  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) Yeah totally. I mean, who wants to blame the pitching when we could blame the best offense in baseball, and our extremely successful manager? Jesus, trust me I've ripped on this pitching staff a ton this year but our manager certainly isn't trying to help them by putting out crappy defenses every game. Having Mack in cf has cost us a good amount of games this year and it'll continue to do so down the stretch. Like I said, this is the kind of crap that will have our team sitting at home in October.
  2. Go Cyclones??? Ya, I'm rooting for ISU so I can rub it in my step brothers face.
  3. This is the kind of crap that will eventually have us sitting at home in October.
  4. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 11:09 PM) Excuse me while I remove my foot from my mouth....ok. Lake Zurich beat Libertyville. Kudos to them. I underminded them and they are the real deal. Now looking forward to them vs. Stevenson. Pats improve to 4-0.
  5. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) well one guys hurt, and yes thornton would be a good option, but you know, we can only use him so often. Mac should be good to go and Thornton hasn't pitched since saturday, he's just fine.
  6. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) HOW THE HELL IS THIS OZZIES FAULT??? WHO DO YOU WANT HIM TO BRING IN HERE!!!! How about Thornton or Mac, they're kinda good.
  7. Ozzie is such an idiot.
  8. 4-2 tribe after 4.

A deep dish sausage pizza from Lou Malnati's is my favored food ever, so that should answer the question.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) Just gotta wait for Brian to make his way into this thread.
  11. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) We have to go 11-5 while HOPING that the Twins go 9-7 and/or Tiggers go 8-8 ? Thats a lot of stuff to happen (mind you-thats not in the SOX control anymore). More likely, the Twinks will have a better record than that down the stretch, theyre riding on "fumes" so to speak....... and the SOX will simply have to go on a 11-2 run (BEFORE 9/29 series) to assure themselves a spot in October. This team cant win 3 in a row ........... Dang, I would love to have that Sunday 7/2 Cub game back. Or that Vazquez tiger implosion game in July. Or that blown 7 run lead to KC 4/7. Or that KC game just a couple weeks ago we gave away .... No, we still control our own destiny.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) How can they be conicidental? I used almost a six year span. Soriano was also in a contract year and is in the NL. ...and in case anyone is wondering about Blalock because he had this discussion in the offseason, he sitll can't hit LHP, away, or in the second half. Ya, I can see that it's over a six year span. I just don't think a hitter like Young who isn't exactly a huge power guy benefitting that much from Ameriquest. I bet he'd hit anywhere, with any team.
  13. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 09:24 AM) you're all communists
  14. I only have ketchup on my dogs.
  15. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) Young is not that good defensively at SS and is better suited for second. Road splits: 2006: .285/.329/.415 .743 OPS 2005: .330/.384/.500 .884 OPS 2004: .280/.320/.460 .779 OPS 2003: .262/.291/.367 .658 OPS 2002: .245/.287/.359 .646 OPS 2001: .227/.263/.345 .609 OPS I'll pass. Eh, with a hitter like Michael Young I think those stats are more coincidental then not. Not to mention the same argument seemed to be made against Soriano when Nats traded for the guy.
  16. 2.34 here in Carbondale.
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 06:49 AM) Jon Daniels would want some good young SP I would imagine, even though they have a couple of good ones already. Pitching's always been a major problem down at Texas. They'd love a guy like McCullough since he went to Texas, but he'd have to be a PTBNL wouldn't he since he's not on the 40 man? Or someone like Broadway maybe. I'd say there's something to work with there possibly, if Kenny decided to go down that route. Kyle can't be traded 'till June but yes the loophole would be to make him a ptbnl.
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 06:42 AM) Would put it in the Off-Season Thread, but I think it deserves a Thread of its own cos it's very interesting; Doesn't Michael Young for Garcia and Uribe sound good now? Ha, that ain't happening but yes, I'd say that sounds pretty good.
  19. So tonight was the first time in a good 3 weeks that I fell asleep before 4 am and our dorm ends up having a f***in fire drill at 6 am. Unbelievable.

    God I hate Josh Beckett.
  21. Lee gets out of the inning after a Marte error. It could definitely be worse than 1-1 right now, Minny has threatened every inning.
  22. Cliff Lee gets himself out of a mess. Still 1-0 after 1 and a half.

QUOTE(kevo880 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) No offense, but Uribe is not the best defensive SS in baseball by any means. Yes he is very good and I have been amazed by him countless times, but there's no way any of you can say he's irreplacable. You don't think Jeter is better than him? I'm not saying to get Jeter because I know that couldnt happen, however I am making the point that he isnt light years above many people. I wouldn't mind at all getting a SS that is a slght dropoff defensively that would bring more consistency to the plate. Are there really people out there that would rather have Uribe than Jimmy Rollins? come on be serious. Ok, I never once said he was the best defensive shortstop in baseball and I never once said he was irreplaceable, I have no clue where the heck you came up with those conclusions. I was just wondering where we'd find a shortstop that was equal to Juan defensively and better than him offensively cause to be honest, there aren't many. As far as Rollins, I'd have no problem with Jimmy Rollins on this team but it'd be ridiculous imo to get rid of Juan just to get rid of him. Uribe is a solid overall player who seems to be underrated by a lot of sox fans because his defense isn't appreciated enough.
