  1. QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) You got anything to back up your opinion? Crawford is only 25, is an all around player, and is the exact kind of hitter the Sox need in the lineup. McCarthy is still unproven and to tell you the truth he didn't look all that great last year. Hmmm. Last year as a starter 1-1 3.86 ERA. From that sample size you determine he doesnt look that great? He is probably one of the most valuable pieces of the rotation going into next year based on his age, his talent and his cost. Please convince me otherwise.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) Exactly. Omar has put together a very good lineup over in NY, and isn't going to let it go to waste because they can't pitch. The Mets find themselves right in the middle of that "3-4 year window" all teams love to be in. If they can find the right match, I dont see any reason why Minaya wont deal away prospects to get guys to help him win now. Thats what makes this attractive for both teams. We need to get rid of an SP and need some pen and spect help, and they really need one or two sp's for their rotation.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) I think thats a given, however I find it interesting alot of talk about Freddy and Vaz are coming from NEW YORK, and not from Chicago. I still have my money on Kenny getting deal done with the Mets or Texas this off-season.... I think that it would be an interesting deal for both teams. If the mets get one of our sp's they immediately look very good to win that division again next year. Also we could use the bullpen arm and the prospect.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) Heilman will not be a good starter. I somewhat agree just based on his stats as a starter 3-6 5.01 ERA in the NL. But you gotta admint he has some good stuff. I agree though he is better as a reliever. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) I saw that as well. Anyone catch the blurb in the Times?? That was from yesterday... FG for Heilman and Lastings would be a steal. Obviously we would have to include more pieces.
  5. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) Freddy Garica is the #1 pitcher that will be traded from the team this year, his age, shoulder stiffness and velocity decline makes him alot more expendable than your best pitcher of the last 5 years. Since 2001 Buehrle has been a cornerstone of the rotation and has been one of the most valuable players on the team. He had one off year and suddenly he sucks to you? Your idea alone of trading an extremely valuable pitcher for Sheffield is already terrible, saying you would trade Buehrle for him before Garcia is even worse.
  6. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) Which pitcher was shutting teams down to end the season? And which one was getting destroyed left and right? Hahahahahahaha. Keep digging buddy.
  7. Interesting note at the bottom of that article, Heilman wants to start or get traded.
  8. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) With Dye likely to regress and injury/age concerns with Thome, I would hope the Sox pick up a hitter of Sheff's caliber. I'm not sure if Sheffield is that guy, but I wouldn't dismiss this as easily as some here. I certainly wouldn't do it for Freddy... perhaps Buehrle, but not Freddy. You would trade Buehrle for Sheffield, but not Garcia? Thats not going to go a long way for your credibility as a sox fan.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) Slow start is putting it mildly. Playing badly when it mattered including piss poor fielding would be putting it correctly. The guy produced at the plate only when it doesn't matter and never produces in the field. Wow, pretty ignorant way to look at a player. Im not sure if the season EVER mattered for the cubs, but a player who put up the season long numbers like he did is a top player. What if he started out hot and got cold, would he then be a better player? Then you would say he didnt produce when it mattered at the END of the season. The guy flat out rakes, deal with it.
  10. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) I love being right. I told alot of people that Tyrus Thomas is a stud and will continue to be a stud for many, many years broken nose or not. He was impressive, but I think Thabo was far and away a surprise for me. Also I like the style we are playing this year against the heat, rebound and run all day long. With the interior defense we now have, we should be able to get quick boards and outlet before the other team can turn around. Also Deng will continue to be a force.
  11. QUOTE(Nokona @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) You're right, Christiensen's upside is tons better than Tate's. No doubt that what he did on Saturday has everyone in IC very very excited for the future but you can never be sure. Off the top of my head I believe Drew has 10 INTs. I know 4 of those were tipped balls because our recievers blow. tate's upside is so low because of how easily he rattles. One bad play, one sack and he completely unravels.
  12. Freddy is worth more on the market than Sheffield, so no.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) Hmm ok. Well Cora literally cost us at least a run a game the last 3 months of this year, so I'll stand by what I said. But interesting point. I've never seen a more ridiculous statement in my life. You really think Cora cost us over 60 runs? Please. You people need a better outlet for your frustration.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) Cause Neal has more upside and I still think he's going to be a real good long term reliever. Yes he had a horrible year but that does happen with relievers now and then. Like I said, I'll take my chances with Neal. ah, so ignore all numbers and go by your "feelings" I understand.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) I disagree, I'll take my chances with Neal. ummm ok, based on what? Keep in mind that they also dont compete for the same position mostly Cotts 2004 5.65 2005 1.94 2006 5.17 Riske 2002 5.26 2003 2.29 2004 3.72 2005 3.10 2006 3.89 I would say the safer bet is with Riske, and he is definatley a better option than "hoping" someone from AAA will come up and be a good pitcher. Riske also happens to be pretty damn effective when given 70+ innings of work.
  16. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) you can say that again... weird double post, because I didnt hit the post button twice. The freaking island probably did it.
  17. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Perhaps Neil Cotts can find his groove and some young pitchers from Charlotte might help out. Riske is a better bet IMO than those 2 scenarios.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) He better be playing sidekick though. He proved last year he can't do it unless he has major lineup protection, and I still don't like the idea of a guy not showing up for 3 months, waiting for the team to die, then fattening up when the season is done to get his money. But then again, you see lots of guys like that on World Champs, so maybe your right. I wouldnt have minded a strong second half player on my white sox team. IM sure the tigers would have given their left nut for one of those down the stretch.

    So gross

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) How does that work? I just don't get how it's possible to get so much into such a small area. His plummer either loves him or hates him. No in-between for thta guy. They had a documentary about him and his background. They showed him literally eating 3 BUCKETS of pasta when visiting this famous Chef in Japan. He then tore into an all you can eat sushi place. It was unreal to say the least. Above all of that he is in tremendous shape, extremely lean and ripped. The guy was born to eat, there really is no other explanation.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) When Derek Lee went down Aramis was expected to pick up some of the slack. As was stated earlier, he didn't. He had a good late second half when the season was over. Meaningless numbers. Plus he is absolutely horrendous fielding 3rd base. He tried to catch an easy pop up and it bashed him right on his big freaking melon head. No, I would not want him on my team. I would love to see him with the Angels. He is not a winner. In fact he will make a good team lose. Yes, im sure that he is a bad player because he had a slow start, im sure that is totally what type of player he is, blah blah blah 30 hr's 100+rbi's you can paint it any way you want to. The guy can flat out produce.
  21. Sometimes I want to punch lost for making me want to watch something so badly. The pace-maker thing was unreal, and I believed it. Jack scrubbing in was the first non-planned thing, and was quite cool in the grand scheme of thigns. Sometimes I want to punch lost for making me want to watch something so badly. 22. Something to think about: The top three pitching FA's are Jason Schmidt, Barry Zito, and Matzu-whateva The white sox have trading chips in Freddey Garcia, Buehrle, Contreras, and Vaz. At leat 14 teams are looking for SP's this offseason. We should feel comfortable with what we are going to get for one of our guys.
  23. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) Too bad for Cubs fans that he was absolutely invisible when they needed him most. The vast majority of his numbers last season came when the season was lost and done with, and he could officially shift into "play for the new contract mode". He's the Joe Murphy of baseball - nice numbers, but all of them empty and meaningless. I didnt know he wasnt there to pitch in the rotation when they needed him most.
  24. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 31, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) I say have lots of sex. ^^^^^
