QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 1, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) May I point out the obvious- it is game one. He arned his way on this team and gives us flexibility. There are others looking bad too he did? he hit .229 in spring. ...last year he hit .224/.248/.378
-
ugh..its a not a huge deal, but this is what the non-error errors by lillirbdige and milledge has forced us to do....we have now blown through way too many guys than we needed to in the pen
-
im really not sure why lillibridge is on this team....I really hope hes the one who is gone when peavy comes back, and not humber (as bad as humber is, he can hopefully at least give us innings in blowouts as a long man)
-
milledge has looked awful in the field - the back of your hat is not a good place for those sun glasses
-
can we bring humber in for the rest of this one?
-
the fan tried to pull a paul oneill and catch it in his hat

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) Knicks are skidding, Magic only played decent for bout half the game tonight still won by 12. Only 14 TO's, which is a big time improvement for us. MVP race should be down to 2 now. And you think the Celtics are missing Kendrick Perkins right now? Ourebounded tonight by 6, and Jeff Green a -8 off the bench. Miami only a game and a half back now. I think the Bulls have got the #1 seed wrapped up. the bulls certainly have a favorable schedule left... memphis, @milwaukee, philadelphia, @minnesota, @detroit, toronto, phoenix - thats a pretty easy next 7 games then they finish with boston at home (will be a huge game), @ cleveland, @ orlando (preveiw of conference semis?), @ new york, new jersey

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) Ok, you used the Cubs as an example. Here's their starting rotation depth chart. Zambrano Dempster Garza Wells Silva James Russell/Andrew Cashner You really look at that situation and think "Having to choose between Silva, some guy with an ERA over 7 on the spring, and Cashner in the 5th starter spot is a better situation than having Humber for a few games and Peavy if he ever gets healthy?" Even if you're pessimistic about Peavy's return to health and Humber's chances, that's crazy. I was trying to isolate the rest of the rotation, including peavy, in order to show the complete worthlessness of anything on th farm. My point is that we are likely going to end up using Humber in the rotation because of a complete lack of any internal option whatsoever. Of course I think 5 months of peavy + Humber for 1 is better than Cashner/silva. my simple point is that right now we have a complete inability to fill this spot with anything that can offer any hope from within our system , and IMO that is pathetic. Almost every other franchise (though im sure not all) would probably be able to run someone with more upside and potential than anything we can.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 08:19 AM) Have you guys actually looked at the rest of the league and considered how many of those teams have exceptional options as a 5th starter? i suppose i mean real upside options from within our own system...I agree that going with a young guy is never an exceptional, or even good option as the 5th starter. But at least other organizations have young guys who give them some sort of hope. I'd way rather be in a spot like the cubs where at least you can hope for a break out by a guy like cashner. At least there is upside with other teams. The most I am hoping for out of this Humber is a 5 or so ERA across the innings he can pitch, nothing more.
-
this is less about Humber than it is the atrocity that is the farm system right now. Theres absolutely nothing close to being ready on the bump that is even half promising....I don't have a problem really with the way kenny trades prospects, as long as the efflux is balanced by a solid influx of new talent. unfortunately, while we have produced a couple good prospects from recent drafts, there is absolutely 0 depth. Sale is a reliever now, and Hudson is gone. Its pathetic that the best option for the 5th spot in the rotation is a guy we picked up off the scrap heap who has a career 4.49 ERA in the minors.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 01:22 AM) Heyman just tweeted scouts are impressed with Humber's new cutter. Philip Humber: Esteban Loaiza 2011 edition...xD seems to me this is coopers modus operandi....just about every new guy we get ends up developing some sort of a cut fastball

all depends on how jake really feels and the degree of inflammation...ptatc can correct me if im wrong, but id imagine theres not a pitcher in baseball who doesn't have some degree of rotator cuff tendonitis

people can post whatever it is they want. The daily updates on Kevin Loves double doubles, and random articles about him floating around the internet that get posted in here are just super annoying. After the bulls and heat, Love is the most talked about story in this thread. Its like when espn fixates on red sox yankees, its over exposure that ultimately just ends up turning you off of those teams. You can continue to post all youd like about Kevin Love, I just find it agitating to read another post that says nothing else but "Kevin. Love." in games in which the timberwolves lose to bad teams. Its like maybe the 54th most interesting story line in the NBA, and it gets talked about wayyyy too much in this thread IMO You can't tell me you guys don't have (or have had in the past) that one friend who constantly, everyday talks about the Jets (or cowboys or ohio state or texas etc etc) that just drives you bonkers when that team is all he talks about??? this is a bit like that but to a lesser extent since, after all, this is only a message board. just makes me not root for kevin love, thats all
-
this thread has made me hate kevin love more than any other player not on the heat in the league

celtics lose to the 76ers .....if the bulls can pull this game out, we will be only .5 out of the top seed in the east
-
I think it should be thornton. If its sale, I am taking that to mean that Coop thinks his long term role is at closer, and not as a starter. Id hope the kid could be a starter, as it seems he has 3+ pitches,

god its so nice to beat that heat team....the next shot lebron or wade miss, and don't complain about a lack of a foul call will be the first....the technical foul rule is such a double standard with those guys...wade should have been hit with multiple techs today... that said, the heat are still a VERY good team. its funny, everyone perceives them to have had a poor season thus far, while the bulls have had a great season (by most accounts), and yet only 1 game separates them in the standings. In addition the heat could have won all 3 of the games the bulls beat them in. Its foolish to assume that the bulls would automatically win a 7 game series with them if given home court advantage. The two teams are extremely evenly matched IMO. for today though, f*** lebron, wade and bosh...and GO BULLS

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) Pancakes! When I eat breakfast, I want REAL Breakfast. To me, pancakes are nothing but a ton of dough and a lot of sweetener on top. May as well get a few oversized doughnuts. It's basically the same friggin' thing! agreed... Also, kevin love
