  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) By the way, nice of the Cubs to screw up the pitching market for everyone else as well. Ive been saying the same thing on a couple of other boards. The Cubs have seeming Lit the Financial Spark and now everything is ridiculously overpriced .......... Theyre throwing him Roger Clemens money. I hope he asks for 6 years and takes them to the cleaners ....
  2. Soxmas Party Update There will now be a Live Band for your musical entertainment ......... along with The World Series Trophy .... and a special Hair-Washing Contest. Hope to have a few more surprises so stay tuned ...... everything starts after 7pm ............... Parking available across the street for a small fee
  3. I hope and pray that 3 years into this deal, the Cubs are forced to eat the rest of his contract. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHA
  4. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 08:01 AM) So you throw a Sox party? Or this is a holiday party? Please explain. Its a Holiday Party thats thrown for SOX fans. So its a bit of BOTH
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) Dugans is a great place to hangout in Greektown. Too bad I have another Christmas party that night, or I would try to make it out there. Hey, no reason you couldnt make BOTH parties!
  6. QUOTE(shipps @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 02:58 AM) I bet if he goes back to the national league he will have a good season next year..................... Ive been saying the same thing. Podsednik going back to the weakling National League will easily add 40 points to his average ........... I love Beck72's trade scenario ........
  7. Hey everyone. Just wanted to invite my fellow Sox Fans to my 4th annual gathering. Its Friday Nite Dec. 15th @ Dugans, 128 S. Halsted, downtown Chicago. Parking available across the street. The 2005 World Series Trophy will be there, and hopefully some surprise guests ..... Oh ..... and PLEASE bring a canned food item, it will be donated to a local Chicago Food Bank
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 01:15 AM) Detroit beating the Yankees frustrates me even more as far as the Sox go. If we had played even .500 baseball the second-half, Detroit wouldn't even be in the playoffs. I have no doubts, even despite all the problems we had, that we could've swept the Yankees. If we just could've f***in' got in. Thats exactly how I felt watching them celebrating. I actually got MAD again ........... if those bozos couldve just turned it up a notch down the stretch, I believe it wouldve been the SOX celebrating instead of the Tigers. It got me thinking .......... was at a party later Saturday and there was a Tiger fan there, I congratulated him, but told him how I couldnt help but thinking that the SOX shouldve been there. The Tigers played some of the most bland and bad baseball since the break, but were only outdone by the SOX and thats why theyre in the playoffs. The Tigers are playing like gangbusters now ....... but I swear, I unfortuneately feel like theres an asterisk next to their season QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 02:41 AM) This may be a case of the Tigers hit their rough spot and are now getting hot at the right time. Just like the '05 Sox. Oakland is a damn good team, though. I'd have to give the nod to the A's, but the Tigers are capable. On the postgame show on the radio, one of the announcers mentioned that the Tigers are reminding him of a certain baseball team..............the 2005 Chicago White Sox, and how they had all the pitching and hitting in place, just a matter of getting to the playoffs
  9. Retire the Hawk-isms? Not a Chance.
  10. Hate to use the word IDIOT here, but Stone would be one if he took any job, in any capacity working for that team. He is much too intelligent to be there, and to accept a job from that losing organization
  11. QUOTE(Random @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) " .....Tonites SOX game is sold-out, 28,000 are here in force"
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) Thome's production fell off a bit after his injuries, of course they did. But he was still one of the best hitters on the team during that period. The only real criticism you can have about thome is that his situational hitting was pretty subpar this year. Bases loaded .143 .250 Second and third .000 .444 Close and late .190 .414 they are VERY small sample sizes, but it seemed that when we needed him most to me, that he wasnt a huge factor. That and with a 3-2 count he almsot always watched the pitch. I think I watched everyone of those at-bats too ............. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) I did, which is why I brought up HOW small they were noting they weren't even discussion. :rolly why did you bother claiming Thome was "subpar" in situational hitting? Those were still at-bats? Those situations were all huge I'm sure, where a hit here or sacfly there might have won us the game. Id love to know exactly which games those were ......hitting 2 run homers, and launching solo blasts are great when were winning 12-0, but give me the clutch homeruns, i'll take them
  13. Man, he looked EXCELLENT last nite. and just yesterday some of us were talking of trading him if the right deal came along (myself included) QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) Is this thread serious? Best starting pitcher BASED OFF OF 1 F'IN START? I think he means in comparison to other starts. McCarthy looked dominant .....
