The worry I have with this kid is that he rakes in ST, rakes in April then canot adjust to what pitchers do to him to get him out and we have to send him down to get work and totally ruin his confidence.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 11:07 PM) I think overall, he's absolutely accurate. IMO it starts with joints, then pipes/pieces, then bongs, then the hardcore s*** like vaporizers. Ah the good ol volcano. -
Got 4 Cubs/Sox sat this morning on the presale, first time in years ive been able to get through

I see a few posts talking about how Crede WAS as a player, I dont think anyone is arguing that, its that NOW he isnt up to that standard, as a hitter nor in the field.

QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) Manny is probably a juicer. I was watching a special in 2006 called "Flamethrowers" in which they showed every No-Hitter/Perfect Game since 1980.I was watching Jim Abbott's No-Hitter,and it was Manny's rookie year. One of the things that stood out to me is the Sosa-like transformation of Manny's body. He was about as skinny or skinnier than Sosa was on the Sox. Yes, skinny to fat is proof positive of juicing.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) The problem the big ten (and the officials that work the games) is that it wants to continue to maintain its uniqueness as the bruising 40 minute defense style of play versus the run and gun style other major conferences play. It's how to call those games. You either let the players play, or you call every little ticky tacky foul. I think most big ten fans don't care how you call it, so long as you stay consistent - i.e., a physical bump on a driving player isn't a foul with 15:00 minutes to go in the 1st half and it isn't a foul with :30 seconds to go in the game. Or as Weber pointed out last time they played Purdue, Kramer fouls 5-6 times ever possession and its considered "tough D." But another player who gets just the slightest of bumps driving to the hoop will get the foul. There's something wrong there. (and btw, i like how kramer plays. i don't consider his physicality "fouling" but i do have an issue with him being able to body up so much 30 feet from the basket but the big guys down low can't do that) For whatever reason, the last 2-3 years have been especially bad in this area. I'm ok with calling the game differently from game to game, but when it starts changing in the middle of the game you ruin the sport. It's like home plate umps in baseball. No ones strike zone is the exact same. All you ask if that they stay consistent and call pitches the same for each team for the entirety of the game. It gets them into trouble in the tourney because depending on the crew, their physical defensive style goes without calls, or every player gets into foul trouble. There really isnt a middle ground at that point and sometimes it bites them in the ass. ON the flip side I think one reason Big Ten teams "surprise" people and get so far in the tourney some years is that other conferences arent used to the defensive nature of B10 teams and it defeats them. -

QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 10:17 AM) Rebounding is normally a problem (although this year is far better than previous years in that regard), but we outrebounded OSU by 7 yesterday. It wasn't a problem against them at all. The real problem was unforced turnovers, especially by our guards. Al Nolen had an uncharacteristically bad game and when he's struggling its very hard for our offense to get going. I would say the real problem was that they arent very good away from their home court. That and the duo of Evan Turner and William Buford. -
QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) I still say I-Rod, Piazza, and A-Rod all get into the HOF. I think the fact they they roids and were complete scumbags and all about it Bonds/Clemens and the fact he was a giant tool liar(Mcguire) were the main reasons not making it into the hall. I dont think anyone who has tested postive for anabolic steroids will ever get voted into the hall. The guys in there are very protective of their group and it would be very hard to get in when its proven you cheated.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) I believe in loyalty is all and I don't waste my energy on bashing Sox players present-past or soon to be past How is being realistic considered bashing? Crede is not All-Star or GG caliber (anymore for GG). Joe Crede's career numbers are .257 .306 .447. He has under an .800 OPS. Im not sure how you could possibly think he is an All Star. His BEST year was .283 .323 .506. This was now 3 seasons ago. Lets see if his numbers prove that you are correct and he should be considered All Star caliber, and I dont consider him even being on the team in 2008 a good choice. 2008 All Star 3B A-rod: .302 .392 .573 Guillen: .286 .376 .436 Longoria: .272 .343 .531 2007 A-rod: .314 .422 .645 Lowell: .324 .378 .501 Joe Crede 2008:.248 .314 .460 2007: .216 .258 .317 2005: .252 .303 .454 I like Joe Crede as much as anyone and appreciate what he did for the White Sox, but thinking that somehow he is a star is not realistic. And there is nothing disloyal about knowing the actual facts.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) No harm, no foul... Tennessee had already said we weren't going to report it, but just that it was a sleazy thing to do. I do love Kiffin's confidence though. Even if he was wrong about the rule, he was essentially saying "you did everything you could to keep this kid and we pulled him from you with one weekend visit." Imagine what we'll do now that the staff will have an entire year to build relationships with these kids, their parents/coaches, etc. Top 5 class next year. Book it. Meyer is a crooked SOB anyway, f*** him. I'd love to see the Vols take it to him this upcoming season. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) Owning a house is definitely nice come tax season (i guess, having a mortgage is what helps the most) especially nice to receive a huge refund check at the same time that 1st installment property taxes are due... Oh yeah. Just lost a point on refinancing as well!!! I love the prop tax bill day.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 09:41 PM) He had me at hello. This is the first time the bulls have had a winning record (or guaranteed one even if they lose the next couple games) on a circus road trip since 97-98. Derrick Rose's team will probably break alot of these streaks/records for years to come. Hilarious call on TT last night. He missed a dunk, went back up and dunked it again and the refs called him for taking the ball out of the cylinder. I've never seen a call like that. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) He had cash on his kitchen table clipped to the bills. The most probably answer is dementia. I doubt he was just trying to cheat the system. I've seen it and it sucks, I've seen Alzheimer's in action first hand almost out of nowhere. Age is a b****. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) http://www.mlive.com/news/bay-city/index.s...was_preven.html Finally an answer, so the guy couldnt hear and MAY have had some dementia. Still wondering why people said he went grocery shopping and whatnot, but at least now there is an answer why he may have not known about his bill. Once again bringing up the problem of the lack of case workers for this type of situation at this power company. -

QUOTE (Texsox @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) Not asking you to. Just asking that we find a system that offers some protection from people dying. There are tens of thousands of able bodied people on public aid. This guy worked all his life, served his country, I would feel a hell of a lot better helping him than some of the other able bodied college students who receive government aid in the form of student financial aid. And several of the news stories have mentioned dementia. It seems reasonable for someone to show the homeowner the device and how to reset it if it trips. But we live in a society that if he had a dog and left it to freeze, he could have been prosecuted. But leave an old man to freeze, and that's ok. Seems like the wrong values to me. buuuuuut, the guy didnt need public aid, he had plenty of money. Once again bringing up the question, why didnt he pay his power bill when he clearly was purchasing other goods and services? -
QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) After watching the episode again, i see hints that the nose bleeds could be happening to people who originate from the island or have been there over a longer period of time. Watch the exchange between Miles and Faraday when Miles tells him of the nosebleed, if you can. what about the folks from the freighter that got the same thing? I think the people who have been there the least are getting the nosebleeds. Juliet and Daniel are the two with the most island time and both do not have the issue.
