QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) Alright. You got me. I'm just so disgusted by Pods right now. We all are. That being said there is always the possibility that a prospect is going to come up and struggle big time. Though I think Sweeney will be pretty quick to adjust and at least put up semi decent numbers right away, you just never know how someone will react to a callup.

Jesus, Dave Roberts has been god this season.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 05:19 PM) There's no way Sweeney could be worse than Pods. If he is, he's a fraud prospect. I'm really excited to see Boone back up, though. I think he's gonna do much better this time around. You know better than that.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) I think I had I-Rod more than Zambrano. What on your fantasy teams or something? -
QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) Where did you hear this? I know that he wasn't "blown away" by his east coast visits to Wake Forest or BC, but I don't think that makes him an IU lock. In fact, I would say that Wake is probably the favorite at this point. Besides, SIU isn't even among his favorites. As an IU fan, I think Teague is a must get. IU will be very thin at PG next year with Calloway graduating, so getting a blue chip PG in this class is important and outside of Teague IU is not looking good with any other top PG. SIU was one of his final teams for a while but yes we got dropped but I followed his progress a while because of that. I did hear IU at first but now I'm hearing IU or Wake are the two finalists. So sorry for jumping the gun a bit.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) Inge ain't that great, either. Maggs was one of the better defensive RFs when he was in Chicago. Not sure that happened to him. That said, I'd trade our defense for Detroit's current starters in a heartbeat. Inge is an absolute stud at 3rd.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) Is Game two of the Tiger double header really scheduled for 7:05?? That seems stupid. Even if it is a double rain out thing. 7 eastern. -
4.5 out.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) Garland should be the runner-up pitching wise. It's amazing that Jose shouldn't even be in the conversation after the first two months he had. I really disagree with this. Garland literally sucked for the first 2 months of the season, JC had stunk for 3 starts, that's really it. Yes, he struggled a bit before those 3 starts but no where near what Jon did for the first few months.

JD and Jenks, relatively easy choices.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 08:16 AM) What is August 15th and if you made all these bets thinking the Sox were going to repeat, why would you think they would be 10 games out? Nobody ever thought Detroit would even sniff first place at the begining of the year. So did you think we were goin to be 10 games behind Minny or Cleveland?? That bet doesn't jibe. It sounds like a bet the Cub fan would have made. He meant that the Cubs fan picked them to be 10 games out, hence how he won the bet.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 09:09 AM) I really don't think consistency is an issue with the White Sox offense. They have been fairly consistent all season, and have scored 2 or fewer runs in a game far fewer times than any team in MLB. To say all Thome does is hits a homer, fans or hits a fly out is exaggerating, considering he has a higher OBP than Dye. Thome does fan alot 120 times to be exact. Second on the White Sox in strikeouts-JD with 95. Dye is on fire right now, and Thome is going to be asked not to run as hard as he can. I think this move is good for the moment, but Dye will unfortunately eventually cool off a bit. To say this move will mean the end of the importance the starting pitchers' the rest of the way is for White Sox success is just ridiculous. Completely agree DA, fantastic post. Moving Dye to the 3 hole isn't going to do much for this team unless Buehrle has indeed got himself back on track and we can get Jose to wake the hell up. Lineup changes or not, it's still going to come down to getting at least some consistancy from the starting rotation.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) One game playoff. Definitely for the wildcard. If it's a tie for the division and both teams get into the playoffs either way then the tie breaker is head to head to determine who is the division winner.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) For that predicton, I've just started back charging you interest..... Haha, wow, I forgot I still owe you some money, I'll get that to you eventually.

Looks like Jeff Teague is going to chose IU over several colleges including SIU. Oh well, his loss. When he comes here next year, he'll find out that he made the wrong choice.
-
16 and 16. No playoffs.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) Either your reading is deplorable, or you just misunderstood my quote. I'll elaborate. Give him two more years. He'll be the best catcher in the league, maybe even the best hitter. He's a dime a dosen. He is just like Pujols. These guys come around at their respected positions once-twice every decade. Ace, I think you're confused.
-
To be honest, I think the mvp should be JD or Morneau depending on which team gets into the playoffs. Like I said though, with the Red Sox continuing to fade, Jeter is a virtual lock imo.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) You suck. You go to the University of Iowa, correct?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) The system was flawed in that the Sox had a 3 game lead over CLE with 3 to play, so it wouldn't declare the Sox AL Central champions. The Sox were AL Central champs at that moment because, even if they lost 3 straight Cleveland would only tie, and there was a series going on to decide the AL East. If NY or BOS won 3 to keep pace with CLE the other would have to lose and remove them from the wild card. And the Sox would be declared AL Central champs based on their H-2-H record with CLE. With three games left to play, there was a 3% chance that the Sox would have been in a 3-way tie, that's all it was saying, since it's not programed include tie-breakers. They literally did say something like "just because mlb says the White Sox have won the central doesn't mean they really have" in the article though.

Jeter has this thing locked up.
