  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) I was inclined to believe that before he said anything. There is almost no physical activity invented by man that man cannot design a drug to help out with. I would say if you compare all major sports on TV, golfers are by far in the worst shape out of all of them. Some of these guys are borderline obese. I dont know if I would suspect juicing in golf at all.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 10:14 AM) They do, in military school. Heck, even public schools in some places now require uniforms. And that is sort of my point - these kids are very far from the real world. School is part of how we adapt and learn in society. School is like going to work, for kids. I don't think public schools should require uniforms, but i do think a dress code is reasonable. Just like one is at work. I don't have to wear a suit every day, but I can't show up looking like a slob either. Kids can still be kids, even with a dress code. They can still play and have fun and interact. I don't see this as a hinderence to those things. Are you serious with this line in bold? Because you just made my point for me. Adults don't go to work with their pants around the middle of their asses. Yes, wearing a uniform will prepare them for their job at McD's Fedex and Coldstone.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) Let me ask you this... How many places of work can you walk into as an employee with pants down to your ass and a tank top? The answer is very few. And school is supposed to teach kids the things they need to know to survive and succeed in the real world. Asking them to pull up their pants and have sleeves on their shirts isn't nearly as much to ask as many of their future jobs have. These kids are very far from your "real world." They are kids. Baggy pants? Tank tops? Come on, why dont we make everyone march in a line and wear a uniform while we are at it.
  4. Mack is not a Cf'er someone needs to inform Ozzie of this.
  5. QUOTE(soxfan72 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) Santana. Be afraid. Edited to say, no evidence? Here it is again: "With the best offense in baseball this team should be blowing the Twins in to the weeds. This team was built on hitting. Who have we blown away lately? Who have we blown away all year except for a young Tigers team????" I give up. Please stop, you are digging yourself a deep hole here.
  6. QUOTE(Balance @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) I've been discussing doing a full-season split, too, and I would be thrilled to do it in the Club Level. Of course, I realize that no one here knows me (and vice-versa), but I think having a set of clearly-defined, written rules could make something like this work. If you're looking for another person to join a group to split some season tickets, please consider me as well. I will as well. I already have feelers out to others and my ticket rep.
  7. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 11:07 AM) I am very impressed to read your posts, people. However, none of us has the power to make the lineup, and unfortunately Thome will continue to hit 3rd. If Thome gets hot, then we're in good shape. If Thome slumps, the offense is designed around him and it will sputter big time, which will likely cost the playoffs. I truly hope JD remains in the 3 spot and Thome goes to 5th. I can't begin to tell you how HUGE a difference it will make in the ability of the offense to score with more regularity, perhaps even more production. Ozzie is a creature of habit, and he's not likely to change, unless Dye goes on a superhuman tare while in the 3 spot and the Sox continue to win. Then he won't mess with what works......I cringe to think of the White Sox going into that last series with Minnesota less than 3 games up with Santana and possibly Liriano pitching and having Pods, Gooch, and Thome at the top 3. It would be a f***ing disaster. Its not really him slumping, he just doesnt hit LHP, and they effectively take away alot of thome's hits with that shift. Its almost impossible for him to dink a single with a man on 2nd. JD does that very well. He can spray the ball all over the field. And it breaks up the worst LHP hitting trio in baseball.
  8. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:52 AM) Is that not just typical, that on a Sox day those dickhead Cub fans have to "protest"? Geez. But they dont care about the sox at all!!!!!!
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) LMAO Unreal. How do you call someone 'Pudge' when they look like Nicole Ritchie? Just look at his numbers all of a sudden he is hitting 35 hr's 113 RBI's .332 BA , the year after that he hits .346 with 27 bombs. How many does he have this year, 9?
  10. Im perplexed by the conversation that was going on during the game on the tigers board on MLB.com. They were saying that our team is filled with juicers, especially thome, and that I-Roid wasnt on the stuff, he just got smaller because people typically shrink with age.