  14. QUOTE(Beltin @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 10:46 AM) I would do it faster than that. By the time you started dialing the Tampa area code, I'd already be Faxing over BMacs contract over, heh heh but seriously, I like the idea of picking up some of Freddys salary and sending him over instead
  15. I see that Jim Thome "totally exceeded" expectations, but why was he considered to basically not be a factor? Because of the injury?
  16. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) Buehrle was done for '06 after the Cubs blow out. That game still makes me mad. Has to be one of the most spectacularly crap-tastic performances in recent memory. And Ozzie left him out there to twist in the wind .......... Game was still winnable.
  17. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) the tigers are backing into the playoffs. why shouldn't they back into the division title too. Because the SOX didn't feel like winning the division this year, despite the numerous attempts by the Tigers to hand their playoff berth over
  18. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) Is Kenny Rogers available or did he sign a long term in Det? Ive been wanting the SOX to sign Rogers for quite some time. He was available in 2003, 2004, and 2005 I believe, and the SOX each time took passes on him. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 11:07 AM) 1) Ozuna- 2B 2) Cintron- SS 3) Gload- 1B 4) Anderson- CF 5) Mackowiak-DH 6) Fields- 3B 7) Sweeney- LF 8) Owens- RF 9) Stewart- C man, that would empty out the Cell quick
  19. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 08:13 AM) We need to evaluate which pitchers do the best against the teams in our division-since we play so many against them. Then keep the 3 most effective AGAINST THE DIVISION. Thats not a bad game-plan. Didnt Kenny use a philosophy like this in the offseason before 05?
  20. QUOTE(beck72 @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 05:38 AM) Because the Drays are apparently looking for a BMac type arm in return. http://www.nypost.com/sports/mets/ex_rayvi...oel_sherman.htm My thinking is yes. Crawford just turned 25 and is locked up for 4 more yrs and IIRC an option for a 5th. The sox need a speed type guy like Carl in their lineup. He'd improve the OF defense, with him in LF and BA in CF. The sox could then hold onto Freddy. Or trade him and insert Haeger [or an arm they get if they trade Fields, which should net them a very solid SP prospect ready to step in or a 1st or 2nd yr pro]. Cooper seems really high on Haeger. The SP should be better with an in shape Buehrle, and a fully rested Jose. The key area is improving the bullpen, which wouldn't affect BMac at all. Hell, look what Minny has done with Santana and four bodies. The bullpen and a versatile lineup. Crawford would singlehandedly change the complexion of the team Thoughts? I'd do that so fast ....................
  21. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) Indeed. They gave us something to root for (unlike Cleveland). Detroit threw the door WIDE OPEN for anyone to come in and the Sox couldn't capitalize. It's tough to swallow that .500 ball since August 1st would've locked up a playoff spot. But there could be a silver lining in all this if the Sox can use this depressing turn of events into the fuel to compete next year. Thats the unbelievable part. Sub .500 the 2nd half. The way they were playing, I said back when, that the SOX wouldnt even make the playoffs
  22. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) I think you're getting your message boards mixed up. I did a search under your name for "million", "attendance" and "prediction" and can't find your prediction or anyone mocking you anywhere... heh heh, are you sure? I remember being ripped for predicting 3 million this year. Shoot, I was called off the wall for saying the SOX staff ERA would not allow them to make the playoffs. Thats what makes the SOX blowing it and not making the playoffs so FRUSTRATING, they really had a chance to take this town to another level
  23. We have something to play for ................... 90 Wins
  24. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) This team had no chemistry. It was a lot easier to cheer for last years team because they were fun to watch. I couldn't say that about this team. We didn't have the 'grinders' anymore. I know losing Rowand was overdocumented, but he truly was a key loss to this teams chemistry. KW needs to go out and find some grinders again to patch up our top and bottom of the orders. This teams pitching really failed. We were supposed to be one of the "best rotations ever" according to ESPNs steve phillips. Well it looked good on paper, BUT not once did our rotation have quality starts 1-5 in sequence until the very end of the year. But by then our bullpen was in shambles. #1 priority: Fix up the bullpen. #2 priority: find a speedy left fielder and a grinder center fielder. (trade bmac and anderson for Crawford to play LF and sign Hunter via free agency. #3 priorty: fix up the bottom of the order. trade Uribe and Broadway for Rollins. The 2007 lineup of my dreams: Crawford LF Iguchi 2B Dye RF Thome DH Konerko 1B Pierzynski C Crede 3B Hunter CF Rollins SS (Lol okay that would be ridiculous!!) I like the Crawford trade idea.
