  1. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 10:08 AM) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/foot...n.ap/index.html would be interesting. No names of schools, I'm sure they would make a run at Notre Dame again, but with their NBC contract, I doubt that is realstic... any speculation? I'll throw Louisville and Miam Ohio out there as just off-the-wall total guesses We (Miami) can barely survive the MAC
  2. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) up up down down left left right right A B start was the code for so many games... that and some were tricky and had you hit select before start. contra you had too, had to hit it twice for two player mode. Unless you had game genie.......
  3. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) Base Wars....That game was so sweet. still have it for reg nintendo. I still play power pad track meet too.
  4. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) Just what is that? It's certainly not the Konami code. Contra code for two players.
  5. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 04:57 PM) Well, last night I accidentally broke my only bottle of cologne, Acqua Di Gio, and now I need to buy a new one. I rarely wear cologne, only if I need to get dressed up or occasionally on weekends. I normally stick with what I know but I figured I would branch out and ask some other people what some good colognes were. Maybe even some good unknowns that people have never heard of. Any advice would be great. It was about time you left 2001. I use Ralph Lauren Purple label or Kenneth Cole black. RL is expensive but really good.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) The Tigers lost 3 of 5. they are lucky it wasnt 4 out of 5 frankly
  7. up up down down left right left right baba select select start
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 04:16 PM) And while Podsednik doesn't give much phsyically right now, there may well be few better teachers of stolen base technique available these days. He became such a good base stealer not because he was the fastest player in the big leagues, but because he had the technique down pat. So that is one potential benefit of having those 2 on the same team for the next month or two (can we bring Pods back next year as our 1st base coach?). PODS even did that with probably the worst first step of any prolific base stealer in our lifetime. He wasted a step, yet had such a good read and step count that he made up for it.
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) They did all but give him a bj to try to keep him here... Yes, but that hummer was why he went to LA.
  10. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) i think his upside is juan pierre right now, not juan pierre of 2003....i also dont think hell be quite the base stealer pierre was/is I actually think he could be a better base stealer, right now his only weakness is his jump and read, something you gain with major league experience. Seeing him take a bag off of I-roid was pretty impressive.
  11. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) fields really needs to work on the K's. He is already over half way to 100. He has a good eye, but he pushes his luck a lot by looking at good pitches. I would like to see him a bit more aggressive up there. And he really needs to learn how to hit the fastball above 90 mph. Fields splits: June: .218 .274 .333 SLG 32k 6bb 78AB July: .275 .348 .513 SLG 22k 9bb 80AB I see a trend. And its decreasing k's slightly increasing walks, and obviously more contact.
  12. QUOTE(OilCan @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) Meh - Once Jose is dealt, give Gavin a chance for the 5th spot in the rotation. If he continues to blow up, get someone else at the end of the season, or check to see if Lance, Gio or Eggy is ready (which IMO they are not ready yet). Best case scenario is that either Gio or Eggy are ready for the show next year. Lance looks like a pen guy to me.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) He did win the CY Young, but he's always had issues. He always seemed to be trying to stretch out a problem with his arm even when he was on the White Sox. I've always liked him. I hope the elbow problem isn't serious though. I always thought if he was available for cheap, KW might go after him again, but I think with this latest issue, he would and should pass. One of his biggest upsides as a pitcher was his ability to eat up innings and be an all around horse. Now that he has lost that, he has also lost alot of his value. It should also speak volumes of the move by the sox of not signing him long term. Since he has been on LAAAA he has amassed ERAS of 5.01 3.48 5.11 and 6.72, only pitching 200 innings 2 out of 4 years. He may have peaked in 2002-2003.
  14. ESPN reports Salty is on the block for pitching. This needs to be something KW looks at seriously. With AJ getting older and no catching spects in the minors to speak of, this could be our way of getting a franchise catcher.
  15. Owens in July: .293 .341 8 sb 1 2b. Basically 9 doubles. 5bb 11k not really that bad. If he keeps developing at this rate, he could actually be a leadoff hitter. That and his defense in CF has surprised the s*** out of me.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) In other words, give him a little bit of time to adapt to the league to the point where he's better at not throwing that cookie, and he could be really tough. possibly, or he could be a bullpen guy. He has the makings of Jason Grilli.
  17. Here's my impression of Floyd: He makes usually 2-3 good pitches per at bat. He then throws an absolute cookie over the plate. If the hitter is patient enough he gets a good pitch to hit. If they arent patient, Gavin strikes them out.
  18. Gavin should make people appreciate John Danks that much more.
  19. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) One game and seven homers most certainly doesn't mean that Fields replaces Crede. Joe Crede is a superior defensive thirdbaseman and a 30 homers player. Fields is doing a good job, but rebuilding this team for '08 doesn't mean getting rid of Joe Crede. Crede should be at 3B and also signed to a 3 or 4 year extension. Fields should be moved to LF and play 3B as needed. So you are telling me that you would rather take the risk of a player with back problems, throw a bunch of money at the injury prone player and move a younger, cheaper, better offensive weapon to a corner OF position just because the injury prone player is a little better with the glove right now? That makes ZERO sense to me. This team has alot of money tied up in a small number of players, Josh at 3B is part of the plan moving forward, and he has already proven that he can handle it defensively and offensively.
  20. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) seems like that 7th homer today probably sealed the deal on confirming him as a certain successor to Crede during next season Crede's ceiling seems to be one fluke .280 year - but he's essentially a .255-.260 hitter with about 25 homers per season seems like Fields could give us that easily, maybe more I know Joe's defense seems godlike sometimes but isn't there a chance Fields develops into that sort of player defensively too? Josh's defense has actually been a pleasant surprise as I think there is only a small drop off from Crede. Also Josh appears to have more power to all fields and seems to be developing at a faster rate.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) Fields has really pounded the ball the last few days. His average is up to .255 now with a .759 ops on the year. Pretty damn solid for a rook, even with all the k's. Keep it up, Josh. he'll come around. Like I said before, there is almost zero reason other than trade value to want to take Josh away from 3B. Also, isnt Magg's batting stance strange? He is usually open, now hes almost Andre Dawson closed.
  22. wow thanks for the boob pics tony.
  23. wow your overpost successfully deterred me from wanting to respond. We wont agree on this, ever.
