QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) My question is why is Hawk reading Chciago papers in Detroit. I know he can but I think he would have something better to do it is hard to read this crap unless you really want to. I stopped reading the Times, the Trib is 1000x better. Hawk should do the same. You'd be surprised to know this, but there are a number of people in the Organization that follow closely the Medias dealings with the SOX.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) uh, this team is done. They've been done since the ASB. They didn't go 18-3 during this stretch right now, the season is over. Wait.. whoops. Im jumping back on the bandwagon! is there room? just kidding. I hope this lineup sparks them to greatness, you never know in this game.....

QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) Juan has no chance at all here heh heh heh. The special of the day today is Crow, with a mango dressing ....

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) HAHA!! When your hot, your hot. Jermaine with the oppo duck snort short off the foul line, and a hustle double for Jermaine. Watch how red-hot Jermaine becomes in that 3 hole. When Thome gets back, I want to see him dropped to #5 effective Yesterday

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) I don't think the crappy play has been anyONE's fault, but Konerko has been sucking it up as of late. Yeah, his numbers are on par, but how many double plays has he hit into during key situations in the last 5 games with the twins and tigers? I can think of at least three crucial opportunities he let pass with a crappy slow roller to SS or 2b. Hawk is smoking crack. Crede is our MVP thus far. He hits the most clutch shots to either win us games or get us back into games (see last night). Paulie has been money this year, consistently. I think hes trying to do too much and pick up the slack, which ALWAYS gets him in bad habits. Its Paulie trying too hard, thats all

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 10:27 AM) I'm actually pretty OK with that lineup, since Thome can't play. Glad to see Dye at #3. Ive been screaming to put Dye or Konerko 3rd, and Lo & Behold, Jermaine Goes Yard. YES!!!

17-21 Just proves that any kind of winning would've had us in 1st Place by now .........

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) It would be a devestating blow if we had to put him on the DL. No it wouldnt. Konerko, Dye or Crede would be a much bigger blow. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 10:50 AM) Thome has ONE more HR than Dye. And Dye has almost 20 more hits less k's more RBI's and the 2nd best OBP on the team. Oh and vs LHP his OBP is .438 and he hits .352 against them. This post says it all. Out of all of Dyes hits, how many of them were absolutely CLUTCH? How many times did he make contact or go the other way to get a hit? Thome refuses to do this (he did in April, man is/was he scary) I think our lineup gets a shot in the arm with Thome grabbing some bench for a couple games this way. Put Konerko 3rd, Dye 4th now. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) Do what it takes. Quit sitting around waiting for 2005 to re-appear, because I don't think it's going to. And if that means benching Pods, then so be it. He can be a pinch runner. But I'm SOOO tired of seeing him ground out first pitch or taking strikeouts looking. Thome I'm not too thrilled with of late, but if we make these moves let's see what happens. Thome I havnt been pleased with for a while now (strikeout-wise/pulling-ball wise) Pods, bats 9th now

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) I always cheer for the Central, then the AL. So when the playoffs start, I'm confident there willbe central division teams to cheer for. Too bad we couldn't be leading the wildcard race instead of being so far out of it. Ever since I was a kid, I always was a fan of the AL (the sox werent that great back in the day) first and foremost, esp during the AllStar Game. Then the division the SOX are in I cheer for.

QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) I'm in if we get good starting pitching. Im totally in if we win the division

QUOTE(Tigers Fan @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) I'm a tigers fan.. I came in this forum to hear a general consensus of what u guys think about the sox at this point. Seems like you guys are ready to jump off a cliff, we're reluctant to be confident because we went from awful to record breaking good in 7 months. I really think you guys are shoe in for the wild card. Especially with Liriano out. But 1 run in the last 2 games isn't like the Sox at all though! What happened to the bats? I know Verlander is tough, but if someone told me we'd hold you guys to 1 run in 2 days I woulda laughed my ass off! It's been great, but we're still waiting to wake up from this dream of having the best team in baseball. Everytime we lose a game we brace ourselves for an 8 game slide! Anyways, just wanted to see what's up, and may the best team win.. Your team will go far because of your lights out starting pitching, and that bullpen. Luckily for the Tigers, they started out HOT and DID NOT GIVE AWAY GAMES EARLY IN THE SEASON. That is basically the difference as the SOX are 6 games back currently and I can count on 2 hands a bunch of stupid games we gave away early on that have indeed come back to haunt us, as I had feared.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) It's a good thing you're around. Cuz after Greg Hibbard stormed out angrily and forever, I was devastated that we wouldn't have an owner of Spade Kitty Records who joined on May 2, 2005 around. But luckily, we had 2 to begin with. Now, SOSH prolly has 10 or 11 of those, but hey, we gotta protect our resources more carefully. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????

