  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) 7 days a week, and twice on Sunday. I would rather let A-rod play great defense at SS and let Fields play 3B.
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) We're not going to the playoffs AND still have Ozzie Guillen to make inane decisions for next year. You are ridiculous.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) Do we teach our players to not protect at the plate? Both Fields and Sweeney have looked like statues today watching the called 3rd strike. So did Thome, have we not taught him how to hit either? 97 mph gas followed by a high 80's slider is hard to hit and hard to see. Come on man, sometimes the pitcher beats you.
  4. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) Iowa got OWNED!!! OSU is THE best team in the country hands down. Yeah, Iowa didnt really stand much of a chance, Drew Tate continues to be one of the largest hothead QB's in college football. Rattle him once, and the game is ova!
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) Judging by his error numbers at 3B and SS, that might be the place for him anyway. There has been rumors of that. He has no hands in the IF.
  6. Astros 81-78 in the NL Central (one of the worst divisions in baseball) Sox 88-71 in the Al central (one of the best divisions in baseball)
  7. QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) I'm looking forward to seeing Chuck a lot these next 4 games. Like i said when his pitch is on its filthy, and from hearing Coop's words its encouraging that he might be with the white sox for the future. his knuckler is very filthy, and he has shown signs of being able to pitch to major league batters.
  8. Nobody has thought of it, but maybe we should think of moving Iguchi at some point. He has high value.
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) No, I don't want Mack and Byrnes getting even playing time, and I don't want one or the other in the lineup everday. Also, Omar Vizquel > Uribe. Have you bothered to look at Omar's production lately? The guy can still play, and he's a cheap option (which was brought up by Northsidesox72) He can stil play? Great. Lets give something up for 1 year of someone who "can still play." 2 years ago, maybe, no, no freaking way.
  10. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) If Zib runs a sub 4.5 I would be shocked. And Im talking at the combine, not what fluff coachs say. When I see him he seems slow, but thats just my opinion. When you see WR running past the ND DB's its enough evidence to me.
  11. QUOTE(Wanne @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I brought this up in a post sometime this summer....only to get lamented for how catchers usually set up. I know how catchers set up...I've pitched in various leagues throughout my life. But at the time I brought this up...I swear...AJ was all over the place and seemed to not even set the glove until the ball was actually being delivered. He seemed to shore it up pretty well shortyly after I noticed it. I will say this quickly, and I am not saying he is anywhere as good as AJ or anything like that, but I really liked how Stew set up last night. AJ is lazy setting up, which hurts him sometimes, and Sandy sets up too far outside 80 percent of the time. I also do not feel that AJ uses high fastball quite as much as he should.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Furcal's career OBP isn't that good for the money he makes, and I can't see LA dealing him, let alone throwing more money to get rid of him after his productive year. If they were worried about money (which I don't think they are,) I think it's more likely they owuld move and eat money on JD Drew. Personally I like the idea of Byrnes/Mack at the top of the lineup, but I'm not sure if Byrnes would come here for a platoon role. Put them at #1 and get Omar Vizquel, a true #2 hitter behind them. Vs. LHP Mack: .208/.208/.276 Byrnes: .329/.384/.595 Vs. RHP Byrnes: .247/.291/.443 Mack: .304/.380/.438 So you are campaigning that to win the World Series next year, a good idea would be to have our lead off man be 50 percent Mackowiak, and 50 percent Eric Byrnes, with a 40 year old SS thrown in there for good measure at the #2 guy. Helllllllllllloooooo 3rd place again.
  13. The hole with that last post is that the 0-3 outs might have been where they wanted him to go more innings, he just couldnt get anyone out.
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) If both Young and Crisp are added (something I feel is very unlikely to happen), then I'm pretty sure you'd see Crisp leading off and Young batting second. Crisp is closer to having the type of speed that Ozzie looks for out of the leadoff spot, and Young is an excellent, excellent #2 hitter. They are both excellent #2 guys, in fact they both have an .837 OPS in that slot, Young is just a better leadoff guy than Crisp is. After coming back and looking at young's stats, he is exactly the type of guy we need on this club. Clutch, hits to the opposite field, and doesnt try for the longball in all situations. Check out these numbers for 2006: Bases empty .310 .355 .794 Runners On .322 .361 .848 RISP .411 .444 1.053 RISP/2outs .415 .483 1.049 Man on 3rd
  15. QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) GMJ = Tom Goodwin circa 1998 with less SB and more HR, no thank you let some other team bite, hes 32. from SS i would love to see Michael Young or Jimmy Rollins and for LF i wouldn't mind Crisp or an inhouse opition if the lead off hitter comes from LF i wouldn't be against keep juan, but for the love of god get Mr. Hriniak back working with uribe, that foot tap last season was huge. As for our SP deal one potentially two of them to land the peices for '07 and restock our farm next year. Does anyone know how the '07 draft is looking? Those two ideas I like alot. Young and Rollins could both lead off and help the team, Crisp was one of the best #2 hitters in the game last year, and is excellent in LF. You could then move your lineup around a bit and even it out as well. 1. Young/rollins SS 2. Crisp LF 3. Dye RF 4. Thome DH 5. Kong 1B 6. Crede 3B 7. Iguchi 2B 8. AJP C 9. BA CF
  16. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Sep 28, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) i think regulating transfat is wrong. requiring restaurants to disclose what they cook with is right. force them to inform me and let me make the decision. The only problem is that our country is one of the most overweight if not the most overweight and unhealthy in the world. One of the reasons for this is these places serving food with dangerous fat. You would think people have the knowhow to make their own decisions, and then you see them eating until they cant leave their beds and then trying to sue companies for serving them the food.
  17. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) Zibby has speed. Either way you get near him hes gonna fu*ck your ass up. Every offensive player fears him. Its too bad he didnt get anywhere near Manningham.
  18. I was impressed by Stewart tonight as anyone in the game thread saw. The kid threw out Sizemore twice, and once with a knuckler on the hill.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) Smart. Love to hear your off-season plan. I wouldnt. Pretty worthless IMO.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) If Stewart could play better defense than Widger, would that make up for him having a poor BA? Hell, we get into the playoffs if we stop playing Mackowiak in CF. It would be closer for sure.
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) We will win more games with 1 more quality relief pitcher than we will with a backup righty catcher instead of Stew. Ding ding ding. It is the least of our worries. In fact our bullpen is one of the most needed areas to improve, it was why we were so good in 2005. If we get BMAC in throwing like he is throwing, improve the pen, and swap out an SP and PODS for a lead off hitter, I think just that gets us in the playoffs. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) All I'm asking for is a back-up catcher who can hit over .200, especially after facing the tough lefties in the division. Widger was perfect in the role last season. Widger? Man you must hate Stewart something awful.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 08:08 PM) Again, I'm not just talking about Santana. We looked clueless against C.C. and Rogers this season, and the LHP is only going to get better in our division. Come on fath, the problem isnt the backup catcher. Stew would be perfect in that role and you know it.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 27, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) Charlie looks to be trying his best to keep a locker at the Cell for next season... Sure is. What a great option to have if he can get it together.
