  1. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) I look at our top 3 salaries and it makes me want to cry at least peavy is off the books after this year ...
  2. Dunn looks smaller than last year, but not as small as that picture previously posted made him look
  3. both noah and gibson had opportunities to get the ball out of their hands in those spots...had to get it to korver or rose
  4. bulls ice cold right now 6ers getting all the calls away from the ball too (moving screens, awful traveling call on watson, over the backs)
  5. the thing that bothers me most about this saints thing is the fact that it seems like NFL players want to have it both ways. Defenses want to go out and head hunt, and injure guys. THey are celebrating it. They don't want to be called for penalties on hitting the QB, receivers, etc. Yet, at the end of the day NFL players are saying the league doesn't do enoguh to protect the players from injuries, doesnt take care of their own employees? Even if the players who are rewarded for big hits, aren't the ones advocating for better player safety and better health care by the NFL, they are still sending the wrong message the media/fans, which is working against those like Hillenmeyer who are fighting for fair compensation. The players union IMO should be the ones to truly come out and speak strongly against the bounty hunting
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 10:03 PM) Just coming back from a concussion, eh... hes been awful since derrick went out
  7. absolutely the right call to give Boozer a T right there.....you dunked on the guy, why the f*** do you need to stare him down like that douche
  8. QUOTE (oldsox @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) What was the Oliver comment? http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2008/0...gan-trivia.html
  9. stone is ok, but he has 2 main problems. 1) he talks wayyy too much. You don't need to analyze every little thing that goes in the game. and 2) 90% of the stuff he decides to analyze, is like baseball 101. Now I know most that post on soxtalk have a baseball IQ above that of the average fan, so doesn't it seem to you guys like Stone is trying to teach baseball to a 2nd grader? I love Hawk. I am the complete opposite of almost every fan when it comes to announcers though. I loved Joe Morgan. Basically, I love old ball players who tell stories. Thats the type of stuff you can only really learn from those guys. I know everyone makes fun of Morgan for his "Al Oliver comment," but you know what? As dumb of a comment as it might have been (and it was dumb) if he hadn't said it, I probably wouldn't know who Al oliver is. Same thing with Hawk. Now of course I would know who Yaz is without hawk, but im not sure I'd know much about Tony conigliaro, or bert campernaris if it wasnt for hawk

    2012 TV Thread

    first eastbound and down of season 3 was cash money. way better than anything in season 2, and almost as good as the best from season 1. I had very high hopes for teh second episode of season 3, and it was just all sorts of bizarre...definitely disappointed a bit
  11. my commodores started out the season ranked #8 - had the top recruiting class in the country coming in - but had a record number of players drafted last year, so had some big shoes to fill.... start of the season has been horrendous - swept @ #4 stanford, and then swept at home by unranked Oregon currently 1-6 ...they will get better as some of their guys get a bit more seasoned
  12. As a student, I have access to tons of books in PDF format- textbooks, review books, question books, etc when using them, I ALWAYS print them out instead of reading them from my ipad For studying the readers just dont work - can't write on them, mark them up in different colors, can't flip from one book to another easily, etc
  13. they are both extremely talented, but some of the criticism is fair in my mind. The biggest question with griffin is the fact that you simply haven't seen him in a pro offense. Can he make all the throws? In college, it was obvious he could throw the deep ball with the best of them, but what is his accuracy like in the intermediate game from the pocket? Its the same questions that faced Tebow and Newton coming out of college...Newton wasn't ever really asked to do it in college, but now its obvious he was more than capable of it. Tebow, not so much. Griffin hasnt really been asked to do it, but can he? The fact that he didn't throw at the combine won't really answer those questions, but teams will draft him on the upside regardless IMO luck is much more of a guarantee to be a very solid NFL QB. He reminds me alot of Philip Rivers - big, athletic, quick release, not the greatest arm in the world but super accurate and able to throw from the pocket in an NFL style offense. Is he going to make the throws Peyton, Rodgers, Stafford and Cutler can make? Probably not. But neither can alot of very, very good QBs. I think the criticism lies in the fact that since last year the media hype around him has been immense and people were saying he was the best QB prospect since peyton (which is probably not true), and hes got so much pressure to fill Mannings shoes.
  14. if a drop of .320 points in OPS doesn't motivate you to get in shape, I dont know what will
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) He's just going to wait until his pro day. He appears to be in good shape (15 pounds lighter than his playing weight) and has arguably the best hands in the draft. He is also just a hair under 6'4. I think some team might get really lucky with him. I know if he's there in the 2nd round, I'd love it if the Bears took him. I wouldn't take him at 19, however, if Floyd is gone (and the Bears don't get a wideout in FA), I'd move down and target Jeffrey/Hill, add another pick to add value later on. Unless Martin is there at tackle. I agree with this. alot depends on FA too. if the bears are able to nab a guy like Vjackson, then I think they can wait til later rounds to get a WR (even if floyd is on the board). Unfortunately, this is looking like a shallow draft for OTs - after the top 3 guys (kalil, reiff, martin), i'm not sure Adams is a guy you gamble on at 19. He's got character concerns, durability issues, only did 18 or 19 bench reps and people are worried about his strength ...sounds a bit like Chris Williams (outside of character concerns). If the bears are able to get a solid WR in FA, im honestly not so sure that they shouldn't go after someone on defense with the top pick, or like you mentioned, trade down a bit
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) I had read somewhere that Hester and Knox both ran 4.27 40's. Is that true. nfl.com has knox at 4.34 Hester ran a 4.41 at the combine, but a 4.27 at his pro day - I don't know that they have the splits from the first 10 yards, but id be shocked if hesters wasn't truly elite
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) Have to figure right there he just made himself the #2 pick, right? And that the pick gets traded? its possible, but i just dont think the 40 time really matters for QBs...i mean teams know he's athletic enough to scramble. With a QB who can move, its less about the straight line speed and more about the elusiveness... The NFL network gun is apparently quite a bit quicker than the official one (surprise surprise - they must buy stopwatches from the same company that fox buys their radar guns that they use in the mlb playoffs)....so floyd really ran a 4.47, and RG3 a 4.41 - both are still really good for those guys I thought something might be up when NFL network had like 10 guys in the 4.3s on the broadcast (given that only 7 did it all last year, and the RBs, DBs had yet to run). still, lots of very good times this year - probably a product of guys really training for this event
  18. Stephen hill from ga tech is 6'4" and just ran a 4.30. Could be a very interesting name if he's around in the 3rd rounds Floyd also ran a 4.42 in his first attempt. I despise ND but this kid is the real deal IMO unless his character flaws are really hindering And Alshon jeffery didn't run. Gonna hurt his stock IMO
  19. Man Anthony Davis is just a freak. Fetus ezeli is probably the next best center in the conference and Davis just had his way with him today
