QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) How is Wise a better hitter? He had slightly better numbers in less ABs and ended the regular season in a death spiral. Bill James has them putting up near identical OPSs next season (.742 for Wise and .744 for Brian). I don't see much of a use for an outfielder who plays terrible defense and gives you very little at the plate, Wise has some pop and can run a little but that's all he does well. Hell Wise and Anderson had near identical ISOs last season, .202 for Wise and .204 for Brian so even the power argument holds no water. Projections dont mean much to me. I saw Wise hit better than BA last season, its in the numbers. Regardless, what does BA bring to this team? He is a defensive sub for CF. For CF we have Lilli, Owens, BA, Wise realistically competing. I'm not sure BA can bring enough to the table to make him the starter, so basically its a 3 man fight for the 4th OF'er position. If Lilli doesnt win the starting job, I'm betting 100 percent than he makes the team based on his ability to backup 2B, SS and CF which leaves the starting position the only opening and the only chance for BA to make the team. I dont think the chances of him starting are all that great IMO, but of course he rakes in ST so maybe he will give us false hope once again.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 01:55 PM) Seen the Dark Knight obviously (you're an idiot if you haven't), and I've seen the Wrestler also. I actually didn't think the Wrestler was as good as it's been touted to be, but that's JMO. Slumdog Millionaire is comparable to No Country for Old Men from the last Oscars really. I agree with your assessment there. I actually thought There Will Be Blood was better than No Country IMO.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) Dewayne Wise is incapable of playing a decent centerfield or leftfield for that matter, that's why. There wasn't a large enough difference in their on field play to make up for this fact. Their numbers were almost identical. So, BA should make the team on defense, and Wise shouldnt make it even though he hits better? Because of Lillibridge's defensive abilities across several positions, this pretty much makes BA worthless on this team doesnt it?

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) Are the Bears looking for more a speedy WR in the DeSean Jackson mould or a big possesion receiver (like they thought Moose was going to be)? The short answer, a GOOD one. Hester obviously brings speed, but im not sure they think he's a big play guy. Obviously it makes sense to look for a bigger guy to offset Hester's size. -
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) If Wise makes this team over BA....good god. Why? They both had sporatic at bats last year and Wise outperformed BA. What reason is it that BA should get the nod?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) Translation: It doesn't matter how well you do in this "competition" in the Spring, Brian. You won't make the team either way. Well, the kid rakes in ST every year, then goes to Chicago and sucks ass. It should be taken into consideration when evaluating BA.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 09:50 AM) Says more about the quality of films that came out in 2008. Nothing really stood out, and because Slumdog Millionaire was the low budget film in India that no-one expected to do as good as it's done, that's why it's done so well in all of the awards. Its the Juno effect IMO. Praise for the small movie.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) With Nicks running a 4.49 its very unlikely he will be available at the Bears 2nd round pick. As the draft seems to breaking down most of the Bears needs wont be the BPA at their picks. Robo might fall there, but he had one of the best days for WR's. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) Yeah even if Thad likes zone, you have to play man against Illinois. They have NOBODY that can consistently beat people off the dribble. He really installed it full time when teams were violating Oden by drawing him out and going right around him. He then installed the 2-3 then the match zone. He doesnt seem to understand that teams like ILL, NW, Iowa, Wisco love to get open shots from the perimeter which cancels out any effectiveness of the zone. Its really frustrating. -
And it goes on...Seriously WTF.

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) unbelievable, if Illini lose a huge part is going to be by a nobody named Hill. Pff there was no chance they were going to lose that game. Matta goes to man defense at the 2 min mark, and WOW defensive stops, crazy! Hope you enjoyed getting outcoached on your home floor Thad. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) You'd think after about 8 open flashes by Davis that Thad would change up some strategy, at least to confuse the illinois players a bit. I think he went man for all of 2 seconds in the first half. Pretty typical Illinois game here. Getting whatever they want on offense and playing good defense. They're just hitting shots today. Its happened against alot of team like NW, Iowa etc that shoot alot of 3's and it kills OSU. Matta went to the zone primarily when Oden was there because he was worthless outside of the paint. Now he needs to realize that they can man up any team they face because of their athleticism. He literally has lost them several games because of his stubborness to come out of that zone. Today wont be much different. -

Thad Matta has really made himself into one of the worst in game coaches in the Big Ten. He needs to realize when his matchup zone is a bad strategy against a certain team. I think he still thinks Greg Oden is anchored under the basket. -
Jesus Rex, my stomach is growling right now.

