  1. QUOTE(WhiteSoxFan1 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) Ok so im gonna play it cool and continue life as scheduled, but if by the off chance she texts me, how do you guys suggest I play it? wait for awhile to respond, and then continue acting like there is something better going on than her. I cant believe im telling you to f*** with her, but it seems to me this is the type of girl that demands that action.
  2. Would you say he would be a better option than Boone/Thorton?
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) .So As soon as Miggy gets thrown into the lineup, he is going to revert back to 2002/3 time when he won the MVP.. just because Dye was able to. Who said that. I actually brought up his numbers and his splits from 2004-2006 his last three full seasons. And each one of those were great, top of the line numbers. He can do it in ANY lineup.
  4. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) Lots of money and a few cock push ups... Well......you could only really do one.
  5. These are the experiences that will allow you to find someone that really works for you. I have been through many bad relationships with game players, high maint women, sports-haters, cubs fans, no personalities, and other issues. Its those failed ones that will help you in the long run. IN this situation, honestly dont think about it, and see if she comes to you. Thats the only way thats its going to happen for ya.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) The point was.. and pointed out in error that no one can have a MVP season.. But Lucky for me, Dye magically did it one year so anyone can do it...according to you. Maybe you can explain how increasing payroll for one player is going to magically make this team better..without addressing the other holes we have on it? Probably one of the biggest hole on the Sox is the one in Uribe's swing. SS is a major issue and this allows us to fill it with a player who is a ridiculous offensive threat. And I have been pointing out the whole time, the largest negative is his salary, which is a huge hit against him. And stop bringing up Dye's numbers. He had a horrible first half, and it had nothing to do with hitting behind thome and Konerko(who also had a bad first half). Since the ASB Dye has put up .330 .385 1.158 OPS. He performs like this (which is close to what he did last year) and yes he puts up very good numbers again.
  7. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) Yeah, but the point does stand that Fields can't really catch up to fastballs right now. My guess is he will and be all right, but you never know, and that's his huge weakness now. If he can't, he'll be useless as you can't play in the majors and be incapable of hitting the fastball. He loads his bat quite a bit. I think he will learn to cut that down a bit and adjust. I am impressed with his ability to hit breaking balls however, as this team is about 80% fastball hitters.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) Inge is arguably the best third defensive third baseman in the AL -- Fields is going to have his range? I don't think so. I said a quick 3B LIKE Inge, saying that Inge is a quick 3B, but obviously Inge has many other tools that allow him to have more range that pretty much every 3B out there. But josh does have the quickness and athleticism to be like one of the quicker guys in the league. He needs some polish, but I see it.
  9. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 02:15 PM) So now your point has changed from "Nobody can hit behind Pauly and Thome" to "the Sox wont spend the money anyways" ? When did you become the team accountant and money distributor? Classic. I said with no regard to payroll and now its about payroll. Having Tejada makes this team better, bar none.
  10. s***, I have more to say on this: Lets assume he produces somewhere on his avg from his last three complete seasons. Lets not even go down the road of showing his avg of 100+rbi per season or his .363 OBP and .516 slg. How about sitational hitting. Dont we want some clutch players on this team that can produce? Man on 3rd less than 2 outs: .353 BA first and 3rd: .387 BA men on 2 out: .315 ba .386 OBP close and late: .318 BA .864 OPS He is a .321 hitter with any runners on base. He is a fast starter in April. The guy is one of the really good players in baseball, if his salary wasnt so high there would be very few negatives to having him on this team. Oh and the guy can hit LHP. Which is something we desperately need.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) So all that is needed at the SS position is Power.. that is the be all end all factor? That would be it if thats all he brought. The guy gets on base, is an RBI machine, puts up borderline MVP numbers and flat out plays. Besides his only "tool" power, he is a leader, plays with energy and makes the lineup yankees-scary.
