Well speaking of Frank, he homers and it's 1-0 A's over the Twins. That a way big man.

QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) I'd like to see him face the pitchers in the central for most of the season. The best pitchers in the AL West are all on his team. The Angels rotation is pretty awesome.

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) Well, as I've said, one is leading his team to the playoffs and the other is leading his team to a third place finish. Wow.

Pretty good shot when we come back from this trip our season will basically be over. Prove me wrong White Sox.

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) Thome has given this team nothing in the second half. Spin it any way you like, santo=dorf, but Sloth hasn't been a run producer lately. Think his run production numbers have anything to do with our leadoff hitter having a .287 obp in the 2nd half?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) f*** that. He's gross, man. OHHHH CLAP

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) You got me. I love laser rocket power arms. You do love Rex Grossman.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 11:34 AM) Yeah, I can't speak for everyone else, but I don't pick my favorite athletes or teams by the way the athletes look. They all could look like that beast that was in the Astros pen last year for all that I care. You're lying.

Walking to my math class and when I got in there the tv's were on with both towers actually being hit.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) The win over Ben Davis this weekend was impressive, but what was strange to me is Warren Central only threw six passes, completing three. To be able to rack 500+ yards on the ground is impressive, but how balanced are they? Can they play from behind? If they can rack up 500 yards on the ground, they might be able to run the ball to come from behind. -
QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) I can't even say anything negative about that video, i've sang kelly clarkson drunk way too many times. Right, drunk, that's it.

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) If you have Jeff Wilkins of St. Louis as your fantasy kicker, you are getting good pts. 5 FGs, 2 of them 40 + yards. Put up 21 points for me in my keeper league.

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) He was great.....in April and May. He is nothing but a rent-a-player whose White Sox legacy looks to be that he was on the most talented White Sox team not to make the playoffs. He's an endnote in White Sox history. I just hope that when Frank's statue is unveiled on the outfield concourse, when his number is retired, and when he is inducted in to the hall-of-fame you don't revert to being a fan of Frank's. Oh boy. I am a Frank Thomas fan, always have been and always will be. I just really don't care what he does right now. Right now, the only 3 things I care about in baseball are the Tigers, Twins and Sox, that's it. It doesn't effect me if Frank goes 3-3 with 3 homers or 0-4 with 4k's, I couldn't care less either way. As far as Jimmy, he's had one month with an ops under 1 and you're going to tell me that he was only great in April and May? QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) That's where we differ, 44 - I do care how Frank does, and I am REALLY happy that he's having a great comeback year. He was the greatest offensive force ever to wear a Sox uniform, and I'll never forget the thrills he gave me. However, I didn't think the Sox should have re-signed him, and I'm really glad they obtained Thome. I honestly thought Frank was done. A guy of his size and age with foot injuries was a bad risk as far as I was concerned. I was glad the A's gave him a shot, and he's made the most of it. IMO, he just wasn't coming back here for a "bargain rate" contract, so things worked out as they should have. ANY conversation about what Frank would or wouldn't have done here this year is purely speculation, but my speculation is this: Sox without Thome and without Frank at the beginning of the season, and with a subpar Frank when he came back = PK and Dye being pitched around much more than they might have been otherwise = someone else at DH (Gload? Mackowiak? Cintron?) and therefore a slower offensive start = fighting with the Indians for 3rd place instead of competing for the Wild Card and (maybe) the Central Division title. That's cool and I know a lot of people are like that with Frank and I respect that. Like I said though, there are only 3 things on my mind when it comes to baseball now and Frank Thomas isn't one of them.

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 11:37 PM) Frank has carried the A's for a while. Why so much man love for a guy who will wear a Sox uniform for 2 years, tops? Well because he's been great, does that work? He's on the Sox now and he's having an absolutely fantastic season, that's probably why he gets so much man love from me. As far as Frank, good for him. I honestly don't care what he does, I know that's not the popular opinion around here but I couldn't care less what Frank is doing right now.

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) The statistics say that there is "doubt about it", despite what Rowand44 from Soxtalk.com writes. What stats are we talking about exactly? Because Jimmy has been better than Frank in every category. Anyways, Jim carried this team for a while, if we switched him and Frank than we're worse off right now, there is no doubt about that.
-
Will the new family guy be on adult swim tonight? I had to miss it for a volleyball game.
-
Jim Thome>Frank Thomas at the moment. Frank is having a solid season and good for him but we'd be worse off with Frank, no doubt about it.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) Frank Thomas is on an absolute tear. It would be nice if he cools off before we face him next weekend. Hit him in the head, no mercy.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 06:51 AM) I still want the Tigers to win today, both the Twins and Tigers have much easier schedules the rest of the way I'd much rather have the Sox take over the wild card lead and be completely in control of their destiny than have the Sox move to 2 GB (L column) in the division. Another way to look at it imo is that the with the closer we are to Detroit, we kind of give ourselves two outs to make the playoffs. If one of those teams struggle then we can get in instead of just relying on Minny to lose. I really don't care who wins today between those two, just hoping the Sox win.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 12:33 PM) Caught a little of the postgame. and AJ admitted the gun was at least 4 MPH off. I was in the UD behind home plate, so couldnt really see that much, but from what I have heard from a few people that watched it on TV, it looked like Jenks had nothing. Well Boone did hit 95 and Freddy did hit 92. As far as this thread goes, I actually could have seen it either way when Grady came to the plate, it's hard to pull a closer like Jenks when the save opp is still in tact if he's healthy. After Grady's bloop though, then you get him out of there for sure. The call with Grady just could have gone either way imo.

I love the DJ-Black Jack combo. Jack is really, really good in the booth.

Nice win, this team hates my heart but it's all good when they pull 'em out. I'm looking very forward to these next two games to see what Javy and JC have. Especially with Contreras, I'm very interested to see if the Count is back to playoff form or if that was just one dominant game against Boston.
