from my buddy saying that's what he said to Rogers.
  18. The Pats are definitely good but the Jets, Ravens and Steelers can all beat them in the playoffs.
  19. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 08:37 PM) Anyone hear KW snapping on Phil Rogers earlier? I guess they played it on B&B, I'd like to know what he said. My buddy sent me a text quoting KW as saying: "I'm more optimistic about everything then you are about us. And it doesn't matter what answer I give you, you're going to take the worst, most pessimistic road, so again, I'm not going to waste my time on you."
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 05:03 PM) Was it people figuring him out, or him getting a bit overworked through his first major league season. You cant teach stuff, and he has top notch major league stuff. I am not really that worried at all. ^This. Santos will be fine, as will Sale. In fact, I'd say we have 3 top line relievers right now, obviously we need a couple more dependable arms but it's no time to freak out about the pen yet imo.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) That pretty much guarantees that Bobby is back. Ugh I don't see it that way.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) I want Sale to be a starter, but if we're going for it next year he helps us most in the pen. He's young enough where one year of him in the pen shouldn't really hurt him much. If we were going into rebuilding mode, we should have given Chris his shot to be starter but since we're "all in," he helps us the most by being in the bullpen.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) Garcia is a FA correct? Correct.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) If Sale closes, who starts? Peavy or Freddy or some other innings eater that we pick up. Chris is going to be in the pen to start the season, guaranteed.
