Seems like we are trying to clear money for something.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 03:32 PM) I disagree with you. Danks has better defensive tools, whether your talking about CF or the Corner outfield spots. To be honest, I havent seen enough of either of them to formulate an educated opinion, I'm going mostly on what I've read. It would be super sweet if Danks would be our CF'er with plus defensively ability.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Heh. I was too impatient and bought it earlier this week. Im thinking ill do the same. I really want the games and blu-ray on my new TV

Remember, on paper it looked like he lost both the BMAC deal and the Freddy deal.

little trouble with the Redhawks UCLA? Just like last season. -
QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 01:19 PM) On the other hand... there are alot of supposedly very good hitters in the AFL who were drafted ahead of Danks, or have AA and AAA experience, who are not hitting nearly as well as he is. So... we can revert to the small sample size argument... but just saying he should be hitting this well (.341 BA/.417 OBP) because he's in a hitters league really isn't true. My thoughts exactly. There are many draft picks that were considered more ready hitter than arent producting quite like Danksy is. For example, Brett Wallace will probably always outslug Danks, but Jordan is out hitting him in OBP and BA and is striking out less. Wanna see something else great though, check out GBeck's splits. 1.027 OPS vs LHP 1.194 OPS vs RHP. He's also hitting .563 with RISP

FYI - GBeck has a blog about playing in the AFL

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) I think when the dust settles on the 2008 draft, it will be Gordon Beckham and a bunch of minor league filler. I'm not sold on Danks although he has hit ever since he signed. Picking KW's son as high as they did shows there still is a problem with the system. Theres a couple of arms that may make an impact though.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) If the White Sox had a 20 year old who put up the numbers he did in AA in 2007 he would be incredibly hyped. Just reading this board, one would probably be shocked if Poreda isn't a HOFer. Rasmus was hurt a lot in 2008, but this guy is quite a player. I don't think STL has had any thought of trading him, but if Dye and Javy get the job done, it may be worth it to get him and sign some free agents. I would trade both of them for him and a pen prospect to be quite honest. He would be a perfect fit for us considering I think Danks will be a corner guy when he comes up and Rasmus is a plus fielder with a plus plus arm in CF.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 11:51 AM) Pats is better but if you want to be a big you can just get one of each as they are diagnoally across the street from each other. For those of us not in the "know" what makes one better than the other? For example, many of us chicago folks know whic pizza joint is the best, I assume Philly is the same with its cheesesteaks.
-
Whoa. I just read a rumor that St Louis was interested in Dye and Javy and have been dangling Colby Rasmus. He would be a perfect fit for us. He's a CF'er, lead off hitter, has speed.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) My wife's done with Heros. She says the story line is all over the place now. it all comes back together in the next episode and the eclipse. I think its been fantastic and I look forward to seeing how the heroes get their powers back and how they take up sides.

Actually a nice new Tumi computer bag. Pretty damn geeky, but when you entire work life is spent carrying around a laptop and other materials, its VERY important.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) I was bothered by it. You didn't see Paul Konerko do that. You also saw how BA turned his attitude around, etc. I liked Swisher too, but I agree he wasn't the fit we thought we were getting. Building the winning team is what it is all about Ha!!! Konerko is by far one of the biggest pouters in recent history.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) 2010's too early though IMHO. Danks will need to develop power, or have very good BA/OBP skills if he wants to become a starting OF in the majors. We have a small sample size for him already. He had 10 games in Kanny and raked, he went to the AFL and raked, and if he ends up in AA this year and rakes then he could very well be in the running for 2010.
-
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 08:54 AM) Can I ask why everyone thinks Jordan Danks will be ready for a starting job in 2010? Because he has the talent, is already our #3 prospect, and is RAKING in the AFL.

Honel and Malone were such huge dissapointments.

The Bucks are going to surprise some teams this year. Mullens looks 10 times better than Koufos at this point last season. Evan Turner looks damn good. -
QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 05:25 PM) I have to LMAO at this...Betemit and a couple throw-ins. Actually, Marquez was the key to the deal.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) Yeah, I agree. I don't really think he's trying for 2009 all that much. He's basically rebuilding(retooling as he says) for 2010, so he won't have to keep getting rid of players like he has been since he took over. I mean, maybe things would be better if our players were able to gain familiarity with one another. Regardless, I think instead of modeling after the Braves, he's slightly adjusting his philosophy to model the Sox after Tampa Bay. Rebuild that farm system, and have young players everywhere who are good. To be honest, this team should be planned around when talent like Danks, Beckham and Allen or Shelby reach the majors.
