  1. Whoa, how did I not see that ""youtube sensation" Sam McGuffie left UM? http://mgoblog.com/content/sam-mcguffie-others-leaving-team Any inside story from someone?
  2. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:18 AM) Have these scouts seen Brett Wallace lately? They call him the Walrus for a reason. If they have, it was probably while watching our two young spects outhit him.
  3. QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:20 AM) I don't get this at all. Why would KW trade Dye, who is still very productive, for a pitcher that has only had an ERA below 5 once in his career and only a 1.36 K:BB ratio? Last year was the best season of his career by far, and he still only had a 4.42 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 1.40 K:BB. He is at best an average starter (much closer to being a below average pitcher) and definitely shouldn't be the main focus of a Jermaine Dye deal. because, frankly we have been lucky with JD, especially with injuries. This is a good time to sell high.
  4. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 11:31 AM) What the hell do you guys do to your laptop? In my experience and in the experience of my friends, a good 5 or 6 that I talk to on a regular basis who have one, they have never ever had problems. As far as Dell, that is by far the worst. Problems left and right, call up their customer service and you either get put on hold or talk to a guy in India. One of my best friends had a Dell, and he took care of his laptop quite nicely. Then over the course of 4 years, his hard drive failed him 3 times. 2 other times, his fan completely stopped working. Now the guy always always makes sure his computer is well-ventilated, and only used it for writing papers and occasional game playing (Roller Coaster Tycoon mostly). Dell flat out sucks. As far as Vaio's, I have a VAIO laptop and desktop computer. The desktop is about 5 years old, but still kicking strong. The laptop I got about 2 or 3 years ago. It's pretty nice, huge screen and everything. Never had any problems. The only pet peeve you may have is the battery life. Mine sucks donkey balls. I usually only get 20 or 30 minutes, even after turning the volume all the way down, dimming the screen to it's dimmest setting, and not watching any movies or listening to music or playing any games. Here is the thing about computers. Most of the companies use the same brand components. Dell uses other company's equipment and rebrands it as Dell, alot of other companies do that too. so essentially if you have a Dell laptop break and a Sony laptop break, chances are it is probably the same actual brand of harddrive or whatever that failed. Just stick with a good company with good service an you will be ok. Most really great workhorse laptops were IBM's for the last several years, although now they are Lenovo's so the jury is still out. I have one for work and its been ok. Computers are basically designed to break, the question is, wht vendor gives you the best chance to fix it.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) I still think Poreda is destined for the closers role. He still doesn't have a third pitch. I feel the same way, that is of course unless he learns a nasty change, then he's a starter.
  6. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 10:52 AM) We'd still be down a RH power bat in the middle of our order unless we think Viciedo is Miggy Cabrera II or Paul Konerko will suddenly be something he hasn't been in 2 years. Well, it will be one of Josh Fields or Viciedo.
  7. So, get an arm, drop payroll, trade Javy for hopefully a lead off man, call it an offseason.
  8. I gave WT enough love at this point. can I have my tagline read : One toke over the line
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) Howell and Balfour are candidates to regress. They're not comfortable with Wheeler as their closer, and Price is moving back to the rotation. One would think that Poreda, Jenks or Thornton (maybe Dotel or Linebrink, although expensive for TB) would be their three main bullpen targets. I don't think to move a Carl Crawford they're going to settle on Lance Broadways, Adam Russells or Ehren Wassermans. You could do a JD+Dotel package, but as you said, thats expensive and also risky. Their minor league system is stocked with talent, especially pitching talent, so that is where their strength is for trading.
  10. We need to factor in other needs that the Rays may have. Maybe some more pen help? Even though they were good this year, lets face it, some of those guys played out of their minds.
  11. If JD bring us some flexibility to go and sign someone on the FA market, thats even better.
  12. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 10:34 AM) They really need to get rid of Craig Adams for an enforcer then. That was a HORRIBLE move by Tallon acquiring C. Adams last season, when he's nothing more than a 4th liner at best, and he had 1 extra year on his deal. Yup, he is basically wasting space. It would be nice if we had some internal options, but I would really like a bigger defenseman to come in and contribute. I am also under the opinion that getting rid of Sopel is addition by subtraction.
  13. I see an arm as one of the main targets for KW, you wont see any of the marquee names on the Rays coming in for JD, it just wont happen.
  14. When Buff leaves, the toughness on this team takes a s***.
  15. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 12:35 AM) Big 12 is a beast Ridic. The firepower in that conference this season is off the charts.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 21, 2008 -> 07:53 AM) Fields needs to fix the hitch in his swing which causes him to be slow on fastballs. Hawk and Ed Farmer both mentioned it last year, so hopefully Walker does as well and can fix it, right? Yeah. I'm not holding my breath, either. His hitch is about 90 percent of his problem. He loads up his bat WAAAAAAYYYYYY too long. If he learned to cut it down even a little, he would make much more contact with about the same power.
  17. It hilarious how ignorant some people are about baseball though. On the radio people were lauding KW's deal for DV saying that it was too much money for a player that wasnt proven in a league that is not up to par. Uh, you mean you would put our American High School baseball a level above Cuban leauge? Because we are essentually signing a player right out of highschool, yet he has been playing pro ball for 4 years longer than those HS'ers.
  18. I could see Aybar and an arm. I think KW likes Jackson a lot.
  19. Man!!! Im so pissed I missed an awesome fight between a professional wrestler and a guy who should have retired 5 years ago. Dammit!!!
  20. QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 10:54 PM) It's nothing. He's quite possibly one of the best if not the best player in the AFL. Those guys have "summer camp syndrome" where you find flaws in everything because you have been looking at it too long.
  21. QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 06:07 PM) John Danks ahead of guys like Hamels and Zambrano? No brainer on Zambrano, not sure on Hamels. A 4 ERA in probably the worst or the second worst division in baseball isnt very impressive to me. Danks had a lower ERA in the AL with more K's and less BB.
  22. Tucson blows compared to Peoria. Im happy that they will be near Phoenix, because Tucson was just too far away from anything of interest.
  23. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) It was in the student union in the middle of the day. Thats just strange. Awful games on today, at least a few of them gave us decent finishes.
