  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) He has a lot of saves, but he hasn't been as dominating. His second half of 2006 wasn't very good. I hope we aren't seeing the beginning of a rerun. He never would have become the folk hero he became if he was throwing 93 in 2005. hasnt been as dominating? Are you blaming that purely on his velocity, or his actual statistics and performance?
  2. closers blow games guys, thats why Gagne's streak was so great. Its going to happen, easy on the quick fire everyone trigger.
  3. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 09:57 PM) Bukvich and Jenks turn it into a clusterf*** (BTW, I've not been a Jenks fan since he pretty much lost his velocity and effectiveness. The fact he's now an "All-Star" actually makes me chuckle a bit). totally especially since hes been one of the best closers in the league this season. But yeah, good point
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 09:45 PM) Is that the article on chicagosports right now? ESPN.com
  5. According to KW, they are going to sign him, thats the most recent report. I think they announce Mark is signed tomorrow.
  6. why didnt you just post this is a trade rumor I heard on a message board.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) Well, unlike the rest of the Soxtalk crew, I'm not going to bash or make fun of a guy that's had a lot of bad luck in the injury department. It's unfortunate. I'm sure he won't be back next season. Bad luck is a broken leg because of a foul ball, or a hit by a pitch. Scott has strained every muscle than we use on a day to day basis. He is made of glass.
  8. Seriously. Have Terrero and A-gon already taken more walks than Erstad did?
  9. A-gon and Terrero both get on base with more regularity than Owens. Give me Sweeney and let one of those guys sit at the top of the order, preferable A-gon
  10. Any way you slice it, this team is better with A-gon Terrero and Fields in the lineup. Luis may have a better career than Brian Anderson will ever sniff.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) He may have been legal but he's still stupid. Going 40 in a 25 at 3:30 am and only .008 from being drunk, after all he's just been through. Probably a half a beer from being in a lot of trouble. Don't worry, Tank will hook up with another team and find his way to legal problems again. With a guy that big, he had to had several drinks to blow even that close to the legal limit. As much as I have done the same thing, when you just spent time in the clink, and are walking a tight rope with your team, you stay the hell away from anything but your house, and the TIVO
  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) the MLB had youtube take down the video, lol.... it was a video of someone giving ARam a reach-around after he hit the walk off homerun. not really. Someone actually stuck their hand in A-ram's taint and started rubbing it. And im not even kidding.
  13. Ozzie had a ton to do with the maturation of Jon Garland. Even Jon will say so. Any other opinion is really a huge stretch.
  14. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 09:35 AM) f*** you Kenny Williams. You should lose your job, for christ's sake. You are one of the worst managers ever! You can't go out of your norm one time for a once in a generation type of pitcher? Go to hell. I am sick of your stupid ass bulls***. Worst managers ever huh? If he was a manager I would say that maybe. He has actually been one of the best GM's around for a few years now.
  15. Any decent restaurant should have good mojitos. I would stick to a martini or loungey place for them to serve them correctly.
  16. My canon has a setting where it takes the pic. I really only use canons because of the quality but im sure others have suggestions.
  17. We arent going to trade Jon, hes our best pitcher and improves every year. It would be stupid not to make him a cornerstone of our rotation for the next several years.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 12:32 PM) Paxson was on the radio this morning and said when deciding who to take at #9 they had three guys in mind. Noah, Hawes and Yi. If Yi hits the trade block due to pressure from the Chinese government I could definitely see Paxson making a push for him. I hated the Noah pick by Pax. Absolutely hated it. That is until I saw their other two picks. I think Hawes is very comparable to Gray and the two could be somewhat similar from watching them play. Also Curry was a great talent pick. I like what Pax did there honesty.
  19. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 09:20 AM) A team using Andy Gonzalez, et.al., as a prominent players simply isn't sustainable. Everyone clamors for Twins-type players who make contact, can catch the ball and run. our defense has improved 100 percent with Dye out and A-Gon in the game. He is the type of player that many people on here want to play. It seems to be working. We have been taking extra bases on singles, stealing 2nd, making turns and putting pressure on the pitcher. If the middle keeps hitting, I have no problem with A-gon and LT playing.
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 03:19 PM) Not really. Even when Jon didn't "get it" he was still a league average pitcher at a very young age. Floyd may never be anything more than a league average pitcher when he finally "gets it" Where in the hell do you get that? Floyd is still very young and has better stuff than Jon. Jon didnt come into his own until the last few years. His first several years in the bigs were extremely pedestrian.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 12:43 PM) Over on RealGm there is some talk of a Gordon to the Hawks for the #3 pick. The Bulls would than select Horford at 3 and take a SG at 9 (maybe Corey Brewer??). Umm, that would be a huge huge improvement for the Bulls.
  22. im a blackberry guy through and through, I think having a stylus is stupid and I adore the click wheel.
  23. Give mark 14 per year for 5 years and sign the damn doc. Trade away the count to make some salary room and bring up Floyd. Done and done. We will have 2-3 minimum salary pitchers in our rotation for the next few years, no reason not to keep Mark.
  24. I actually think A-Gon is going ot be a decent CF'er. He will hit with more contact than LT.
