QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 19, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) Sad news, Austin Box, OU LB passed away. http://enidnews.com/localnews/x467553598/B...sive-in-El-Reno This is really too bad. sounds like it may have been an OD. I suspect football at both the college and pro levels has an absolutely enormous problem with players abusing pain killers, and it seems to get such little press. -
anyone have anthony quinns undershirt?
-
I wouldnt mind seeing a little of the Rose/Watson backcourt late in the game. Its not ideal to have Rose guarding Wade, but hes doign that anyways when korver is on the court. At least it gives some option of defense while having the ability to make a play here and there

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) 81 at bats? C'mon now. Ozzie just being dumb. the career stats are enormously significant with a legit sample size too http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...=Career&t=p -
I obviously absolutely love Barkley...but this comment is really, really dumb. I know hes just trying to give the current bulls their props, but yeah the bulls ONLY had michael (9 time first team all defense), Scottie (8 time first team all defense, 2 time second team all defense), and a guy who will get into the hall of fame purely because of his defense in Rodman (7 time first team all defense, 1 second team) and Horace who was himself a 4 time all second team defensive player. Has he forgotten that the bulls held Malone and Stockton and company to 54 points (then a record low for ANY game played) in game 3 of the 98 finals? But yes outside of ONLY starting 3 of the greatest defenders of the 90s (if not all time), Luc Longley wasn't the dominant inside force Patrick ewing was. BTW randy brown was certainly an above average defender, and ron harper won't be remembered as a poor defensive player by any means

wish i would have seen this thread earlier, but it looks like you got the weber 320 anyways...i bought the 320 (or some variation on it....maybe was the 300 that doesnt have the light on the handle) last year...absolutely love it....was the perfect grill for me. small enough for my apt, big enough to do some serious cooking still, portable enough to move around easily. my parents have a weber summit, which as was said before is absurd- it gets up to 700 F quickly. I get my q320 up to 450-500 after a good while, but i love the cast iron grates - gives a tremendous sear. The only one downside i've seen so far is that when its really windy, it must have too high of airflow cuz the flame really is depressed by the wind. Still, I'd recommend it to any and everyone

extraordinarily satisfied and happy with this obviously....but im gonna drop in my 2cents about the celebration thing and then (hopefully) not say another word about it Like I said, I'm very happy about this. An unreal amount of internal satisfaction, pride for our country, for our troops, and a sense of certainty that justice has finally come. I was a bit surprised at some (not all) of the celebration last night, not because people were celebrating a man's death (I am unbelievably happy he is dead) but more the manner in which people went about it. As I watched last night, there were people simply going crazy, as if they were at college game day and the camera panned over them. It looked as if they were going crazy, and gettin drunk simply for the purpose of going crazy in getting drunk. It was like they had an excuse to go nuts and looked for a camera to get their faces on. These people, I don't believe, must have truly understood the emotions of 9-11. 9-11 strikes an emotion truly deep inside. When I found out he was dead, I shed a tear. I thought about all those emotions from that day, my friends in Afghanistan defending our country, my family members who have served our country. It was the same sort of joy you get watching a family member get married, or seeing a veteran get honored at a football game. Quite different some of the people I saw who were acting like they just caught some Mardi Gras beads I know people celebrate differently, but you can't tell me that the people you see between 30-35 seconds in the video below aren't acting like ass clowns who don't truly get this thing. http://youtu.be/QQCoWVBDarU#t=1m52s Roll tide? are you kidding me? It appeared to me that the majority of people who celebrated understood this, and I didnt mind their celebration. But there were certainly a select few idiots who are, and always will be idiots. People may rip me for this post, but thats fine. I'll continue to wear my USA hat today with pride and celebrate appropriately with those who truly remember what it was like almost 10 years ago

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) If the Bears don't draft O-Line with their top pick, I murder someone. If the top 5 tackles are off the board, I'd be ok with them trading down a bit and grabbing either a OT/OG/DT about 10 picks later (especially if they think austin's red flags will keep him around til pick 35 or so). but no doubt about it...they need to pick an offensive lineman with one of their first two picks
-
for as awful as the sox have played, and for as decently as the cubs are perceived to have been playing...they are only separated by .5 games
-
unreal forecheck in the OT for the canucks...we had at least 5 times to clear the puck in the final 2 minutes and the canucks were able to maintain pressure....finally bit em in the ass. Vancouver was undoubtedly the more talented team...too bad the hawks couldnt pull that out their ass

don't mean to troll this thread since I haven't really been posting in here (not that many else have). Ive been pretty busy and havne't really been able to follow my commodores as much as I'd like (only seen about 3-4 games) but from what Ive seen, and mainly what Ive heard - the pitching staff is absurdly loaded. Gray (Friday starter) will be a top 10 pick, Garvin (saturday starter) Moore (closer) will probably be late 1st/sandwich picks, Armstrong (middle reliever/weekday starter) has a chance to be a 1st rounder with just an enormous arm. In addition theres a whole host of really good freshman arms in the pen. Should be a great post season, and if we are lucky enough to make it to omaha, Im gonna do all i can to try to make it

cant see the game, sounds like rose got banged up...but 0 assists is unacceptable

9 turnovers to 0 for the pacers ....not able to watch the gmae today, but that says quite a bit

i am certainly willing to accept and use hollingers PER and other metrics when objectively evaluating a player, but can someone clear something up for me. Are these metrics actually vetted? I mean, with all the baseball metrics, countless people who are a heck of alot smarter than 99% of us have spent their careers researching these things. I'm not saying PER isn't helpful, but it seems that PER is just something Hollinger came up with? It doesnt seem as thoroughly investigated and proven as the baseball stats. Its very possible that I'm wrong (as I simply dont know nearly as much about basketball metrics as I do baseball) so I was wondering if anyone could tell me otherwise. At any rate....I realize that these objective stats tell us that Paul and others have been better than Rose. My eyes tell me otherwise when I watch the game. I just don't how much weight to put into the former....its certainly less than with baseball stats.
