  1. If we have a rookie left fielder next year, I hope to god that it's Sweeney.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) It has to be. We have one final shot at making the division a race. It may not be the biggest series of the season, but up until this point it is. We'll have plenty more series that loom large as the season gets closer and closer to the end. Basically every series from here on out is the biggest series of the year.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) It's a good thing Thome hit that meaningless add on homer tonight, just padding his deceptive stats as usual. Dude sucks, I wish we could trade him for Aaron Rowand. He's blue collar and fixes a hole in the outfield. I bet you're being sarcastic. Just a hunch though.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) Thats why I came home...... Steve and I shall be there as well. Probably give you a call when we get there.
  5. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) Been WAYYYYYY up North for the last week, so havent caught much Sox baseball. Got to watch most of the game tonight, and it looks like we are ready to to make a push for the postseason. I cant wait. You gonna be there tomorrow?
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) You would think Detroit has to go in the tank for a little while. It would be nice if the time is now with a couple of series against them pretty close together, and with a 4 game series with KC coming up. It also looks like Minnesota's crazy run may be coming to an end. The Sox could really do some damage if they got on a serious roll right now. No Liriano=No playoffs for the Twins. I've probably thought the highest of that team out of anyone on this site but if he's down for a while(which I think he's pretty much done for the year) then they're done. As for the Tigers, we've been waiting for them to tank for a while, it'd sure be nice if it finally happened for a nice period of time.
  7. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) Thank you fox for changing tommorow's gametime to 12:15, now I can go to it. And thank you white sox for magically finding 2 tickets for it about 10 minutes ago. If only some one would invite me to go.
  8. Like I said in the game thread, this is the best I've felt about this team in a long while. Jose was absolutely freakin brilliant. Awesome stuff.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) When I saw the article, I had the urge to yell out "F###" Ya, it was pretty darn obvious. Anywho, this is probably the best I've felt watching a game this year. Get a nice feeling watching this one.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) Ha, true. I was just wondering if it was me being overly critical of him, or were others seeing it. BTW..did you see my post about the Rivera balk? He always does that but like I said, I'm just greatful when he catches the darn thing. And no sir, I did not.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Please don't take this as me complaining, but does it seem like Pods overruns a lot of those plays down the line, and he ends up having to catch it on the side? Hey you know what, just be happy when he catches the ball.
  12. Waiving at his changeup.
  13. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) I literally can't remember the last time we had a starter pitch a game this good. i just can't... Its just great to see it again, I vividly remember these games last year Saturday.
  14. Yankees lose, w00t.
  15. BTW, yanks down 3 in the bottom of the 9th. One out away from an Angels victory.
  16. Uribe's play imo has to be number 1 because of the situation, taking that into consideration that's easily the best web gem in this teams history, at least imo. I'm also of the opinion that Iguchi's play is pretty damn overrated. It was one of the best throws you'll ever see, however he brought that on himself because he tripped over his own feet. If he doesnt trip then it's a pretty routine play with Molina running.
  17. If the Sox win this game then they're going to sweep. Book it.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) Not sure if Simon is posting on here while he is in the US, but just so everyone knows his flight was delayed but he made it in yesterday evening. He picked quite a day to fly in huh? I spoke to him over the phone and definitely looking forward to attending Saturday's game with with him and his Son! That's good to hear.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) There's 3 things that crowds as a whole do that piss me off the most. 1.) The Wave 2.) Leaping in excitement for high popouts that barely make it out of the infield 3.) Hootin' and hollerin' over a pitcher stepping off the damn mound/fake 3rd throw to 1st. So annoying. I really hate the booing of intentional walks too.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) The #1 that people forget about (including umps) is the comming set rule. You must come completely set for 1 full second which is something you see a lot and you hardly ever see it called. Roy Oswalt does it constantly and I've only seen it called on him once. Which helps with his motion considering he's so quick to the plate and then he can just drop that slow curve ball on you. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:59 PM) I spotted it. Unfortunately from 29 rows up the stands I don't hold much power. You could have pretended that the ump was a wall.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) Very, very few people know the balk rules at all, and that is including the seasoned baseball fans. I would bet if you 100 baseball fans to list the ways you can balk, less than 5 would be right. Good point. Still, I would have thought that one of our baserunners or a member of our coaching staff would have caught it. EDIT: Guess I should have read the article considering it says Cora was going nuts.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) It was pretty awful both ways. Not going to blame them for the loss, because they were consistently bad all series. Just a complete dogs*** crew. I'm just trying to figure out how basically no one at the park seemed to catch it. Fathom and I mentioned it right away in the game thread but I thought my eyes might have been deceiving me considering nobody on the Sox argued at all.
  23. At most I'd say Liriano starts two more games this season.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) Rowand and I so called that in the game thread. It was pretty damn obvious, it seemed like everyone in the park missed it though. That one definitely hurts considering it would have tied the game.
  25. I think Natalie is cute as hell, I'm not a fan of Johansson though.
