QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) Haha...thats seriously laughable. The move from the NL to AL wouldn't have a major impact on a guy like Z (not with his stuff). I realize his control problems would get him into a bit more trouble as he wouldn't have the pitchers spot to bail him out, but the guy has one of the best arms in all of baseball. And stats mean nothing right Jas? He has struggled against the AL in interleague play from the moment he started in the league. his "stuff" is good there is no doubt about that, but he benefits majorly from the pitchers spot and the piss poor competition in the NLC. I would venture to say that in the AL (most likely the east) he wouldnt crack a 4 ERA. Also here is a pretty good article with statistical references to the switch from league to league. http://sabermetricresearch.blogspot.com/20...al-than-nl.html

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 17, 2007 -> 02:00 PM) Which is why I included the second paragraph. But I'd want to see a good analysis. There's no obvious reason that AL teams would spend more on pitchers (but o/w, the change should be on average equal to the average difference between the leagues). Consider that the Giants outbid everyone for Zito. Lol, but it does show that pitching is prized in the NL. I need to see some evidence that one sees almost a full run difference. That's f'n huge -- all I'm saying is, convince me. Arroyo, Lilly, s*** even Rauch. Moving from the NL to the Al gives you about a run higher ERA. Not to mention moving from the weakest division (NLC) to probably the AL east would have killed his value.

Z made the right move. He signs in the AL this offseason and hears cries of bust for the next 6 years. Stay in the weakest division in baseball, get overpaid, and the fans dont watch the game. Its a players dream.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) In some cases, correct In a case like Harris, I'm not so sure. From what I have gathered online, Harris has made a little over a 1.5 during his major league service. Willie has a chance to CASH IN this off-season, and it most likely will be his only chance. Since when did Willile become a solution for anyone. We've seen him, hes not a starter in the AL. Count will be dealt this offseason, and that frees up cash.

honestly, even though you dont NEED it to be a phone, you will be annoyed with having 2 separate items. You will be better off getting a phone that doubles as a palm or blackberry. I am VERY loyal to blackberry but my new job required me to have a windows phone so I have the treo 700wx. Not that bad of a phone.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 04:10 PM) No. You should see my tax sheet especially when they send out increase notices and break down what the extra money is going towards. our taxes are ridiculous. And thats not counting the 10 percent sales tax that we deal with everyday.

Apologies to all from an east german decendant.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) No, no, I'm not sure I'm one to b**** about taxes or the size of taxes, but I have an issue with the government spending thousands of dollars to find out why bugs have sex or to put on a stupid air show. Are you a homeowner in chicago yet?

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 03:35 PM) From what I've seen this series, that Hannahan is pretty good 3B defensively. Getting to balls yes, but his throws to 1B are horrendous.

Heres something to think about: Thome hasnt slugged under .500 since 1993 This season: .490
-
Thome is done. No power stroke left in him whatsoever. He only looks for walks at this point. There is no reason we shouldnt be shopping him HARD this offseason.

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 16, 2007 -> 12:13 PM) Is that sarcasm? Because if it's not, I heard about her, too. I hear she can bench press about 400 pounds not its not sarcasm. I read about her when she was a freshman and last year they did an ESPN thing on her. It was well known in Ohio. -
Poreda appears ready to test the next level.

This is old news. Its Nick Mangold's little sister, this has been all over the news for years now. -
QUOTE(Jeremy @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 04:24 PM) Is there something I'm missing with DLS? He's a good prospect for sure but he's only five months younger than Gio and his numbers are only slightly better at a lower level. I'm not really sure I understand what all the hype is about. I There is NO WAY IN HELL that DLS is a better prospect than Gio. Not even close.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) Quite frankly, I would rather go with Owens, Fields, and Sweeney, with Anderson as a backup option, in the OF for $1.3 million next year than Juan Uribe at SS for $5.5 mil. Neither is a good idea...but given the dollar figures involved and the ability for the guys in the OF to at least improve...I'd rather go with the youth than another year with Juan. Fix that damn SS spot. Owens Dye and Fields is a much better OF IMO.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) I've seen the Twins win a few division titles with less. our offense doesnt entirely suck for the 1st half of the season and the pen is how it is right now and we are right in the hunt this year.
-
It sounds to me like the lineup may looking like this: 1. owens CF 2. Richar 2B 3. Thome DH 4. Kong 1B 5. Dye RF 6. AJP C 7. Fields LF 8. Crede 3B 9. SS?
-
And what happened to Dye?

liquid+sponge/loofa thing. Works like a charm.

QUOTE(ROC Sox Fan @ Aug 9, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) Hey, the bullpen did pretty good. the pen has been sweet. I dont know how Bukvich gets anyone out but he does.
