  1. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) Wow. adding Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez, and Grady Sizemore? Yeah, I'd call that an offseason alright... Ha ya, pipe dream at it's finest right there.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) Do they have talented players? Yes. Is the majority of their "talent" overrated because they are the Cowboys and the media kisses their ass on a weekly basis? Yes. They shouldn't be 1-7, but if they hadn't been pegged as Super Bowl contenders at the beginning of EVERY season, despite not winning a single playoff game in 15 years, this wouldn't look as bad as it does. And I thought Collinsworth made a pretty good point last night. They've changed gears so many times over the years - offensive coach, defensive coach, game day coach who relies on coordinators, etc. Nothing has worked. Maybe the problem isn't coaching but the atmosphere and type of players they bring in. They won a playoff game last year.
  3. QUOTE (T R U @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 03:05 AM) I disagree with that.. go look at Oklahomas schedule that year, they weren't that great.. and even so Boise had to pull everything out of their ass to win that game and congrats to them.. Alabama was undefeated and lost their chance to play for a National Title in the SEC title game, they clearly didn't wanna be in that Sugar Bowl against Utah.. What im talking about is the Hawaii/Georgia Sugar Bowl.. I wanna see Boise State or TCU play a school like that.. I don't wanna see them play eachother, and I don't wanna see them play the scrub Big East school that makes it.. I wanna see them play Ohio State.. Im pretty sure OSU isn't going to the National Title game, and if Oregon DOES that means that OSU will be in the Rose Bowl against one of Boise or TCU since its their year to take the non BCS conference qualifier.. I think what we have seen is those teams get favorable matchups That OU team that year was a bad call away from having 1 loss that season and at least being mentioned in the National Championship picture. And that Alabama excuse is just garbage. Not to mention both TCU and Boise this year are better than Boise from 06 and Utah from a few years back.
  4. So damn excited to watch some College Hoops tonight! Still have to wait until Saturday for SIU, hopefully we can keep it within 25...
  5. QUOTE (T R U @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 02:02 AM) I doubt it. I wouldn't be fooled by what Cleveland did to New England today, that almost never happens and would be shocked if it did again.. Also, how can Jerry Jones NOT fire Wade Phillips now? They have been run off the field three games in a row.. tonight they clearly showed that they have quit.. at least for the sake of a possible spark that can prevent them from getting throttled every week, you think he would owe that to the fans.. Detroit is actually a very fun team to watch when Stafford is not injured though. They still shoot themselves in the foot way too much but that team has some upper level young talent and they're an exciting team to see every Sunday.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) Funny how a lot of us figure Vizquel will be equally productive next season yet most people figure a guy 10 years younger in Paulie is about to hit the brick wall where he suddenly declines. Just.Pay.Paulie. Taking age out of the equation it's still a given that PK is going to have a worse year next season then he did this season.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) I'm not spelling his first name Suh attempted a field goal in the Detroit/NYJ game. He barely missed; hit the uprights. (Hanson was hurt earlier in the game). It was a PAT, hilarious though. Welker also got a PAT attempt today, he made his though.
  8. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 7, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) I thought it was a hard but legal hit at first. Then the angle from the endzone clearly shows 42 for Philly hitting his helmet to the back of Collie's head. Appeared to be more of an accident than head hunting but it has to be a penalty. Hopefully it's nothing long term. That was not a penalty.
  9. Just because no one else has said it: TCU and Boise are really good.
  10. Didn't get to see yesterdays game. Sounds like I missed a dandy.
  11. QUOTE (T R U @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 12:33 AM) Its because he IS a good manager Or because the Marlins think he's a good manager.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 01:20 PM) He'll be expensive and he's no longer a catcher He played a ton of catcher this season.
  13. South Park taking a jab at LeBron tonight. Nice.
  14. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 3, 2010 -> 10:39 AM) He was less lumbering in his youth. He's always been horrendous in the field.
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) wait wait wait, as in the town still allows Haloween to take over the town by closing streets and allowing a giant street party or they stopped the over the top, college kids from three states crashing everywhere, shutting down?? That. The strip has been shut down on halloween for a while now. Hence why I SIU has an unofficial halloween the week before now a days.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) Worth noting right now is that the 2 guard spot isn't really performing that well right now. That said...a while back someone (KC?) wrote "The era of the undersized and scrappy Bulls is over". I think that's already proving fair. Not enough minutes to go around in the frontcourt...I'm not sure I'm going to complain. I still feel like the frontcourt logjam may provide the makings of a trade come Feb. While I'm certainly not going to argue that, it should be a position where we don't need much offensive production from once Carlos comes back as long as Bogans/Brewer can continue to play solid defense on the other teams best perimeter player. Agreed. Good point.
  17. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 12:08 PM) Id imagine when Boozer comes back it would make Scalabrine a permanent bench guy, I think Asik will still see the court some as backup C and Gibson always in foul trouble. Wasn't even talking about Scal. Rose, Watson, Bogans, Brewer, Korver, Deng, JJ, Boozer, Taj, Noah, Asik
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) According to the Trib, the Sox have exclusive negotiating rights with PK through Saturday. After that, the flood gates open. And he go bye bye.
  19. QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) He pretty much established that already by winning the Cy Young his first two full seasons He was being sarcastic because there was a poster on this board who claimed he wasn't elite. Anyways, did Bengie Molina get to celebrate with the Giants last night?
  20. An interesting/good problem the Bulls are going to have later in the season is how Thibs is going to cut down the rotation a little bit. It's nice having all these options but when Boozer comes back we're literally going to have 11 guys fighting for legit playing time and while that's certainly not a bad problem to have, an 11 man rotation is way too much. Besides that though, I really do love the way this team looks. High expectations from me for these guys.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 09:12 PM) My family had to put my dog to sleep tonight while I'm away at school. I'm a wreck. Sorry to hear that dude. Happened to me twice this year when I was at school, it just sucks.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) It is game 3 of an 82 game season. STFU with the MVP chant. They did it last game too. Gotta feeling you're going to be hearing that all season long at the UC. Agreed with what you said though.
  23. Favorite Soxtalk posters. As much as I love my alcohol, a top 25 beer list would be quite the difficult task. Video game idea could definitely work though.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 05:29 PM) That's pretty awesome on paper we have our defensive 3B now for the next 10 years. Hope he can hit a bit. Gotta love the new 10 year contracts these guys are brought up with now a days.
