  1. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) Or you could NOT go to college...take a job because you need the job, and then work your way up within that company. I never went to college. Very hard to do nowadays.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 02:59 PM) And Barker. Truth, though I could do without Barker. Outside of Hjalms and Keith, all our D men can be swapped out IMO.
  3. Its actually a story I tell quite a bit to clients and newbies in the industry. When I graduated college I wanted to be a ski instructor/bum. I took all the tests, I am more than qualified and made my plans to move to Utah a few months after graduation. One challenge: I had about 65 dollars in my bank account. I took a job at CDW like most new grads to make some coin and here I am almost 7 years later making a great living off of selling high end software technologies and loving my day to day. Never made that trip to utah to live there, but have taken several business trips and vacations to the mountains.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 02:54 PM) Damn you salary cap! ...and Stan Bowman/Dale Tallon/whomever you want to blame for fax miscues. That was the big error, the fax miscue cost us quite a bit with Versteeg.
  5. QUOTE (JoeBatterz @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) I'd take him in a minute. Not sure that we have the package that they would want in return. What cheap veterans and prospects could we offer? As far as prospects, you could offer a few of Danks, Flowers, Hudson, Torres or Viciedo. Those are very compelling talents in areas where Detroit will have a need. Bobby Jenks could be an interesting name for them since their closer just left in Free Agency.
  6. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) If Flowers actually does project as a Catcher at the Major League level, we'd be fools to deal him. However, if he looks more like a DH/1B candidate, I'd make him available to help the team make a run next year. He improve a ton behind the plate this year, he is staying at catcher, and should be good offensively and avg defensively.
  7. FWIW Pryor was sporting a Michigan shirt before he announced, the kids like to drive us crazy.
  8. Versteeg also continues to be awesome. He is always at the other end of a Kane cross ice pass, always crashing the net and getting good chances. We cant let that guy go anywhere.
  9. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 09:47 AM) The Tigers aren't going to deal Jackson or Granderson within the division. I'm sure we could get Maggs, Inge, Robertson, Bonderman, Willis, Guillen, etc. but that's not exactly helping us. Well until I hear them say something like that, I would assume they would take the best package regardless of who the team is. Its not totally out of the question to have trades made in the division.
  10. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 10:55 AM) Tyler Flowers shouldn't be traded. Agreed, he could be starting in 2011, no need to trade him.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) Noah being left off the All-Star ballot is kinda ridiculous. Anyway, heres an ESPN sponsored blog about why Noah is the 3rd best center in the NBA so far this year. http://bullsbythehorns.com/?p=1324 I hear ya Rick.
  12. The big 6 for OSU are all signed sealed and delivered as of today. 2-5's 2-4's and 2-3's
  13. http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/hardball/yan...w4ntvdRpbuw2iJJ I would take him in a heartbeat, put him in CF and leadoff. Your thoughts?
  14. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) if someone close to you died, and the murder was up for execution... would you support or be against the execution? I'll say that I would be against it... not that I'm pro-life or anything, but I'd just like the person to suffer each and every day of their live, living in a 4 ft by 4 ft cell, never seeing freedom again. I feel like executing them, is the cowards way out. I'd prefer execution if I could be involved and all I would need would be a simple claw hammer and the guy tied to a chair.
  15. Votto would be a perfect fit, LH power bat, can play 1B or DH. I am not sure it would take Floyd or Danks, but Danks2+Hudson+more maybe could be attractive? We would have to clean out our minor league system for Votto.
  16. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) I'm not really liking any of these uniforms the more I look at them. I guess the OSU one is nicest because someone has to have the nicest looking uniform. Its supposed to be a "throwback" but its not really all that accurate to be honest.

  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) We have allowed our home run hitters to walk. We have a ballpark designed for a power hitting club and we seem to be going to other way. They one in 2005 with some power and in 2008 but now he are sacrificing power and defense from what I can tell. Wrong, they won in 2005 with ridiculous pitching. They had a 100 run differential over their opponents. They scored 70 more runs in 2008 than they did in 2005 and 120 more in 2006, it didnt matter, its all about keeping the runs off the board.
  19. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) Please explain why this would be that bad? 2-8 all have the potential to hit .270 with 20 HR and 70 RBI and who knows what D2 can do and if we have the pods of last year we're fine. esp. with this staff, i would like to see the addition of one more bopper but i honestly think if we put that out there next year and our starting staff stays healthy we'll be fine. Yeah, but they wont. That lineup is seriously bad, like rally killing bad.
  20. I honestly have no idea who that is.
  21. The Cubs are trying hard to trade Milton Bradley, names such as Luis Castillo, Pat Burrell and Kevin Milwood are being throw around. One must wonder, does Jim Hendry still remember that he has Soriano patrolling lf
  22. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) Bolland out indefinitely with back surgery. He had back problems last year, and the Hawks decided to give him a 5 year contract. Oops.... s***!!!!!!

  24. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) Default, the only full backup you have from time machine is your first backup -- from that point on it's doing differentials only on files that change, the problem is, it's doing it way too much. I think by default, it backs up once an hour any changes that are made, and just using an OS changes files, so it's constantly making incremental backups. Those are not all full backups, though, even if they look like it. If you actually go into the drive, you'll see the sizes of the backups aren't full, they're just pointing to the unchanged files from a previous backup. I believe the app is called time machine editor, I'm not home right now so I can't check at the moment. I only do one backup a week (maybe it's a month). Aside from the first, they're differential backups. Ah, well the frequency is still ridiculous. There is no need for it to backup that often, especially since most of my stuff isnt kept on my mac anyway. I have a high availability system with replication across two drives.