  11. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:09 AM) Yes, the rules are the most important thing. Especially, how the playoffs get handled. Totally. Its all about being fair. You cant always have everything. I really want to split some club levels with someone soon. I really have fallen for those seats.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) If you split, just be sure you have all the rules set. We have a friend who has 6 "partners"... and you know they are all looking for playoff tickets now. Some of them aint gonna be friends much longer. I have the 27 game set for myself and I split 81 games with other people. its gotten to the point now where guys are getting a little greedy and its time to break off the agreement.
  13. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) I have a few reasons I would line it up Dye, PK, Thome. 1. Pods and Iguchi suck against lefties. But if you hit Dye #3 and Thome #4, the opposing manager will just intentionally walk Dye at times and keep his lefty to face Thome. Putting Paulie #4 kills that idea. 2. PK is a better contact hitter behind Dye. I don't want Thome's strike outs in the #4 hole any more than I want them in the #3 hole. Plus, PK lives for that 4 hole. 3. The #5 slot is the middle of the lineup. We hit best last year when a lefty occupied that slot (Everett). 4. Thome's HR damage should come with more men on base. Having JD and PK ahead of him is going to maximize that impact. Plus, with men on base, the shift becomes less available. 5. Putting Thome #5 also puts Crede #6 and AJ #7, where they belong. I agree with every point.
  14. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 08:33 AM) i wanted to split a package with people at work, but couldn't get anyone, so just got the partial. My close, non-work friends are communists, I mean Cub fans. So I had limited options. I have actually been looking for new people to split a season with.
  15. Wow, this isnt booing because they did poorly, this is racist letters and death threats, its a whole different arena.
  16. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) I agree that a lot of Thomes success or lack there if is very cotingent of how Pods and Iguchi are doing. Yeah, and once again they all do s***ty against LHP.
  17. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 05:48 PM) I've been saying this all year. Everybody drinks the Thome kool-aid because he's got big numbers. Problem is when he gets cold, so does the rest of the lineup, and the offense sputters. Having him in the 3 spot has cost the Sox several ballgames, DESPITE Thome's big numbers. And yes I know this is the most potent offense in baseball, and Thome has a lot to do with it. But the offense is INCONSISTENT, and that inconsistency costs ballgames. Dye has been a more consistent hitter throughout the season, and although his strikeout ratio I consider to be high, it is not the astronomical 30% ratio that Thome whiffs at. Thome has, by far, the highest strikeout ratio of ANY 3 hitter in baseball. The closest one to him is Derek Lee of the beloved Cubs in the northside at 24%. I contend that the offense will be more fluid and consistent, possibly even more productive by having Thome batting cleanup against righties and moving down to 5th against lefties. And all you sabermetricians out there, save your bull**** 'cause I don't want to hear all that stupidity. Its not necessarily him getting cold, its that the 1,2,3 hitters cant hit LHP for s***. Dye crushes both.

  19. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Where do you want Thome to bat against a lefthanded starter? Are you saying you want him out of the lineup? Batting sixth, seventh? sixth sounds good, maybe 4th. You can twist it around all you want, PODS, gooch and Thome are atrocious vs LHP. With them in order against LHP you can insert a LOOGY and get all of them. Detroit couldnt do that today with Dye in the 3 hole, and they walked him to get to kong. That wouldnt have happened with Thome in there. Oh and Dye is our best hitter with RISP>
  20. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) Are you implying we don't want Thome back? Just wondering. not in the 3 hole against LHP we dont.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) In the AL thats definately the definition of an ace. My guess is Johan is about the only guy with an ERA better than Jon's since the start of last year. in the NL he would be sub 3. Check out Arroyo for proof of the difference.
  22. QUOTE(mu mu @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) I'd like to know, too, why'd they pull him out? Because we are kicking their ass.
  23. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) What board is it, Motown sports? MLB. I cant think of a more obvious juicer in the MLB today other than Bons than I-roid.
  24. Obvisouly an intelligent reporter as he calls Mike MacDougal the sox closer.
  25. in fact they are saying it is MORE likely that Thome is on the juice that I-roid. And that thome has gotten bigger over the past 5 years.
