  1. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 09:15 AM) Nice acquisition, wasnt it, Williams? actually yes, because although gavin has been terrible, him and Gio have pitched more innings this year than Freddy, and he was a rental player. So really, it was a GREAT deal for KW and for the Sox.
  2. frankly he should be shut down and let gavin ruin his rep. s***, I would rather see Eggy given a damn chance at this point.
  3. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 05:12 PM) Gonzalez and Erstad not being in the lineup are the first surprises of the day for me. where would gonzo play? Richar is going to be the starter.
  4. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:42 PM) Does anyone know what happened to Mackowiak in two years that his value declined from a lefthanded reliever with previous seasons of domination to a high A, 23 year old reliever? It sure wasn't due to poor performance. please find me someone who didnt want to get rid of marte. He was basically worthless that offseason and we ALL felt like KW had ripped them off largely.
  5. well, players that are playing for the sox for a discount. Konerko, Javy, buehrle, Garland.....who else?
  6. this thread got retarded in a hurry.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:21 PM) You are forgetting the cherry on the turd sundae. The only thing left to f*** up, is to play Pods and Erstad over the kids, and to platoon Richar with Gonzales. I expect Pods to be leading off tonight, with Erstad batting 2nd. They have said Richar is the starter, so im not sure where that info came from.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) Come on, there's a huge difference between Link and Dubee compared to WMP. Yes, they werent offered up for a player that was basically a league MVP last season, and a WS MVP the season before that. KW couldnt get value so he didnt. In fact signing Dye to an extension would be a move that is even better value, and helps the ballclub. Im glad we didnt give away Dye for nothing.
  9. Wow. I hope that someone sees the irony of people b****ing about the return for Mack and Gooch, yet being angry about not giving up Dye for two pieces of crap.
  10. we are obviously trying to cut salary for the FA period next season. Lets keep unloading salary. There is no reason the the LAAAA angels shoudlnt be calling about Dye as their DH.
  11. QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) Offman on the Score says no deal for Dye and probably no contract extension, either. About half an hour to go before the deadline. With his performance and the lack of a market during the trade deadline, it is a prime time to extend Dye for much less than his market value, and tons less than his value at the beginning of the season.
  12. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) Cubs are after Dye now... was the rumor Pie and Marmol?
  13. the hilariousness on this site is pure comedy. First people get mad if we arent asking for enough for our players, then they get made because we are asking for too much and not pulling the trigger. We ask for minor leagues talent, then get mad when no big leaguers are included in deals.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:25 PM) Horray.. Meet your 2008 Last Place Chicago White Sox.. Wow. I guess nothing can be done before next season...........
  15. figures. Mack was probably the best producing OF'er
  16. nothing is going to happen, but I love seeing people get mad about rumors with no truth to it
  17. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) Tad Iguchi was still worth more than a class A pitcher. The Phillies got a real good 2Bman with some power and ability to drive in some clutch runs. I am not impressed with whatever decision went into this move. There isn't much in the last year that has panned out for the Sox as far as trades and other signings are concerned and I think the Iguchi trade is just another example of real questionable player decisions. No he wast. He is a two month rental player with no compensation when he leaves, on top of that you have to pay him a million bucks. He wasnt worth more than a massage table, and frankly we were lucky to get an actual player out of the deal.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 05:27 PM) http://www.google.com/maps?q=W+Lake+St+%26...p;z=18&om=1 N wacker, not ew wacker most likely. Wacker turns and runs north and south and intersects with lake st.
  19. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) MacDougal, Boonito, Aardsma; whichever combination works. Wow, we have a young affordable closer who is leading the AL in saves on one of the worst teams. That is something you dont trade, bar none.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) Bobby Jenks could probably bring in a package of players similar (probably a bit less) to what Teix got the Rangers. I'd move him in a second if a team were offering up a deal like that. And then who would close out games?
  21. Funny, no pine tar means he needs more torque from his arm on his pitches, and he gets hurt.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) Great move for Texas. Getting Salty is a f***ing score and a half, huge huge move for them. while improving upon a position of weakness, and a position where its crucial to have a good player.
  23. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 02:31 PM) im not comparing him to Pods, I didnt say he would be our best OFer going into next year. His defense definitely has to factor into the equation, if he is giving up runs by being that bad I see a problem. I think KW could do better than putting WMP in the OF next year Hes no worse than Carlos Lee in the defensive department I dont like WMP. With that said this guy could easily become an all star OF'er. He was signed too young, thrown into the fire too early and was not given the at bats or time to develop in the minors like he should have. Because of this alot of his abilities have not yet developed. He needs at bats, good coaching, and someone to watch over him and teach him. If we have the spot in LF, which we do, it would be worth giving up a sandwich pick to see if we can help this kid break out into what type of a player he should be. Dye, with a ton of luck, will be a good player for prob 2-4 years. I think that moving his salary can free up some other spots we need, and WMP has the tools to replace the production as well as give us a nice power bat. This isnt that bad of a trade idea.
  24. QUOTE(joeynach @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) Why the hell would we want Willy Mo Pena unless hes going to be a 4th OF. We are in the middle of change away from the lethargic poor defense playing OF (or player) anyway so why would we want Pena. His defense is terrible and hes slow doesn't sounds like a grinder nor the type ozzie would want. I think Eric Byrnes when I think outfielders the sox and ozzie want to see on their team, not Willy Mo Pena. I think we flip Willy-Mo to someone else in the AL, which Boston probably didnt like.
  25. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 05:37 AM) most people think this is the end of LaRussa in St. Louis. JR knows the biggest mistake he made was listening to hawk and firing Tony in 1986. doubt it will happen, but I can understand why it is a rumor. Most people? Didnt he just win a WS title last year?