How is this 8 pages? Who cares. He'll face us a few times this season before his back acts up on that turf and he will be with another team after that.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Feb 21, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) 4-1-0 in the last 5, and hopefully it continues to improve. Now 34-15-8 on the year, and the boring Wild come to town tomorrow after a home beatdown vs Detroit. Hopefully, it's another win. They are getting hotter as they start a homestand which is perfect timing for a run up the standings. -
QUOTE (The Critic @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) If he doesn't block the first day of Sox sales, because it's at a workplace where they shouldn't be buying tickets online during work hours anyway, then it's a dick move. I'm sure the 15 or so people opening up one window on ticketmaster really bogged down the system. On the other hand, Cubs tickets are sold through a virtual waiting room which allows you to open up multiple windows per user with alot more people doing the work. As they bog down the web server and crap out the entire network and business suffers, Im sure the business case for selectively shutting them down grows by the min.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 10:58 PM) I assume you smoke weed based on everything I see and hear from you . Have you admitted that you do to your parents? Have to told your younger siblings ? Your grandparents? Your employer ? Have they ever asked you and you said no ? I don''t expect you to answer these questions . They're just designed to draw a parallel on life situations where we feel a need to lie . Dont have any grandparents or younger siblings. Plus I'm an adult so I dont need to tell my parents everything I do, but I also dont lie if asked the question. Its not exactly something that I think is wrong, at all. My usage is mostly medicinal. And the reason I reacted about A-rod the way I did is because I felt like he was assuming everyone in the world is stupid enough to believe his ridiculous story. I've been to the DR, I know whats in their pharmacias. I know what routine people who juice are on and I know the almost OCD nature that those users administer their drugs. It was a bold face lie, and everyone who watched it should feel appalled that he thought you were stupid enough to believe it. -
QUOTE (The Critic @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 06:35 AM) Ehh, Cubs fans or not, that's a dick move and I disapprove. If the roles were reversed this place would have a collective aneurysm about it. Its at his workplace where they shouldnt be buying tickets online during work hours anyway. So, no, not really. And its SSI that does that and its awesome.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) I think the bullpen will struggle with not having Marmol available to get out of those huge jams in the 7th/8th innings, Gregg cant strike people out the way he does. I also dont know if Marmol can hold up all year with all hes pitched last year and this winter/spring. That could cause them problems in the playoffs, but they have way too much talent for anybody to get even 8 games close to them in that division. Part of the reason they had all those lucky comeback wins last year was cause they were playing such horrible teams and horrible bullpens. Anybody see Lou trying to mention Ronnie WooWoo...Hilarious, This town definitely has the two best managers to interview..... http://www.nbcchicago.com/sports/baseball/...a-Cubs-Hat.html I prefer "dirty homeless crack addict" to Ronnie Wahoo

Thome Felt Worn Down Near the End of Last Season, Feels Good Now
RockRaines replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 07:19 AM) Good OBP or not, I'd rather not have a player who can no longer play a position on the field wasting a spot on the 25-man roster as DH. Thome's nothing more than a glorified pinch-hitter, if you think about it. I thought about it, and it turns out you are wrong. Since he comes up to bat the same amount of times per game as every player in the field he couldnt possibly be called a pinch hitter. He is a DESIGNATED hitter which means his bat is what he contributes and a good power one at that. -
Ok, so Jack's dad was in a coffin when he got to the island and obviously now is an important go between or is Jacob himself. When Locke reaches the island in a casket, dead, does he also enjoy the elevated status?
