Juan Uribe
QUOTE(kevo880 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) so theres no reason to get a SS thats just as good defensively but better offensively then right? Where we gonna find that guy?

Juan Uribe
QUOTE(kevo880 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Id have to disagree with that. At the end of last year he was being compared to the elite short stops in the AL, you really thing he deserves that? his play in the post season might have made him look like that but this season certainly hasnt. That being said, I am pretty optimistic that he will be replaced in the offseason and replaced by a leadoff hitter at SS or he will be part of a package to get a leadoff hitter. Regardless of us making the playoffs or not, KW knows the holes of the teams and knows he needs to upgrade. And Uribe is a hole on this team. He's an elite defender. Yes, he's made a few poor throws this year but for the most part he's a stud at short.

Juan Uribe
QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) Why? He's had the same bad year two years in a row. Why is he going to suddenly get better? Are you writing him an HGH prescription? What is Uribe's value? Don't you think you could easily find a very good defensive SS who can't hit worth a damn? They are a dime a dozen. His value is that he's one of the better defensive shortstops in the league who adds some pop to that position. No, he's not the greatest hitter in the world but he does have some power and can drive in some runs. Juan is a very solid player who imo is pretty underrated overall by Sox fans.

Gload in left?
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) Then why hasnt he been moved? Its pretty obvious the organization is not very high on him. I like Gload alot. He has come up big when given the shot, and is great to have off the bench late in the game. But he might be in the worst possible situation he could be in, with Konerko and Thome on the same team. If he has as much value as you say he does, there is no reason to think another GM wouldn't try to go and get Gload. Well that's been the million dollar question since we've had Ross, how come he's never had a shot anywhere in the majors. To be honest, I really don't know the answer. Maybe it's because some gm's are under the impression that he's a career bench player because well, he's been a career bench player thus far. Maybe it's the fact that gm's don't want a 1b who doesn't have a ton of power. Like I said, I really don't have the answer but imo Ross can be an everday player if given a shot.

Juan Uribe
Juan Uribe is a valuable player and I have absolutely no problem with him being our starting shortstop again next season. That being said, if we're going to play Sweeney or Fields(please no) in lf next season then we're going to need a leadoff hitter and the only reasonable position to replace would be the shortstop.

Gload in left?
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) Going along with what NSS just said, Gload played the majority of 05 with AAA, and was back with the organization is 06, now behind Konerko and Thome at 1b. If Gload was a good as some make him out, wouldnt he be on another club? Gload is no vital to this team, at all. Earlier in the year he saw the plate maybe 4 times in 3 weeks. If he is capable of starting in LF for the White Sox next season, dont you think some other clubs would have jumped a little sooner to try and grab him off the AAA roster last year, or off the bench this year? Im pretty sure Kenny doesnt list Gload as an "untouchable...." QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) Expanding on that thought... Gload is 30 years old. Its not like we are talking about a kid here. He has been a minor league free agent multiple times. If he was anything more than a bench player, we would have never gotten him on a minor league contract invite to begin with. Ross is a great bench player, a solid pinchhitter, and an OK defensive first baseman. A starter, he ain't. I'm going to respectfully disagree with both of you guys. I honestly believe Ross could be a starter if given a chance on a lot of teams, the Sox aren't one of them however. Ross can hit and he can run, problem is he's behind Paul Konerko and Jim Thome and he's not a good enough outfielder to start in the outfield(I don't want another pods in lf next season).

9-11 Press For Truth
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) I will never buy that it was a full government conspiracy, however I also will never buy that we had no idea it was coming, and it's still inexcuseable that the "greatest country ever" could let something that catastrophic happen on it's own soil. Why is this in quotes?

Twins vs. A's - 9/13/06
QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) As much as I would like to say the politically correct thing, it's sad a great talent, blah blah blah. I really don't care. When I saw that on ESPN, I said YEAH! I hope he returns next season and wins 30, for a NL team. Yup. I might be an asshole because of that but oh well, that's exactly how I felt.

Garcia still hasn't proven anything...
BTW, that's two really good games in a row. That being said we all know he has a ton of work to do but was there really any need for this thread? We should try to enjoy as many wins as we get down the stretch here.

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) He used to be a pest...but didn't he just suck against us in the ALCS last year? Well our pitchers basically just shut everyone down but Kennedy is definitely one guy I hate to see up in big time situations. Always seems to have good ab's.

Twins vs. A's - 9/13/06
I made a post right after his initial injury that I thought he'd maybe get 1 or 2 more starts and then he'd get hurt again and would be out for the year, you could pretty much see this coming. Liriano is a stud but he's going to have injury problems throughout his career.

Catch-All Anything Thread
So I had the easiest day of classes ever today. When I get to my theatre class there is a sign on the door that says that class has been cancelled. So I had two hours to do nothing in between that class and my english class. Anyways, once my english starts, the teacher walks in 5 minutes late and tells us that he didnt have the reading with him that we were going to do in class, so he just let the class out.

Predict the date the Sox get eliminated
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) What I post on the internet is not going to have ANY EFFECT WHAT SO EVER ON THE TEAM'S PLAY. I disagree. I know for a fact that last year Aaron Rowand got his motivation from reading Kalapse posts.
