  1. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) How so? Im assuming because of Ichiro's ability to play other fields such as CF, whilst Dye is only a RF'er and doesnt quite have the fielding talent, that it would be easier for Ichiro to move to LF whilst keeping Dye in RF. I could be wrong but it seemed like common sense to me.
  2. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Ichiro is vastly superior in RF than Dye. I believe you get JD to switch to LF. Yes but Dye in RF Ichiro in LF is > than Dye in LF Ichiro in RF
  3. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) IF somehow Ichiro was brought here next season, wouldn't he play RF and Dye move to left? Why make that change? Ichiro has shown he can play anywhere, Dye only plays RF.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) Or a strong receiver like Anquan Boldin.... But to be fair, the Cover 2 defense is pretty much made to contain, not stop, the pass. He is better than Vasher against strong WR's
  5. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) Tillman is one of the worst CBs I have ever seen. He is HORRIBLE. Vasher at least can get INTs. Tillman belongs on the practice squad. He would start at every position for the lowly lions. Vasher is a midget and cannot tackle larger WR's that is a fact. Rick Manning is better at covering than Tillman but he went out hurt.
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) Depending on how sophisticated they get, using the distances between gun and target and the wounds on the victims, they could probably determine the guage of the shotgun. Similarly, maybe the barrell length, based on spread. But they'd need some scientific analysis. There may also be damage in the car, residue and what not. And yes, you can tell to some extent how long since it had been fired or cleaned. Well, did he give up his shotgun or his handgun? Because within most guns there is a spiral shape in the inside of the barrel. This sometimes is used to ID guns and match them with bullets because its almost a finger-print type of effect on the round. If they still have the bullet , it can be matched with Uribe's gun.
  7. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) It's just easier to tell yourself nothing is credible within our system. Covers every division of a team; from catcher to relief pitching. Well he can be more realistic and say we have a few good arms in our system, but nothing outstanding. We very well could have 3-4 solid major league pitchers in our system.
  8. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) I don't think Seattle would part with him. But, if we did pick him up, for LF or CF, that would be most excellent. That would solve the problems of a leadoff hitter, solid defender and offensive presence in the OF, speed and execution. Exactly, you have to think that Seattle will have to part with him at some time if they want to improve their team in the future. They need some young talent to go along with Felix, and Ichiro wont be around when that team finally gets good IMO. With ichiro, our offense is set in my mind. The next thing we would need is some bullpen help and maybe an SP, maybe. 1.Ichiro LF 2. Gooch 2B 3. Dye RF 4. Thome DH 5. Kong 1b 6. Crede 3B 7. AJP C 8. SS ? 9. BA CF Based on his career numbers, Ichiro would bring a .331 avg a .376 OBP and around 45 SB's a year. Not to mention making our corner OF'ers some of the best arm tandems in the league. Quick edit: ichiro posted a .352 .397 against LHP last year!!!
  9. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 01:13 AM) I'm flying to Iceland next month. I have a crippling fear of flying. How can I get past it? I have an intense fear of flying and I fly around 8-10 times a month, and travel 50-75 percent of the time. The way I get over it? Reading books while its taking off, not sitting in the window seat, possibly take some depressents before flying, or just sitting back and bearing the pain. I HATE taking off more than anything, its the worse, every time the plane levels off my stomach drops.
  10. I think going for Pierre is the wrong direction. If we are trying to pick up a lead off outfielder, there is no reason we shouldnt be agressively pursuing Ichiro.
  11. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 07:22 PM) That's right, I forgot the first half doesn't count. In that case, sign me up for Jeff Suppan winning the National League Cy Young. He was virtually unhittable in the second half. Funny, i didnt know Suppan was a rookie.
  12. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Brian Anderson was one of the worst offensive players in all of baseball in one of the most forgiving hitters parks. I value defense just as much as the next, but Pierre would be an upgrade over Anderson as a whole in my opinion, especially considering Ozzie Guillen would rather place Thome or Konerko in center than Anderson it seems. Worst offensive players in baseball huh? Well he was a rookie, and after half of a season of scuffling he put up .257 .301 post all star. If that is one of the worst in baseball then I significantly underestimated the futility in the MLB. Also he is one of the top defensive CF'ers, which is a huge upgrade over anyone that we can put in that position. Pierre would be an upgrade offensively, but a HUGE downgrade defensively.
  13. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) You should post the whole PM. Never have I had any problems with you, I hope you don't have your panties in a bunch because Tony was dead wrong in that instant. Way to stay classy, big guy. Disgraceful. Neccessary? Not really.
  14. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) I suppose what I should have been preaching is that Joe Crede doesn't deserve that amount of money. He very well might get it from some team stupid enough to give it to him ala Seattle w/ Beltre, I just don't want that team to be the White Sox. Not many players deserve the money they are paid, but the market dictates the value of a player.
  15. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) Not from Ames, but yeah, Grieving was part of the masaterful ISU-Iowa Hawkchokejob of 2002. He got -2 points. He was clutch in the bowl game though.
  16. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) I'm not even that big of a Pierre fan, but he's certainly a better player than Brian Anderson is at this point. not defensively, so how is he better? Plus Pierre isnt going to take BA's spot, he will take POD's
  17. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) I just have a hard time seeing him make at or around what David Ortiz makes, even if Ortiz doesn't play in the field. Alot of players make that much money, and dont produce as much as ortiz.
  18. A Source very close to the tribune suggests that Pinella wants A-rod. Hilarious.
  19. QUOTE(danman31 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 10:17 AM) I disagree. The offense was awful for the entire game but the defense was very good for at least the 2nd half, arguably the last 3 quarters of the game. The defense was good except for the first AZ drive. After that they were put in their own territory 4 times. Urlancher decided to take it upon himself to right the ship. He is nothing short of amazing.
  20. Weeds is probably one of the funniest shows on TV at times. Good show.
  21. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) well Heads lives in Iowa, I figure that's worse than South Dakota Hes the 2nd best thing to come out of Ames, after Aaron Greving.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) The game was boring, nothing exciting happened. That was probably one of the most exicting games I have ever seen. Talk about sour grapes. Also, once again the Bears weakness is exposed. Short quick passes and bubble screens will continue to hurt this defense. We wont give up the big play, but we will give up many small plays. Also Nathan Vasher is too small to cover a large receiver like Boldin, we need to keep Tillman on those types of guys.
  23. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 01:39 AM) With what? Felix Pie, Sean Marshall and some magic beans? The Sox have mlb talent to replace ARod on the Yankees mlb roster. The tribune hype machine is in full motion, with Lou Pinella being the greatest manager ever, to Jim Hnedry aquiring the best FA's and making ridiculous trades.
  24. Ken Macha should be near the top of the list for a bench coach IMO.
  25. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) But not after you've been banned before... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showuser=4001 what kind of idiot uses the same avatar as his banned SN?
