QUOTE (qwerty @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:30 AM) Whenever i do sleep, as little as i do, i lucid dream on command. It may take someone years to learn their given techniques, while it may take another nothing more than a couple weeks. Some very gifted people can pick it up in as little as a day... but it's so slim and far between that it's not worth getting worried over. Take your time and it will come. Sleep paralysis is ancient, it goes back to the beginning of people. Everyone actually experiences sleep paralysis nightly. The thing is it's to such a small degree, and so foreign, that people don't even have a clue what they are going through. Some of the things you may experience is feeling/seeing the presence of the following, demons, djinn, witches, warlocks, goblins, aliens, trees, ghosts, indescribable creatures, and so on. With everyone of these, they are generally describe as being on ones chest, limiting breathing to the point it feels like you will all but suffocate, or they might be hovering over a person, strangling them. You will likely experience highly intense auditory hallucinations, which will likely be more bothersome than the visuals. If anyone has experienced deliriants (dumb spell check does not even acknowledge the word) you will likely know the type of auditory i'm talking about. Deliriants are a step past hallucinogenics, which i recommend to no one, i mean come on, just look at how terrible the word itself is. There can be an extremely positive side to sleep paralysis, which is not uncommon to reach, but if gone about wrong, it will get ugly fast, and you will be stuck for an extended period of time. You will be defenseless. If a person does not have a history of lucid dreaming, they have zero business attempting sleep paralysis. If anyone has any real interest in the dream world... dreamviews should just about have you covered. Countless tutorials on ways to achieve all sorts of things. I've had sleep paralysis on various occasions. Not in recent years though. It used to occur about once a month when I wasn't sleeping well, almost assuredly undiagnosed insomnia. You don't necessarily see all those creatures. I just remember that it would happen to me often enough that my routine would be to try to get a single finger moving. I would occasionaly hear and see things as although I felt awake, my mind was still dreaming up stuff. It's just a terrifying feeling at first to feel so helpless, wanting to move or speak, trying to open your mouth and yell, possibly to escape some impending danger, but not being able to. Anyways, the movie is really good, but damn, I just knew it could not live up to the immense hype. As far as the twist ending, I was expecting something a little more unexpected like it all being his wife's dream (anyone else keep noticing that pimple on her forehead??) or one of his kids' dreams or in the snow globe of a retarded kid. I dunno, something a little crazier than a spinning top...

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) Saw Jabari Parker and Mike Shaw play yesterday in a game of Simeon vs. De La Salle. Shaw didn't shoot well, but is very athletic, great passer and a big dude. Parker I was amazed has a lot of baby fat on him still, kid is just huge though. Like he is gonna turn that to muscle and be a monster. Also, Simeon is just ridiculous. De La Salle has three front-court starters (Shaw, Foster, Henley) all at 6'7" or bigger and all are high D-1 players, and Simeon road them out of the gym. Where'd you see them play? Jaylon Tate should also be a high-magor kid. I've heard Alvin Ellis will be good too. Both are gonna be sophs (and both Gs). De La Salle is my team and I'm excited as heck to watch them play, particularly with Dre Henley transferring back. I won't take too much stock into games in the summer. Heck, D pretty much blew out simeon at uic last season yet simeon still regrouped and won state. -

STRETCH! STRETCH!

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 11:48 PM) I did? I was trying to say he doesn't really have anything to gain by saying that He probably doesn't say it if he isn't pretty darn sure that it's happening. And he has a reputation already, but don't you think it'll grow to redunkulous proportions by calling the biggest free agency move in NBA history?
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 11:30 PM) I don't really get World Wide Wes's angle on his quotes. What's in it for him? If he's telling the truth, and LeBron and Bosh come to Chicago, then everybody's like "oh, WWW is in the know!" But people already think that so I don't know why he'd risk his reputation. If he's lying then his credibility is completely shot to s***. You kinda answered it yourself...

