You know this really stinks. The silver lining is that he was pretty well developed and won't need much time in the minors when he gets back. At the point the White Sox will be good and we can take full advantage of his service time. I am trying to look at it positively.

Does anybody know if we have a shot at getting a competitive balance pick if we suck enough. On MLB they say it is a formula including standing and revenue generated but really don't go into further detail.

Hey Guys, I have now listened to both Rick Hahn and Theo Epstein explain how the deal went down. They both told very similar versions of the story. It shows the difference in how the clubs although structured the same but are run differently. It seems like Hahn and Theo were the ultimate deal makers. I am sure Kenny signed off just like I am sure Hoyer was consulted before the deal got done. It seems like Kenny has a more hands off approach with Hahn and who could blame as he does seem to know what he is doing. Not only is he one of the best negotiators at signing young talent early but he is proving quite the deal maker as well. The second thing that is interesting is that is seemed like Epstein was surprised that the White Sox were as willing to make a deal with the Cubs.

Also, When did Acuna get bumped to AAA? They really bring up their players fast in Atlanta.

My second thought. Does anyone ever think about that rumored December three team trade involving the Pirates, Yankees and White Sox? I just wonder was Aaron Judge a second piece to that deal? Damn what could have been.

I look at the White Sox Pitching Prospects as 2 waves 2017/2018 1. Lopez 2. Kopech 3. Giolito 4. Guerrero 5. Stephens 2018/2019 1.Dunning 2.Hansen 3.Cease 4.Flores I would expect the White Sox to add one more to this group by the July 31st deadline. Also, Put me in the category that Kahlne gets traded for a good package now. I think with what happend to Jones you realize how quickly value could evaporate. Many of us thought that Jones could have equal value to Robertson.

Can not stop rooting for this guy. He will be the best starting pitcher in the second half for them and lead their staff to a division title.

My Plan. Trade Avi Garcia, Tommy Kahlne for Adrian Gonzalez, Alex Verdugo, Willie Callhoun, Will Smith and Starling Heredia. Dodgers Do It: They get to add depth to their pen which is good but struggled last year in the playoffs. Garcia would provide them with average to above average play in left field with cheap cost. Both Garcia and Kahlne are cost controlled for 2 more years. They get Adrian Gonazalez and his 22 million dollars off of there books for next year and drops them below the luxury tax. Bellinger can stay at his natural position of first base. White Sox Do It: They get 2 Top 100 players in Verdugo and Callhoun. Smith probably projects as a decent backup catcher in the future. Heredia is the flyer of the group at 18 years old you really don't know what he will end up being. White Sox have very little committed to 2018 so they could afford to have Gonzalez eating up a good portion of the team salary. Why It Wont Happen: JR is not paying that dough for a guy to sit on the bench and drink martinis. Trade David Robertson for Carter Keiboom and Jesus Luzardo. Nationals Do It: Because the Nationals need a closer and he is the best one on the market. The White Sox don't touch any of their untouchables in Robles, Soto or Fedde. White Sox Do It: Both players are a ways off from contributing but could be starters in the future. Beyond Moncada the White Sox are pretty bare when it comes to athletic infielders. Why It Won't Happen: Because people are idiots. I have seen this proposal from multiple Sox Talkers and yes this should be the price. Kieboom is not even a top 100 prospect yet. This price is more than fare. Trade Jose Quintana and Todd Frazier plus Cash to Astros for Kyle Tucker, Forest Whitley, Feudis Nova and Frambar Perez. Astros Do It: If there is one thing the Astros are lacking it would be another starter for them in the playoffs. Quintana could offer them a starter with cost control for the next 3 years after this one. Frazier makes sense as he could be an alternate to Gurriel, Bregman and Beltran. All three have underperformed this year. White Sox Do It: The White Sox get a top 15 prospect in Kyle Tucker and intriguing pitching prospect in Whitley. The other two guys are lottery tickets. Why It Won't Happen: The Astros will turn to A's for Gray that will have a lesser asking price even though it will hurt them in the playoffs.

You know I really do think it is time to see Reynaldo. I am huge fan of him and think that with some Cooper instruction he could be an a top level arm. I am extremely glad how the White Sox have taken it slow with him and most of the prospects this year compared to years past but I think it is time for him to come to the majors as he ready for his next step in development.

I think that at this point you have to be hopeful that he is a high leverage reliever who is being used as a starter and wearing down as the season progresses. In the draft their was a thought that his small stature may lend to that type of pitcher. I wonder if you put him on the Disabled List and let him catch his breath a bit. Then you could have him come back in the pen for the rest of the season. He may be pissed at this but it seems that could be best for the player long term.

I guess my thought is why would I trade him for just a top 60 prospect? He is only 26 years old and just starting to develop his power. Everyone thinks that his average will likely go down due high BIBIP( which is true) but what if his power still has room to grow. He has 16 double on the season what if those start turning into homers. His ISO Power has already gone up considerably. His bat to ball skills have improved as well with his K% dropping by four points. He may never be a guy who walks a ton but to assume that their is no more room for growth at 26 years old is foolish.

Kelly+Weaver+Perez. I doubt the Cardinals would pull the trigger as they are really hurt by the lack of picks. Arguments for Cards doing it. Kelly is blocked by Molina Perez has not even played this year and is likely 3 years away. Weaver is just a duplicate of Flaherty and Reyes is still their number 1 pitching prospect.
