  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 09:13 AM) Sissify baseball? Baseball players couldn't be bigger sissies if they tried. I have yet to see a professional baseball player that doesn't fight like a woman. LOL, honestly, that was the exact same thing that went through my mind when I read that.
  2. QUOTE(Grebeck Fan Club @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 08:19 AM) I'm coming to Chicago on July 4 for a long weekend. To make a short story long, I have tickets to the July 5 Orioles game and would like some advice. What are the good eats inside the stadium? What's the best way to get there? Typical tourist stuff would be appreciated. Best place for Chicago pizza, good location for July 4 fireworks (I hear there are none downtown), etc. etc. As everyone else has said, everything in the stadium is quite delicious, you can't beat the Brats though imo. Obviously that's just a preference but those things are amazing. For pizza, Lou Malnati's is the best food of all time . Due's is quite amazing and a lot of people love Giordano's too. Just throwing those names out there.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) I would absolutely be thrilled if the Sox could pull a Billingsley, Betemeit, additional Prospect (Loney or Ethier or another highly touted prospect) for Contreras, Dye and Brian Anderson (or if they want Iguchi they can have Iguchi) plus cash considerations (if necessary). Clearly the Sox may have to take some sort of contract off the Dodgers hands (or give the Dodgers cash and even then its a big if, unless Dye continues to really dominate and we get a couple fantastic starts out of Jose). Consider it one of my dream deals. I don't think we'd get a top spect for Contreras at all but we'd definitely have to throw in some money if we did.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) I'm dead serious. We are simply not to lose to a MVC school, that's the simple standard I've set for us. But I'm going to bed, towel. You're standards are too high. 10 win seasons should be the standard at this point. You guys should be able to win at least 1 game against the Valley this year but we'd still beat the tar out of you if we ever faced you guys.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) Based on the fact that Buehrle has 2 and Garland 1, I'd say that theory is dead. I'd also say they're probably under the league average for % of ER coming from inherited runners scored. Yup. I'd agree.
  6. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) I think we need to just realize that our bullpen is just not good. And that it might not get better until later on in the season. We all realize it. I'd still rather have Mac up here than Prinz.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) It took some work but in 13 starts this season only 2 of the 33 ER Buehrle has allowed this season have come via inherited runners scored. Both scored on May 18th against the Cubs, Mike MacDougal was the culprit. I'll check Garland but atleast in Buehrle's case inherited runners scored doesn't seem to be a big problem. Gotcha. You don't need to check Garland's if it's a lot of work. I was just curious.
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) We are not to lose to an MVC school, ever. We may do it, but we're not supposed to, even if they're Southern Illinois. We play 3 this year, and if we lose one, I'll be disappointed. Very funny. Maybe your goal this year should be to beat one of the Valley teams, not all of 'em? Butler has 3 or 4 on their schedule this year as well.
  9. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:44 PM) Taking my favorite pitcher who everyone knows I have a man crush on huh...? You ass. The player in your avatar might just be my favorite player of all time. Funny thing is, I didn't even know it until I realized that this is most likely the last season I'll ever see him in a Sox uniform.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) I'm not buying it yet. Crean's won zero tourney games without Wade. I've only really followed MU basketball with a close eye for one year, but I wasn't particularly fond of Crean's in-game coaching skills. I'm not sure how much of the Marquette/Mich St game you saw last year -- obviously you had your own team to worry about -- but that was one of the most embarrassing offensive performances I've ever seen. I understand McNeal was out, but there was no creativity on Crean's part. That being said... my fingers are firmly crossed about next season. I still think Georgetown and Louisville are the best teams in the BE, but we're close. To be completely honest, I really don't remember your guys tourny game that much. As for next season, Louisville is definitely the team to beat in the Big East but if Green stays in the draft, I'd say you guys are the 2nd.
  11. QUOTE(Beltin @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) I would be interested to see how many inherited runners the BP allowed to score for Mark and Jon. They have each had one or two shaky outings but overall, I have seen them pitch deep into games and at the point of departure, have given up 1 to 3 runs by the 7th or 8th. Maybe my memory is weak, though. That's actually an interesting point. Any of you stat guys know how many of Buehrle and Garland's inherited runners have scored?
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) When do we get our Salukis-Cyclones matchup You tell me.
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) Been there, done that. Didn't know where to put this, but Dominic James is coming back to Marquette. Crean's offense doesn't exactly fit the style of players he has, but man -- James better come next year with a chip on his shoulder after the poor showing at the camps (and for a better portion of last season). I really wish he'd become more of a playmaker rather than trying to be the primary scorer, but again -- Crean's offense is teh garb. You have a potentially special year coming your way next season, my friend.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 09:20 PM) Cubs fans believe that a Billy Goat is causing their problems, and Sox fans believe that Greg Walker is causing theirs... How different are we really? I don't think anyone believes that Greg Walker is causing our problems. But it's a logical change to make at the moment.
  15. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) Buehrle's all-star worthy too, W-L record aside Mark and Jon I'd say are at least consideration worthy.
  16. There's less than a 0 percent chance that David Wright is traded, no need to even bring his name up. If we trade Mark it's going to be for prospects, I hope everyone realizes that.
  17. I think I've gained about 50 pounds the last 2 days.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) *Waits for Brandon McCarthy is trash response* To write off a 24 year old 1st round pick who is putting up solid numbers at AAA is moronic. Not to mention some pretty good sources from this site said his stuff is back to being pretty damn good. Floyd intrigues me more than anyone else in our system right now to be honest.
  19. Very happy seeing these performances out of Gavin.
  20. Interesting trade to come home to. I don't even really know what to think...
  21. Mets rumors are always fun. If we deal with them, Pelfrey is still the number 1 guy I want. It seemed like he was pretty much untouchable in the offseason but who knows, things change, maybe he can be had. I'd love to deal with the Mets and steal some of these guys, Kenny really does need to hold teams hostage if he's going to deal Mark.
  22. Willie Bloomquist hits an inside the park homer and nothing? I'm disappointed, especially in you, Wite.
  23. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) Did WSCR not give money to Soxtalk when it came calling? Jeez, whenever Mike North is involved, this board always takes the other side. Like with the Ozzie situation as well. I love the Sox, but every day its another situation where the players, staff, management act like immature jerks. Grow up and play baseball better. All these ills will be relieved. North was so very mature in this interview.
  24. Saluki magic for the win.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 06:45 AM) More like a quasi-loser slap fight... Touche. More like Larry Johnson-Alonzo Mourning part two.