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ May 18, 2010 -> 07:21 PM) To get a better team that he can grow with in Cleveland. Similar to Kobe and the Bulls. He may like the Bulls alot and be enamored with them, but he wants to win a championship where he currently is at. Antawn Jamison was a good scorer on a crap team. He should almost never be a number two scorer. Mo Williams is a decent player, but he shouldn't be your 2nd best player. They were depending on an aging Shaq and Ilgauskus. Anthony Parker was their starting 2 guard which is almost as bad as the Lakers at one point having Smush Parker as the starting PG. What moves could they possibly make they they wouldn't already be trying to make though??

atrocious game

Almost banked it. Oh well. Would have been nice history...

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) I didn't want to make a new thread, but did you guys hear about Verizon now getting a new version of the iPhone in the summer with massive production in the fall? Supposedly it's a smaller screen(rumor). Finally, the iPhone is on a good carrier. Hooray for VZW. Didn't wanna make a new one either but the Evo 4g for Sprint looks redunkulous...

Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread

My mind is so messed up right now that I blanked out on tyrus thomas I was like who was that asshole on the Bulls these past few years??? What's his name again??? pax traded aldridge for him!! All because he jumped high and had a decent little run at lsu in the Tournament. He wears black and white Hyperdunks! You saw him when he went to the opening of your little brother's school's library!! NBA cares!! Think, Sleepy, think... Sorry, I need sleep... Anyways, only one that really stumped me was '02. Completely forgot gooden was a top 5 pick and 'shvili was the only guy I couldn't even picture, let alone name. Pretty cool when you can picture the player to the point where you remember him getting drafted and watching him play, at times witnessing his transformation into a bust, yet the name escapes you... -

QUOTE (supernuke @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) I've had a bee in my bonnet over that Buehrle character since November. Eh, the yearly retirement talks and going to st. louis don't exactly stick a feather in my cap... -

Torii Hunter: Black Hispanics are "Impostors"
SleepyWhiteSox replied to knightni's topic in The Diamond Club
For all those saying he's right, can you explain what he's right about and how?? I'm confused... 1. I don't perceive MLB as trying to market black Latinos as African-Americans. 2. I'm not following with this conspiracy to shun black South Side ballplayers in favor of Latinos because they're cheaper. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) Anyone ever been to Epic Burger? Yeah, it's alright. I wanted regular heinz yellow mustard but all they have on the table is grey poupon Went to Harold's last night. 1/2 mixed fried hard mild sauce on hit the spot.

Oh yeah... MEN SHOULD NEVER WEAR SKINNY JEANS
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) Jeans are regional. Someone poked fun at Wranglers, but if y'all are down in Texas, a pair of Wranglers, stacked on your boots, is the norm. Some fancy ass designer jean look fine on some city chick, but a real man wouldn't wear 'em. Besides, that's what George Strait wears. Those cowboy/western/rodeo-style Wranglers are tighter than women's jeans... My uncle is into the cowboy look but he's more into 501s with his crocodile boots and belt.
-
Funny thing is...there are people who wear $180 true religion and paper denim who thumb their noses at others who just wear regular Levi's from kohls, jc penney, and sears...BUT then the supposed "real" jean connoiseurs look down on and mock those pre-faded/distressed mall/department store brands since they're into $300 Japanese repro jeans made of Japanese selvedge, wearing them almost daily for a year without washing them. Me, I have a kohls card so I get my Levi's 501s for about $25 when they have the 30% off every month (slickdeals.net is nice), although I'm waiting for them to get some new colors/washes. I like how 501s fit me. Only thing I don't like is how fast they fade. I also found a pair of RRL Japanese selvedge made in the USA jeans for 45 at a marshalls. Only "high-end"-ish jeans I have. So I have about 8 pairs of Levi's 501s, couple of pairs of Polo, couple of j. crews, couple of express, and the RRLs, finding all of them on sale and never having paid more than 40 until the RRL ones. (I work at a community center so I wear jeans daily.)

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) So the wife and I are supposed to be getting out for our first overnight alone since the kids were born on Saturday, so of course the oldest kid has a horrible cough and a 102+ fever. Ugh. poor kid...