  12. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) because he's f***ing amazing? Did I miss something where 31 year old shortstops who regularly put up MVP type numbers (and is only having a injury issues this year, yet still hitting .300) are not welcome on the team? And is a notoriously good leader and high energy player. This guy would thrive on a team with the talent we have around him. Could you imagine him in this lineup? I dont even know where to bat him. 1. Owens 2. Fields? 3. Thome 4. Konerko 5. Tejada 6. Dye 7. AJP 8. Sweeney 9. Richar
  13. I honestly think Josh will have the range of a quick 3B like Inge and be able to get to alot of grounders that alot of other 3B couldnt get. Will he be as smooth as Joe? Probably not. But I think before its said and done Fields will not be just an average 3B
  14. "At least they'll be out there" "yeah, but blank" "but they'll be out there"
  15. QUOTE(WhiteSoxFan1 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) Thats how I feel inside. I wouldnt let her know that, although maybe there could be some clues. However I talked to plenty of other girls at the party that would suggest that I didnt just single her out only. Dude any girl that acts like you just said either has a confidence issue, plays games better than you, or is ashamed of dating you. I hope thats not too harsh but thats the way that I read it. Once you lose the control in a situation like that, which it sounds like you have, you are in for a world of hurt unless you can flip it back. My advice in this situation is play it VERY aloof to the point where she has to make the first and second move (texts in your case) and then you can throw her a bone(no pun intended). Of course the best way of going about it, but not the easiest, is to be honest ,confront her, ask her whats up, tell her you want to spend time with her and face the possible rejection that comes along with it. This is the best way to get into an honest relationship, but also the best way to look like a desperate guy. There are several ways for guys and girls to act when going into a somewhat relationship. One way is to play games and make the person and the situation work for you. The other way is to be straight up, be honest, and if it doesnt work out, forget about it and move on to the next one. Either way, there are SOOO many women out there to get to know, so dont get too focused on one.
  16. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) you're obviously someone that hasn't seen Mrs. PA... no offense, but I win the soxtalk hottest spouse contest. Oh ive seen her, if you know what I mean
  17. QUOTE(WhiteSoxFan1 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 11:47 AM) eh I dont think so man. I know this comes off as insecure and needy, but ive got my mind set on this girl. Its uncharacteristic, but im not settling for anything else until I know where I stand with this girl. You've already lost the battle then.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) I want no part of Tejada..The last thing this club needs is another power bat in the lineup.. I would have thought 2005 and the 1st half offense would have shown the fans something. How to play baseball the right way, which leads to winning baseball. But, it seems most fans are stuck in the riods era of having 5 guys hit 30hrs makes for great highlights on baseball tonight.. does not make for winning baseball. I am having a hard time figuring out why someone would be so against having a player hitting 300 with a 350+ OBP 20+ HR's and 100 RBI's. You have a chance at adding 800+ OPS to your lineup you take it. Not to mention his daily energy levels and leadership and there arent many negatives other than his paycheck.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) No chance. He isn't in the same territory. Heck, just look at last night's game. Fields is a below average defender. He may eventually get better - I hope he does. But even then, its unlikely he gets to Crede's level defensively. I'd like to pull out some numbers, but with Fields only playing a small bit, his defensive numbers are probably not a good measure yet. D numbers usually need most or all of a season to become useful. Yes, I looked at every game. Apparently Crede never made any bad decisions in the field? I seem to remember a deja vu moment against the Red Sox where he dropped an easy pop up just like Josh did yesterday. If you take Crede's first few months as a starting 3B and Josh's I think you would see a very fair comparison and to me since Josh is so athletic I feel that he will keep improving every day.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 10:26 AM) I'd really like to see them try Fields in LF. It just makes so much sense. Fields is a sub-par defensive 3B, whereas Crede is well above average. The team has an obvious need for outfielders. Fields is young, cheap and developing fairly well. If Crede isn't healthy or is traded, Fields can move back to 3B with no harm done. And maybe the Sox can get an OF out of a deal for Crede. I have no idea where you have gotten the impression that Josh is a sub-par 3B. Everything I have seen from him states otherwise. In fact I wouldnt be surprised if he isnt as good if not a bit better than Crede eventually.
  21. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) im pretty sure if you are taken off waivers you can't be placed back on....so tejada will be an O until the offseason for sure I honestly have no idea what I was thinking.
  22. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 08:44 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/standings?date=20050806 I got nervous just remembering what that felt like.
  23. He still will go back through waivers again. And most likely we will claim him again right? The sox could use Miggy's energy, leadership and bat IMO.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) ozzie wanted to have his wet dream OF all together. How'd that OF perform today SSI?
  25. Too early to release a pitcher that only a short time ago was as dominant as any pitcher in the league. Let him heal on the DL and ride him out next year.
