  1. briggs with an awful angle on tebow lets him get a 1st down
  2. how bad is the NL central going to be next year? no pujols, potentially not fielder, no braun for 1/3rd of the year...division should be wide open for the reds to win
  3. doesnt surprise me...i pretty much assume that everyone is on something
  4. at least LA still doesnt have an NFL team.....for now
  5. Given the "calvin Johnson rule" ..... i cant understand how that was a TD for the packers

    2011 TV Thread

for those of you who watch homeland....brodys son looks like a mini jay cutler
  7. if they land orton, i dont expect him to play for at least 3-4 weeks (if at all)....i think its just good insurance if hanie really really struggles the next 2-3 weeks. At least you can get a veteran who, as recently as last year threw for 20 TDs with just 9 INTs with an 87.5 QB rating. At the very least we know Orton can manage a game (at this point we're not sure Hanie can do that)....so its just a good backup plan should Hanie stink
  8. welp.....heres to hoping cuter:hanie::bledsoe:brady.... f*** me...this team was probably the most complete bears team ive seen in a while too...great RB, great SP, good QB, good D. You can argue that Cutler was near a top 5 QB in the league before this too....Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Brady, Brees, then I think Cutler had as much of an arguement as anyone else
  9. Im not sure it mattered because Vandy would have likely lost anyways, but im not sure how the Refs in the UT-vandy game can get away with what happened on the last play of the game. UT picks off Jordan Rodgers, and returns it for a TD. Play was CLEARLY whistled and signaled dead by the linesman who mistakenly thought his knee was down (his knee was clearly not down, but it shouldn't matter because the play was blown dead). So the ruling is that he is down, not that it was a TD. If the player is ruled down, which he was, the play is unreviewable by definition because a whistle blew stopping play. This was the initial call by the refs Somehow, the refs review the play, determine the knee was not down, and over the PA system to the second biggest stadium in college football, the ref Lies to everyone, and says there was never any whistle, and never any signal that the play was dead (even though this was their initial on the field ruling, and replays clearly confirm it), and they say it was a TD. They reviewed and play they knew was unreviewable, and then lied about not blowing the whistle, all because they knew the initial on the field call was wrong. SEC officials released this statement afterwards... "On the last play of the Vanderbilt-Tennessee game, in overtime, the Tennessee defender intercepted the pass, his knee did not touch the ground and he returned the interception for a touchdown. During the play, the head linesman incorrectly ruled that the Tennessee player's knee was down when he intercepted the pass by blowing his whistle and giving the dead ball signal. The play was reviewed as if there was no whistle on the field and as a result, overturned the incorrect ruling. By rule, if there was a whistle blown, the play is not reviewable." I really think its an absolutely unacceptable move by the officials who should IMO be suspended the rest of the year
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) I don't see the Bears going 3-4. I would bet they finish 10-6 at worst. exactly....and if they do go 10-6, then the lions would have to beat out the bears, and one of dallas or atlanta will have to 6-1 (unlikely)
  11. the bears are really going to have to collapse to not make the playoffs IMO. nobody from the west is in the Wild card hunt, which leaves only the Bears, Cowboys, Lions, and Falcons in the hunt for 2 spots The bears have the tie breaker and a 1 game lead over the falcons (essentially a 2 game lead) The bears are tied with the Lions (who still have to play GB x2, and @ NO....granted the last game against the pack is week 17 adn the pack may rest guys) the Bears have a 1 game lead on the cowboys (who still have to play the giants twice) even if the bears go 3-4 over the last 7 (SD, @OAK, KC, @Den, Sea, @GB, @Minn) they finish 9-7. It would take the lions going 4-3, and one of dallas or atlanta going 5-2 in order for the bears to not make it
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 13, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) I have a very good feeling, because Jahvid Best is out. If the bears make them one dimensional, Stafford will probably leave the game injured again. The D Line has put together multiple games where they have put a lot of hits on QBs, and Stafford doesnt like getting hit crazy winds are in store for the game today...which absolutely will favor the bears. It should help take away big plays in the detroit passing game, and would help favor the ground attack
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 12, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) The Florida Marlins are now the Miami Marlins. And in 5 years, they'll still have attendance issues. and they went from a decent (albeit not good) logo/jersey to unequivocally the worst in baseball
  14. anyone see SVU a couple weeks ago? The one with Bosh and Carmelo as guest stars, and it turned out the head basketball coach (played by the dad from the wonder years) was sexually abusing boys for years...almost identical situation to this. What a truly disgusting and awful story. Apparently there is now a 9th confirmed victim, and whats so unthinkable is that its possible that the true number of victims may be way more than that given the number of kids this guy interacted with in his "charity". just appalling that this stuff actually exists. You see it fictionalized on tv, but never really think its out there
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) Definitely won't coach next season. Still not official if he will finish this one. I guess Matt Millen was crying on SportsCenter in support of Penn State i watched it....Millen was crying, but it wasnt really defending PSU. He was emotional and saying he loves Paterno, and he finds this all very hard to believe, but he said if true this is deplorable. Its not like the guy was defending what happened or something
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 08:28 AM) I think his assignment was Cole, and he looked great. Louis had Babin. I get those two mixed up. Louis pancaked his guy on one play. Webb is starting to come around. Next year Spencer will play center and Carimi will play a position full time. Bears just extended Garza for 2 years. Credit needs to be given in a couple of areas here...Martz deserves credit for realizing the fact that Forte is a much better outside RB stretching the field, than he is between the tackles (under turner bears kept trying to run him straight ahead out of the I). Also Tice's MO as a coach is that he likes big, nasty O-linemen that are maulers. Say what you will about the pass blocking (which has gotten better), but this Oline is very good in the running game. They are big, physical and are very athletic with the ability to pull and seal off the edges for forte. I really don't know what the bears should do with Carimi right now, because Louis is playing as well as anyone. While Spencer is playing well, the best option is probably to put Louis at RG and Carimi at RT
  17. Philips rivers has been just bad this year. 2nd pick 6 in the first quarter...stared down the WR the entire time, then just threw a lazy weak armed pass that was easily picked
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) Absolutely. He probably whined about their shopping endeavor and refused to shop through an injury as well, right? haha its actually funny, I dislike Cutler for a handful of reasons, but I was absolutely, extraordinarily outspoken in saying that his criticism in the NFC title game was a crock. The dude is alot of things, but its laughable to say hes not tough. The dude got his behind knocked in college, got his behind knocked the last 2 years and always got up with a competitive edge to him. I just find that his pretty boy schtick is annoying and fake, especially considering this is a guy who used to go to press conferences in his sweats with unkempt hair when he first broke into the league QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) Where do you get that from? By all accounts when people in his life have been interviewed they've said he's a really good down to earth guy. I met him a few weeks ago at a bar and he was as nice as can be. multiple friends who played college ball with him, multiple encounters with him. I do believe that within his very small circle, deep down he may be a nice guy. But to so many other people, he's just an arrogant ass IMO, and if you have to dig that deep, and get that close to someone to find out that he is a good person, then in reality, he probably isn't such a great guy in the first place. Its just my informed opinion, and certainly others are entitled to theirs. I just really think hes a fake guy with a really big ego.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) Why? Because he's got style and a hottie? shes hot yet, and ill grant him that. is it stylish? maybe. ill even grant you that. But it just looks so forced when its on cutler. There are some people who can pull off a look like that, and it works for them. There are some who you see like that and you just want to punch in the face. Cutler falls into the latter category for me. Hes just a dude with an enormous ego, and he irritates the hell out of me, even though I should have every reason to love the guy