We shouldve had a POLL. And this shouldve been done a few weeks ago, its much easier to say I'M OUT now (as I did). for the record though, I did say OUT
-
Well, the Red Sox are going down in SPECTACULAR fashion, that much is true. The real SOX are just quietly fading away.......

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) heh heh heh. That made me just laugh right now ....

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) You know, you CAN, in fact, go to the opposite field against him. It's a f***ing joke. Someone needs to CC this memo to: Thome, Jim

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) They looked like corpses last year at times too..... Last year and this year are too hard to compare. We had a 15 game lead last year. This year, were behind.

hahaha, that post can be inserted into about 4 different threads right now. Oh well. Wait til next year.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 08:59 AM) Still in. I'll predict... we continue the up and down the rest of the season, and go on a run the last couple weeks, winning the wild card with about 95-97 wins. Crossing my fingers ...
-
We needed to go 18-3 at one point a couple weeks ago to "get back in it". I came up with that number Assuming that Detroit would continue on its hot pace (you can Never ever assume a team will go on a slump just because "theyre due") 18-3 would have us catching the Tigers by September. For what its worth, the Season will really end for us a week earlier because the Tiggers have a cupcake schedule the last week and a half. The SOX will have to have that wrapped up by then. I basically stopped counting after we lost 4 games barely halfway into that "streak", losing the ground we worked so hard to gain. Now, the SOX have compounded this by losing to the Tigers.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Fathom, I dont know, I never have seen Dick Allen post it and I am not in the business of piggybacking on other peoples arguments. All I can tell If the White Sox dont make the playoffs this year it wont have anything to do with their record. It will just be one of those years where 3 teams in one division would have been atleast 1st or 2nd in the other 2 divisions. during the first weeks of the season, you could tell it was going to be a different year. Every team stepped up in the league. The SOX could ill afford to give as many games away as they did last year, and it has come back to HAUNT them now. Hope they learn the lesson.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) So kids, lets see how things stack up against last year. Are you still believing this team will be post-season, or do you think they are done? No fighting, just a simple "in" or "out", as we did last year. I already said, this team is done. My anger and disappointment were highest at the AllStar Break when we dropped in the standings bigtime, and dug a hole for ourselves, knowing the schedule for us wasn't going to get easier. Theres too much going against the SOX right now, not counting the schedule. High team ERA's, Javy "5 inning" Vazquez, Mark "10 runs a game" Buehrle, are not the kind of guys who help you get on 10 game winning streaks when your down in the standings. When we need to take 2 of 3, we get swept. When we need a sweep, we take 2 of 3. When we need to win the remaining 10 games against the Tigers, we lose 2 games instead. Losses like last nite arent as bothersome to me at this point in the season, Ive accepted our fate. I just hope like heck that we fix the weaknesses .............. this team for the most part is still good. Focus on BUNTING, MOVING RUNNERS OVER, SITUATIONAL HITTING, and most of all ................ MAKING CONTACT. way too many strikeouts from our #1 & #3 hitters

QUOTE(Drew @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 03:06 AM) When Thome was out a few weeks ago, I really thought AJ did well at #3. His slap-hitting added a lot of dynamic to a top of the order that was stagnating. I would really like to see what either he or Dye could do in that slot as a shake-up. 1. Cintron SS 2. Iguchi 2B 3. Dye RF 4. Konerko 1B 5. Thome DH 6. Pierzynski C 7. Mackowiak LF 8. Anderson CF 9. Crede 3B I like this batting order .............. Ive been telling anyone who will listen, that I really dont like Jim Thome, and him in the 3rd hole isnt conducive to rallies. AJ batting 3rd is a great idea, Konerko 4th, Dye 5th, Thome 6th.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Nothin' much to say. Another horrible outing from a starting pitcher. Terrible approach/at-bats against a very talented pitcher. Yeah, what he said. The SOX need to win all 4 games to gain 4 games. The best they can do now is win the rest and only gain 2 games now.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Only two teams in the history of baseball have had the most wins in their league, went wire to wire, and swept the World Series. The 1927 Yankees and the 2005 White Sox. I busted this "fact" out on some cub fans in yankee outfits a couple weeks ago. They insisted the cubs were on this short list a couple times, I told them no sir.
